The 'trickle charger' that came with my used EV would only provide 10A at home. My work provides chargers for free, but they're limited to 15A. Enter stage left - this very affordable EVSE (the charger is built into the car, these cords simply supply the juice). I don't mind the large 'box' that's inline with the cable (I ordered a couple clamps that will hold it against the wall - will review those when they arrive this week). The cord is pretty stout (6ga I believe) but long enough to reach my charging port with no issue. What a difference! from 10A to 32A charging meant that I would go from 37%-100% in 4 hours rather than the 27 hours the old cord would take! Getting the 15-50 socket installed was a bit pricey, but as I got a good deal on the car I had some extra in the budget. And having a 50A plug in the garage will make a good selling point when I downsize in a few years. Yes, 50A. You should only pull 80% of the max on a steady basis. So I could have put in a 40A - but the cost was the same for 50A and it will come in hand if I buy a car that can handle more - or if I sell the house to someone who wants that much juice. If aesthetics are important, go ahead and spend $200-$500 more, or go hard-wired. But for me, this is well worth it. My car sure seems to like it. :-) ... show more

Bought the item as described. Found that there is no adjustability with amperage draw. Found the item drawing excess amperage and heating up dangerously hot. Would not recommend. No U/L cert.

This Level 1 charger works fine with Smart Electric Drive. I burned out my OEM one somehow and this one saved the day. It's small enough to carry in the car for overnight charging at odd places. It does take a long time to charge but that's normal for the Smart on 120V. Blinking green indicator turns solid when the charge is done. Simple enough. ... show more

I gave it 5 stars in the hopes that people will actually read the review. This unit was being offered at an amazing "Black Friday" price so I though I'd grab it, even though I didn't really need it. I tested it out and it worked as expected, charging my Mach E for almost 3 hours with no problems. I was hoping I could adjust the output down to 24 amps so that it could be used with a 30a dryer outlet, but the highest option below 32 was 16, which will work, but not what I was hoping for. The ground protection is confusing, so I emailed the manufacturer for clarification, but it was returned undeliverable. Bottom line at this point is that it works, and was a great price. However, if it fails after 30 days, it looks like I'll be out of luck. If I had paid full price for it, I would probably return it because of the lack of support available. ... show more

This charger was so good for me. I receive the package really quick after i pay. The charger cable was long enough. The charging speed was not that bad even fast than the Tesla original home slow charger. I will recommend to all my friends that who have the electric vehicle.
