  • Good Price and Worked as Described
Lens covers -- they either do what they're supposed or don't. These work fine. I've been pleased with these.

  • Fit well, no trouble with the tether
I purchased these to replace a missing lens cap on a Nikon Nikkor 18-70 mm lens. I am very happy with these lens caps. The spring in the pinch apparatus has just the right amount of tension. Not difficult to pinch, but enough outward force to keep the cap firmly in place. The caps easily slot into place and provide good coverage. Many reviews discuss difficulty in attaching the tether to the cap. Maybe they've changed the design since those reviews were written, but I had very little difficulty. In fact, I was able to attach the tether in under a minute (and would have been quicker if I had used more light). Looking at the other reviews, I think that they were using the helper tool incorrectly. Many of the reviews stated that the tool was too big to fit into the hole in the top of the cap, but that's not where it's supposed to be used. The tool (essentially the same as the tools used to open the sim card drawer on a cell phone) is meant to be used for retrieving the end of the tether from the side of the cap, not for pushing the tether into the hole on top of the cap The tether, which is a loop, attaches by being inserted into a small hole in the top of the cap, and then pulling the inserted end out an opening in the side of the cap (you then pass the part of the tether that goes around the lens through the end of the loop retrieved from the side of the cap). I folded the thin string loop at the top of the loop (basically, pinched the loop to make it narrower), and easily inserted the loop into the hole in the top of the cap. When this is done, you can see the loop hanging down in the slot on the side of cap. Then I used the tool to get behind the loop and pull it out of the hole. In this regard, it might be better if the tool had a little hook on the end, rather then just being straight. Either way, it was pretty easy to fish out the loop. As I said, I am very happy with these caps, and would recommend them to others. ... show more

  • Almost Perfect, Improves Workflow
Being the best deal for 55mm lens caps that were rated high enough to meet my standards, they were an easy buy when a used lens didn't come with a cap. I figured since I have another 55mm lense the extras would always come in handy. THE LEASHES: After shooting approximately 100 photos with the lens this cap is being used for, I must say that I wish all my lenses had a loop to attach these leashes to! As other reviewers have attested to, they are not particularly easy to attach, but I think that comes down to the size of tool one employs to do so. The covering of the thin plastic cord seems rather poorly made, and in fact the only reason I was able to fit it through the lens loop was because the mechanical pencil I used caught the internal plastic (or some other synthetic material) cord rather than the fabric it is incased by, and that was able to be pulled through the loop much easier than the whole cord. That minor complaint aside, having a cap leash that attaches to the lens body is exceptionally convenient and saves valuable pocket space without getting in the way of any shots. It took a little getting used to that I had the lens cap hanging right there but it definitely made the process of switching lenses or just putting the camera into [protected] necklace mode much more streamlined. THE CAPS: As for the durability and usability of the caps themselves, I have not had any problems with them coming off in my camera bag or by accidental pressure on a single side, and they seem just as good as the sony caps of the same design. The bag I use is the Lowpro flipside 300 so every lens has its own compartment and is never touched by anything but padding when not in use. The lens that is using this cap has not made any potentially damaging contact with anything and on the off chance that I lose spatial awareness and DO put the durability to the test, I will update this review on their protective performance. CONCLUSION: I have given these caps 4 stars only because the loops for the leashes should be larger or the cord that is threaded through the loop should be bendier for easier threading. I hope my review has been helpful! Please keep in mind this review only applies to the 55mm caps, and I cannot speak for any other size of this product. ... show more

  • Keeper leash ties securely onto lens cap rather than relying on glue patch
I admit I haven't had this item for long but my previous camera had a lens cap leash of the same design, and I loved it. This one works the same way. The alternative is a leash that sticks onto the lens cap with glue. Such a design is not as secure. I have used lens caps with a leash and without. Not only does the leash make removing the lens cap much faster, but it masks replacing the cap much easier too. When I see a picture that requires taking, I can quickly remove the lens cap and let it drop. Much faster than putting the lens cap in a pocket and milliseconds can often mean the difference between getting a picture and losing it. Some professionals don't use a lens cap, for that reason. They just use a clear filter and replace it frequently. The elastic part of the strap can go around the front of the lens. Even more secure would be to put it through the camera strap attachment, or, if you need that attach it to the top of the camera strap. You must push the other end of the leash through the hole in the lens cap using the tool provided or a paper clip. The lens cap looks and feels the same as the one that came with the camera. Why three lens caps? The price is about the same as for one or two. I can't see losing a lens cap with a keeper leash attached, but you never know. One for a spare and one for a friend? ... show more
