  • Excellent Product - Huge upgrade over a basic bike computer
Style: Bike Computer
Leaving a review for this device feels like writing a user review for "Google" or something (because there aren't many big players in this space). I guess the main reason why I took 5mins to write this is for the person who is using a basic bike computer and is unsure about whether or not they should upgrade to a full function device. I upgraded to the wahoo from a Coospo BC 107 in my 5th month of cycling because I was starting a training program and i needed something with more functionality than what the $40 coospo offered. This device is my partner in training. I build my workout in training peaks and then it syncs with my wahoo elemnt. I can do the workout i've built outside or indoors on my wahoo kickr. The elemnt works very well with the kickr. The user interface is relatively simple. The battery life is great. It tells me when batteries on my devices (power meter, spedometer etc) need to be charged/changed. I don't use the GPS often, but it just works. I've never had a problem with turning the device on and it not being able to find a signal (this has happened several times with my coospo). I've built a few routes using strava and synced them onto the device. works seamelssly. I do not like how much the device beeps at you when you go off-route. It is a useful feature when i'm in an unfamiliar place with open roads, but VERY annoying when i'm riding in a city that is a grid like nyc. Riding with GPS is the exception for me, however. One cool thing about riding a route is that the Wahoo will yell at you to let you know that a climb is coming and then tell you about the climb (grade, distance etc etc - it is a great way to help you conserve energy when you're going on climbs in unfamiliar places). I opted to get a wahoo after reading in several places that Garmin doesn't support its devices well. I opted to not get a hammerhead karoo because of the price point ... show more

  • High Quality Bike Computer
Style: Bike Computer
The Wahoo Elemnt Roam bike computer is excellent with many features I love. I have a Shimano di2 shifter and the Wahoo shows me which gears I'm in on the screen and the screen is very easy to see in all lighting conditions. It also has multiple choices of features which you can pick your favorites on the screen, like speed, miles, time, charge on your cell phone, vertical feet, map routes, and many more. It also connects quickly to the GPS signal! It is the best bike computer I have ever had and I am so glad I have it. ... show more

  • Great Improvement over My Garmin 500
Style: Bike Computer
I've been through two Garmin 500's. I considered the Garmin 530, but I'm very glad that I got this one. It's the previous model and at the time was on sale at almost half price. Great screen. Larger and much more readable than the 500. Has basic map capabilities. Automatically uploads when on wireless. It relies on the phone for many controls, but that worked well, although it took some hunting around to find the settings I wanted to change. It does not have a touch screen, but the large buttons below the screen and on the sides are easy to use. There are a few negatives. - No autostart, although it has auto pause and resume - No option (at least I haven't found it) to auto rotate through the screens - compass only shows on the map screen. The standard mount works very well, but on the first try the attachment ring seemed too small for my bars, which are carbon but not super wide, so I tried the other, less desirable stem mount, which has a piece that attached to the unit. I wasn't happy with that, so I wanted to try again with the bar mount. But I couldn.t get that attached piece off. It wouldn't twist off. Finally I resorted to a pair of pliers after a little Googling, and it came right off. I hadn't wanted to use a lot of force in fear of breaking something, but that worked fine, and I eventually got the bar mount attached. The newer version, I gather, has a touch screen, but the controls on the unit I got work just fine and will probably be better with winter gloves. ... show more

  • Easy to see screen - great contrast for poor eyesight - especially in the sun
Style: Bike Computer
If you have trouble seeing the display screens in the bright sun, the Wahoo is for you. I bought myself a Garmin 830 - lots of fantastic features but i just couldn't see the display well on a sunny day. I read a review that the Wahoo display is easier to see - so I traded in my Garmin for a Wahoo Element Roam - and the display is amazing! It's very easy to see in bright sunlight. I'm not riding competitively and just want navigation and the basics so the Wahoo has all the features I need. I'm good to ride! ... show more

  • Great cycling experience
Style: Bike Computer
I’m a recreational cyclist. I have been using a wahoo element bolt to record my rides for years. I’m 74 years young now would like to start using a larger computer. I saw that Amazon was selling the wahoo element roam v1 for $199. That is a great price and would fill my needs. So I bought one, I have been using it for about two weeks. It’s great and I can put Ride with GPS on it. ... show more

  • Very intuitive, easy to use. And useful data.
Style: Bike Computer
This is a breath of fresh air, having come fro a Garmin 520 plus. Buttons are easier to access. Menus are easier to navigate. Most settings are done easily in the app. The screen is larger and has no glare, making it super easy to see. Bonus: you don’t have to plug into a computer to run updates or upload rides. Loving it so far. ... show more

  • Great Bike Computer
Style: Bike Computer
This is a great device. The interface is easy to use and it synchs perfectly to my phone every time for advanced history and ride storage. I haven't downloaded and routes yet to explore the turn by turn directions, but when in map mode it is easy to see even in bright sunlight. I first bought a cheaper Chinese knockoff from Amazon but returned it after one day of fighting the interface with no logical steps or documentation from that manufacturer. You get what you pay for and this is a high quality unit. So glad I have it now !! I run a campground on the Great Allegheny Passage in Pennsylvania and last summer a rider stopped in. He was in a race from Portland Oregon to Washington DC and was only 260 miles from the finish line when he stopped at our place. He won the race and I stayed in touch with him. He is Ales Zavoral from the Czech Republic and so I asked him what brand he used to ride over 3000 miles across the US in 18 days in this unsupported endurance race. He recommended Wahoo to me and it sure was a great tip !! ... show more
