Description

Those instantly recognizable, warm British sounds you’ve come to expect from VOX are alive and well in the compact, 10-Watt VOX V9106 Pathfinder 10 Guitar Amplifier – plus a high gain capability that’s thoroughly modern! This 10-Watt, 1 x 6.5" combo’s eye-catching looks are also classic VOX and include basket-weave, leather-look vinyl, our distinctive diamond grille cloth and, of course, chicken head knobs! Small but all-important details such as gold beading and white piping have also been faithfully reproduced, perfectly recapturing the legendary look of VOX. The Pathfinder 10’s powerful yet always tone-filled 10-Watt output, makes this amp perfect for home practice, backstage warm-up and recording. The Clean/Overdrive switch allows you to change instantly between clean and dirty sounds. With a mere press of this switch you can go from a crystal clear clean sound to our uniquely warm distortion; or from a slightly crunchy bluesy tone to a high-gain, modern-rock roar. Want to practice late at night without disturbing your neighbours? No problem! Just plug your headphones into the Headphone/Line Out jack and away you go – your sleeping neighbours won’t hear a thing because using this jack automatically mutes the amp’s speaker! This jack also doubles as a specially filtered Line Out which is perfect for recording your amp without having to worry about setting up any pesky microphones. The Pathfinder 10 also features controls for Gain, Treble, Bass and Volume plus a Clean/Overdrive switch.

  • One of my most satisfying purchases ever.
Style: Amplifier
I'm a household musician. I don't gig, I don't play in a band, and I don't record very often. Usually, I'm picking my acoustic on my porch. Some years ago, I got it in my head that I wanted to play around with an electric occasionally, so I bought one. I also bought an effects pedal and a nice set of headphones. Living in an apartment and having no other need for an amp, I figured the headphones were sufficient, and they were, for years. Moved to the country, and decided I wanted a setup that could sit, be organized, and could be turned on whenever the mood struck me. The catch was, I didn't want to buy anything too expensive, and I didn't want to be suckered into getting more than I needed. My biggest gripe these days is how hard it is for normal folks to sort through advertisements and elitism to find the "all you'll need" model of anything. From cars to computers to even food, it's impossible to know where your own satisfaction ends and excess begins. I can say that this little amp is an exception for me. It is exactly, perfectly, everything I need; it's loud, sounds excellent, is small and lightweight, and is awesomely priced. Looks nice, too; the retro, low-profile vibe is perfect on display in my living room with my guitar hanging above it. I play mostly metal and hard-rock through it, and still haven't gotten anywhere near as loud as it can go. The sound is monstrous for its size, and the overdrive is more than sufficient for jamming on your own. Add a few pedals for fun, and baby, you got a stew goin. The amp is great, and for the price it cannot be beat. If you're a beginner, it would be an excellent starter amp that would see you through many levels of skill building. If you're cramped for space or need to be able to easily move it, you can't get more sound in as small a package. If you're like me and have been playing for 20+ years, know the elitists are almost always wrong, and want killer amp for a sweetheart budget, then look no further. ... show more

  • Huge sound in a tiny package, best tone for the money.
Style: Amplifier
This amp was recommended to me by several people, but I was somewhat skeptical about getting something so small. I blindly ordered it, having never played on one, and was quite taken by surprise when I first plugged it in. First of all, this thing CAN get loud. I have heard people saying a practice amp cannot put out enough sound to play live gigs with, however this amp is powerful enough to fill small bars just fine. Secondly, the clean tone is godly. Quite easy to get an incubus-like clean tone. With that being said, I REALLY wish it had built in reverb. Coming from an amp with built-in reverb, you may have some trouble adjusting to the lack there of. But for the price and size I guess you can't ask too much. The built-in distortion is also quite breathtaking. It's hard to believe such a little amp is putting out that kind of sound while your playing it. My friend who is a die-hard Les Paul guy even said my strat sounded amazing put through that distortion. I can get a Bush-like dirty tone with ease on my fender strat SSS and the overdrive with gain turned up a bit. Overall, I don't think you can get a better amp under $200, and CERTAINLY not under $100 as this was when I bought it. In addition to having the power to fill a decent sized venue, amazing tone (clean and dirty), and being small enough to fit anywhere and fit in your passenger seat, it looks very stylish too. I would recommend this amp 100% to anyone reading this. ... show more

  • Straightforward, simple amp with plenty of sound for the price tag.
Style: Amplifier
I can't help but recommend this amp to anyone searching for a basic, bedroom practice amp for a beginning guitarist. Sure, it doesn't get blisteringly loud, so you probably won't be performing with it anytime soon, but it does get loud enough to jam with a small group, probably with a drummer (as long as he doesn't thunder away as loud as he can). You really cannot beat this amp for 70 bucks. Sure, you could spend 40-50 more and get a few more bells and whistles, but this has all the basics you need for a crisp, clean sound and even a little bit of overdrive crunch for those wanting a little edge to their tone. I chose this amp over two Vox amPlug headphone amps, which would have been 10 dollars more expensive, as I primarily play when my roommates are home, so I keep headphones plugged in at all times, and the sound quality through the headphones is great. If you want a little more versatility to your sound, I suggest throwing in a Behringer TO800, Vintage Tube Overdrive pedal, which you can pick up on Amazon for 20 bucks. It'll give you that raw, dreamy tube amp scream reminiscent of 90's brit pop and punk. To top it all off, this amp is definitely the coolest looking 70 dollar amp you can find. It just looks so sexy. I really can't say enough good about this amp, so if you're looking for a cheap practice amp and you're on a really tight budget, don't hesitate, pick this baby up. ... show more

Great little Amp! Super sound.

  • What a Musician Would Expect
Style: Amplifier
This little amp was inexpensive and it does exactly what I intended it to do: It lets me practice without making much noise, with or without headphones. Its sound is so clean I would describe it as 'dead', but that doesn't mean it's bad; it's just not that interesting. There's no reverb, so to bring a little life to the sound you'll want to put it inline with a reverb pedal (or any other combination of pedals you might enjoy). Don't expect this to be an amp you'd usually record with, or something you'd perform life with, and you won't be disappointed. ... show more
