Style: Waring Food Slicer
I bought my daughter this slicer last Christmas and she uses it all the time. One of the ways she uses it - she slices any type of beef roast in strips and drops them in simmering au jus gravy for a minute or less. It's delicious. Since my daughter thought it was a great slicer, this Christmas I purchased one for my son. He was just telling me he bought 5 roasts, sliced them and made beef jerky. He said he thought it would be hard to clean the slicer but it was easy. They both love it so I gave it 5 stars. ... show more

  • Great above average home meat slicer
Style: Waring Food Slicer
Slicer performed amazingly, used for frozen meat to do home hot pot. Tray wobbles a little causing slices to not be super consistent but after 20 minutes you will be able to accommodate and slice accurately. Cleans really easily and very little effort on the cutting. Backstop flexes very slightly but if you hold it you won't have any problems. ... show more

  • Perfect cottage fries in our lifetime!
Style: Waring Food Slicer
I like my cottage fries thin and crispy (practically potato chip quality). the thin slices–this machine adjusted down to make–are really consistent and so cook evenly for the most part; I can set the time/temp dials on my countertop boiler/baker and confidently walk away for 22 minutes and wait for the ding. the instruction booklet is woefully uninformative other than in heightening the innate terror of dealing with a whirring serrated bladed for the first time, and the Waring instruction video is almost hilarious when the "chef" fumbles while attempting to remove the blade for cleaning and replace it, after mentioning the ease of such an operation, but he was definitely responsible for getting me through the experience of dealing with a whirling stainless steel blade after all the cartoons and movies I watched as a kid with tied down people coming close to being sawed in half by a somewhat larger version. my first potato which was oblong kept trying to angle out of the way on the return trip. I finally wised up and chopped off the round ends to seat it better in the food guide. p.s, I was able to get the blade on and off in a jiffy in case Waring is looking for a new "chef." I do wish it had a food catcher; had to improvise with a squared plate. the chef was somehow able to catch the slices on one side as he cut from the other so maybe they should keep him after all. ... show more

  • Thin slices are a bust.
Style: Waring Food Slicer
I expected more from Waring. First the glide doesn't really move smoothly while pulling back to position for another slice. You have to re-position your hand to pull the glide back. Not very convenient or easy. Also, the thickness adjust doesn't stay fixed if you put a little pressure on the meat as you slice. So you need to hold the "locking" mechanism in place while you slice, and may need to re-position the thickness often. It's not so bad if you're slicing thicker slices, but terrible for trying to get thin slices. Thin slices are what we mainly got the thing for, so this just didn't do the job for us. ... show more

  • Waring Food Slicer
It works pretty well. Slicing meat very thin is not within its capabilities. Pros: Sturdy base, does not move around. Fairly easy to clean. Easy to operate. The adjustable guide plate just in front of the blade doesn't handle stress well, it Cons: Consistency is a bit of a problem. The food slide tray is sticky and does not slide well. Adding a bit of olive oil helped tremendously. The adjustable guide plate just in front of the blade doesn't handle stress well, it moves around a bit. This causes inconsistency. Its my first slicer and I go so far as to recommend purchasing it for home use. Just keep in mind, it is not perfect. Made in China. ... show more

  • Perfect for the price!
Style: Waring Food Slicer
This is perfect for the price and to keep in your every day kitchen. I like it because it's light weight so I can store it away and bring it out when I need it. It does the job I need it to do, and I've not only used it for meat, but also my veggies and bread. It's versatile and light weight and I love it! It's just right for a home kitchen. ... show more

  • Love it
Very sharp, cuts thru partly frozen meat easily, and comes apart enough to clean very easily. The thickness guide took some getting used to, but it stays where you put it, unlike the plastic ones.

  • Disappointing
Style: Waring Food Slicer
This is my 4th or 5th Waring Pro slicer in the last 15 years. It will be my last. I should have known since the price of this new one was not appreciatively more money than my last one of a few years ago. The sliding deck is the biggest problem. The plastic is of lighter weight and therefore there is less stability as the deck passes the cutting blade. Additionally, there is more "play" of the slider deck on the metal slide bar and therefore cutting any material that is not flat presents consistency issues for the thickness of the finished product as the deck can 'wobble' just a touch as the cut occurs. My other decks had none of these issues. The new "lock" on the cutting blade is very convenient for cleaning, but I dearly miss the suction cups on the base as the machine wants to move if you exert any pressure while cutting. This machine sits on plastic feet. Overall disappointing but the fault is mine. As a long time 'cutter' I should have known better! ... show more
