  • Not for swimming

Am a big Wahoo fan after first purchasing the Bolt v2. Seamless heart rate integration with the Bolt and sleep tracking were my primary goals. No navigation (good luck navigating off a watch). Primarily a cyclist and an occasional runner. Unfortunately chased my kids into a lake while on vacation and the watch is now out of commission. Screen is dead and has turned itself into a vibrator. The IPX-7/ 1 meter rating might be generous as I probably submerged the watch less than 10 min at 2 feet max depth before I realized the watch wasn't happy in the water and it started to spaz out. Anyways wanted to post this review in case its helpful for anyone. Find it kind of funny that it hates water so much despite being marketed as a tri watch. Would not take it on the open water. Anyways am going to return this one to Amazon and try again. Going forward will be a lot more mindful submerging in water going forward. Would not mind paying a premium for more ruggedness and a higher water rating. ... show more

  • Bike distance and speed issues
Style Name: Stealth Grey
Decent product but alot of room for improvement. Never could get the cycling tab dialed in, distance and speed was always wrong even after changing wheel circumference. All of my sensors are wahoo brand to include the bike computer. Didn't have issues with other activities just cycling. Their software app. Needs work also. ... show more

  • Great Ideas, Could have Better Execution - Ultimately Returned It

I am a Wahooligan by joyous admission. I have several Wahoo products and enjoy them all, but the Rival just doesn't measure up to the quality of their other offerings. Tl;dr, the lack of quality made me return the watch. I'm not fussed with the lack of software features of the Rival as though I have measured sleep and HRV for recovery for a few years, I rarely act on the advice given to me from my wearables. I find the featureset on the Rival adequate and believe that it should be plenty for the majority of users. My only issues are with the quality of the product as compared to competing brands as well as the ELMNT bike computers which in and of themselves are top notch products in terms of hardware and software. The primary issues I have with the Rival in its current state are as follows: light-bleed from the screen feels cheap; plastic buttons that make differing clicking noises at times when pressed is not confidence-inspiring; inconsistencies of the plastic resin casing; and the earth-shaking vibration motor (even on low) is wrist-numbing. Outside of the complaints there are some great hardware features such as adaptive backscreen (ambient sensor), being able to choose just phone calls for notifications (software), battery life + the other highlighted features. For $330 USD its easier to pay for than the previous asking price of $380 USD, but I feel there are still too many other higher-quality options on the market as of now. Hoping Wahoo makes a more compelling product in the future, because once they do then I'm buying. ... show more

  • Good but not great
Style Name: Kona White
You have to wear a HR monitor when cycling or running. It’ll jump +30% when you’re in zone 2 or warming up and totally mess up your workout data. Really awful. Otherwise it’s great when paired together. Battery life is also very long.

  • To much dependency on the phone
Style Name: Stealth Grey
I was disappointed with it. Problems of synchronization with TPeaks, once you skip a training session you cannot retrieve it from the watch directly. Also initial HR during session very innacurate. I had to change the phone lenguage to change it in the watch. They could develop a better menu and options accesible from the watch directly (workout sessions calendar, lenguage options). It could be better the presentation of text in the screen, text is cut around the corners. ... show more
