  • Lives up to the promise
Size: Without Plug 10" x 30" Single
I have had this heated outdoor pad for a few weeks. Recently had a snowstorm that dropped 15". I left his pad on all through the night and it kept the snow off my my steps. It did its job! So happy with this product!

  • Appears to work well
Size: 10" x 30" with plug
I'm giving this 5 stars for now as it is working well for me. I will need to get more of them if they continue to work. I installed it on my lowest step off my deck that gets ice and snow all the time from the roof. (The first pic is when I installed it and the 2nd is the next morning after a 2 inch snow during the night.) I continually salt and chip it away, but this appears that I'm done doing that. I stepped on it with snowy boots and a few minutes later I went back out and the photo is the result. The only thing I didn't like was the size of the hole in the mounting grommets. They are absolutely huge and I had to use 2 washers with a standard deck screw to mount it. The cord is super long so it can be up and out of the way and out of the snow. The indicator light works too to tell you it is on. It has a GFCI in the cord so that gives me a little more peace of mind in the event of a short or something like that. ... show more

  • Compares well to leading brand.
Size: 10" x 30" with plug
I selected this 10x30” ice/snow melting mat to compare to the leading brand ones I just purchased this Winter. Set up is easy and yes, it’s the same as the leading brand. The quality and weight of the mat is a little lighter, but so is the price. This one comes with the electrical cord. The other leading brand sells it separately for an additional $50. So when comparing the price of the mat, know that this one includes it. The cost difference between this and the leading brand is $60. Yes, you can buy multiple mats and daisy chain them together. They simply connect to each other and use one electrical cord. This size would be great for stairs. The leading brand melts at a rate of 2” per hour and this one melts 3” per hour. Honestly, as long as the ice on the deck is melted, I am happy. Nothing worse than taking that first step on the deck at 6am after a snow or ice storm. I have had both running side by side all day today. They are equally as warm and are doing great. I will update with some snow pics in a couple days! In the meantime, I don’t have frosty feet in the morning! A good value purchase! I love the Velcro band to roll it up for storage. ... show more

  • It works!
Size: 10" x 30" with plug
We finally got a cold snap, with the temperature staying in the 20's, which didn't bother me. Then, we got a dusting (half-inch, or so) overnight and I finally got to use the pad. I still had the multiple outlet setup for the Christmas lights in place, so all I had to do was plug it in and wait. It has a 3-prong plug, so you need an extension cord or outlet with that extra ground plug. After sweeping the dusting of snow off the steps, I waited to see if it worked or not, but without additional snow I couldn't tell. Then we got 3 to 4 more inches of snow overnight last night and the only step without snow was the one with this mat. I was so happy! My only complaint is that they don't sell the mats in 3- or 4-packs like other manufacturers do, only individually. They're very good, but that gets expensive. I did buy a 20x60 inch mat from them for the walkway from the sidewalk to the porch. ... show more

  • Slightly more affordable alternative to HeatTrak
Size: 10" x 30" with plug
My experience with snow melt mats is entirely with HeatTrak, which is perhaps one of the most popular brands of snow melt mats. I have 17 HeatTrak mats on my stairs every winter and have used them for over 14 years. Therefore, my review of this mat is in comparison to those of the same size from HeatTrak. Right out of the box I appreciated the fact that these mats can be rolled up and secured with a sturdy velcro band. The mat is just a hair thicker than comparable HeatTrak mats but with larger, sturdier grommets that you can use to secure the mat. The cord from the mat to the control unit is of a smaller gauge than on the HeatTrak, and the connector does not in my opinion seem as sturdy and water-tight as on the HeatTrak. The mat heats up quickly. It doesn't get hot, just warm - warm enough to keep falling snow and ice from accumulating. You can daisy-chain these mats as well. This mat, in my opinion, is overpriced - but still much cheaper than a HeatTrak which is absurdly expensive. That said, my HeatTrak mats have lasted well over a decade. Let's see how long this one lasts. ... show more

  • Great performance at subzero temps
Size: 10" x 30" with plug
I got a stair tread mat to put in front of my dog door, hopping to not have to put down snow and ice melt. I put it down a week before we had bad weather so they could get use to it being there. I also left it plugged in because I wanted to make sure it worked and was durable. I used my thermal image camera to see how well it heated and how hot it was. I wanted to make sure it didn’t get too hot for them to walk on. The highest point I recorded was about 80°F. After a few days we got hit with a snow storm. It worked great at keeping the surrounding areas clear when it was about 32°. A few days later we got hit with a larger snow storm that dropped a foot of snow that was then followed with subzero blizzard conditions. This mat performed flawlessly. It saves my 13 & 15 year old dogs from slipping and sliding, and having to walk on snow and ice melt. I’m now looking at getting a larger one to cover a larger area in their out kennel potty area. ... show more

  • Worked great first year but….
Size: 20" x 60" with plug
My husband is 81 years old and I thought this would be a great gift. First year it worked great. This year, the second year, one of the mats stopped working. Moved it in line to another spot and still nothing. These cost too much not to hold up! Keep your money.
