The SaltDogg TGSUVPROA 4.4 Cubic Foot Tailgate Spreader features vertical auger assist and an optional vibrator kit that make it a more robust version of the popular TGSUV1B. With a compact size and hitch- mount design, it's a great material spreader solution for an SUV or a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, or 1 ton truck. The spreader features a corrosion-resistant 4.4 cubic foot poly hopper. Its hitch mount can fold away for easy tailgate access, and is compatible with 2 in. Class 4 receivers. Its 9 in. poly spinner can cast 1 free flowing rock salt up to 30 feet. A 1/2 HP, 12V motor is directly wired and is controlled by an included variable speed in-cab controller.     • Decent spreader for the money
Decent for the money. Works good for small commercial salting jobs. Would not reccomend for big commercial jobs. You can not leave salt in it and travel, as it will drop out bottom. Make sure you wash it after use and especially when done for the season, design allows salt into the motor shaft bearing. It does hang low and I somehow bent my motor shaft backing into a frozen snow pile. Pros: Cost Ease of use Ease of assembly Cons: Easily rusts. Motor hangs low and could be damaged backing into a frozen snow pack, hill etc. Design allows salt to penetrate notor shaft bearings. I have gotten teo of these now and both came with different controllers, one only lasted a couple years before dying, hopefully the “newer design” is better. ... show more

    • Worth the money for me...
Frame is nice seems pretty sturdy, I added 200 lbs. of rock salt to the hopper and had to spin the disk by hand to get it started spreads fast even on the #2 speed with the finer salt auger purchased extra so be prepared for that I don't think the motor is strong enough for a full hopper of rock salt to start at all maybe for grass seed or something but I solved that by my helper standing on the bed loading a bag at a time was ice storm so had to do something,, poor guy but got it done also be careful backing down hills if your trucks bumper rides little low you will bottom out the motor take it from me I done it purchased a 7" rise hitch and another motor worked well after that. And they send you a hat ;) ... show more

Well it's not the highest of quality. Gravity feed. auger assist is crooked for what ever reason, Not sure if welded pieces are crooked or something bent. The orange throat the auger goes through is almost touching. Being crooked the material runs out onto the spinner. No way to stop material from falling out onto spinner when truck is in motion. Okay for rock salt, but lousy for pellet calcium chloride. Went together okay. No issues with bolts. Bolts through plastic hopper to metal plate is okay but on the inside the nuts are just against the plastic hopper. Wiring was pretty simple to run and easy to hook up. I would recommend some dielectric grease for rear connections as they are dry. Mounted to crew cab Silverado with standard bed, so plenty of wire to use with long bed as well. Best for dry material if you're not going to use a vibrator with this unit. Dry, bagged material works the best. I guess I received what I paid for, had I known, I would have ordered the dual geared horizontal auger feed unit (TGS02/TGS03)to control material better, and reduce loss from material falling out during transportation. I might play with it a little to see if I can get auger centered better to control material a little better, but shouldn't have to since purchased new. If this is a sample of Buyers quality, thank goodness I went with a western plow over the snow dogg! Thanks Amazon. ... show more

I put this on my 2020 F250 . I had to buy a reducer sleeve from 2.5 to 2 inch for my hitch( was like 12 bucks). wiring was simple , plent.of wire for my supercab. I used it today and it worked good I used regular untreated rock salt, and it worked great. Only advise is after you fill it each time give the disc a little clockwise turn by hand to make sure it isnt jammed from dumping salt in . I'm happy with my purchase. I like the ability to fold it down so I can get my snowblower out of the truck. I should have bought this years ago. I didn't get the vibrator for this and it always emptied completely with out it. ... show more

    • Frame bent and it stopped working.
Don’t get this! Worked great the first 2 snowfalls. Using it the third time and the auger got stuck. Realized that the weight of the rock salt in the hopper had actually bent the steel frame which caused the auger to get pushed up against the steel wall and stop spinning. I NEVER even fully loaded the hopper. I contacted the company about this and got absolutely no response back. Complete waste of money! ... show more

Tosses salt pretty far. I recommend the hopper shaker upon install. Good amount of parts but pretty straight forward. Great product

    • Good value- NEED A VIBRATOR FOR BULK SALT
Pretty good unit. Came in perfect shape and works great. Only giving it 3.75/5 stars because the design for the opening or shoot is pretty annoying. The speeds on the controller only really control how far the salt goes and barley changes how much is dumped out. Tested 150 pounds on the highest vs the lowest speed and the salt was gone in around the same time. Needs a smaller opening and a way to control the shoot to close and open. Then it would be 5/5. I made a custom opening to slow the salts gravity feed so it doesn't just dump out. Used on light commercial for about 15 lots. Worked well but needs some customization to be acceptable. EDITED: Have 3 of these (slightly modded) and threw on a vibration kit. Makes a world of difference! ... show more
