Picked these up as our kitchen has a weird little bit of wall between two doorways that is just between too small and too big to do much of anything with. I've been hunting for shelves that might work for it for close to a year now, and usually the issue is I needed some sort of edge or safety bar, because I wanted to use them for spices, and free up my spice cabinet, which is packed so tight I have spices on the counter below it. I ended up with these mainly because the price was right, and I got 10 shelves, which is overkill for my needs, but I figure I'm bound to make a mistake with at least one of them. Their basic style was also appealing, because I had to give up on finding good looking edges/railings on shelves. My plan instead is to use a separate item (bar style cabinet pulls, specifically) to make my own railings. First impression when I got them was that they sent me the wrong item, because the box was so light. I'd seen the reviews mentioning this, but I had no idea that light meant balsa wood light. A bit of research into paulownia wood let me know that no, this isn't made of styrofoam, and after working with the shelves a bit they are remarkably strong for their weight. I've done a few drill holes so far, didn't encounter any splitting or issues (I haven't fully motivated myself for the whole install process just yet). The main thing I'm not looking forward to is that the brackets use 6 screws apiece, and having never installed shelves before, I'm just expecting a lot of issues. The brackets themselves are also lightweight, but they seem strong enough, they didn't have any bend to them when I tried and I think they'll work well for spice shelves. I did notice that these don't appear to all be one solid piece. You can notice color variations and grain differences on one edge of most pieces, it's easier to distinguish when looking at the ends, as you can see in the picture. They do seem well connected, but I'll be putting that end closest to the wall, so the screws should all be on the larger part, and it'll avoid extra stress on these parts. Just a bit disappointed that it's not one solid board. Overall they seem like a decent set of shelves for the cost, if you're looking for something basic and effective, these seem to fit the bill. I'll try to get my act together and get these shelves up, then I can upload some photos and offer an update on just how good/bad the install process was. ... show more

    • Suited the whole house!
This was a great buy! This provided shelving for the computer area 3, kitchen1, bedroom 1, luvingroom 2, bathroom 1- in front of commode and the rest on the wall to the back of commode. With just one order of 10, shelving and decore solutions were achieved. Great price too. NICE.

    • Perfect displaying collectibles!
As others have mentioned, these shelves are VERY light weight. But for us, they are perfect! We have approximately 50 of these shelves hung up in our collectible room, and they are the perfect size to display Funko Pops! They are nearly the same depth as the box, and you can fit about 4 across per shelf. And for the price, I don't think we could have found a better deal! ... show more

    • Skinnier than I thought
Install wasn't terrible but it's awkward to get the second screw for the wall and it's weird that they're screwed down to the brackets but have no pilot holes in the shelf itself. Shelves are super skinny and can only hold a few toys or small items per shelf. Really only suited for knick knacks.

Pretty good shelves I gotta say, the wood is not that strong so I am scared of putting to much weight on them. Overall getting 10 for like 50 something is far better than getting 5 for like 30 wayyy better deal imo. Money spent very well for me at least.

The manufacturer could make things much easier if they would either pre-drill or at least mark the locations on the underside of the shelf where each bracket should be attached. I spent more time trying to get the hole positioning just right on the shelf than I did doing the remainder of the job. Also, it would be nice if the manufacturer would include and extra of each of the two sizes of screw; they are easily lost amid the packing and debris. Once finished and on the wall, they look much nicer than I had thought from looking at the photos. ... show more
