These are great lights. Totally solved dark steps problem. I have noticed they need the contrast of direct sunlight to dark to activate when it gets dark. If the day is overcast, they sometimes don't turn on at night unless I shine a flashlight on them briefly.

I have been very happy with these solar lights. I haven't permanently secured them (either with the screws or double-sided tape) but haven't had issues with them being knocked off either. I set them out to charge then just placed them on the edges of the steps, easy peasy! Our porch faces north and doesn't get much direct light so I was worried they wouldn't get enough light to turn on each night. They have been up about 2 and a half weeks and have come on every night. These are quite bright and are great for safety at night as well as lighting up stair decor. Highly recommend! ... show more

I like this product. My front porch light, for some reason unknown to me, would not turn on for five years. I worried about the Amazon delivery folks who sometimes deliver in the dark hours of the morning, and I didn't want a workplace accident to occur - falling up or down the stairs - since some items are heavy. It made my stairsteps distinctively lovely...and I could go to bed knowing Amazon delivery folks were safe in going up and down the stairs (no exaggeration here - I appreciate their work). As a side-note, it did drive to me contact my local handy-man company to find out why the porch light wouldn't work. Setup was easy (just need to press a button to activate). And they put out a good amount of light. They come with adhesive stickers and screws to keep in place, but so far I’ve just set them down on the edge of my stairs and they’ve kept in place just fine. Used it for outside steps. It was dangerous to walk down three steps specially for visitors as it was very dark in that area. Now, lit up and they charge enough to emit strong light for most of the night. You need to purchase additional double sided tape as the one provided is not strong enough to hold them in place. Our front porch has lighting issues and these solar stair lights are awesome! I bought these primarily for the Amazon delivery agents because our house is at the top of a hill with an 8-step porch and the lighting is awful. We've tried to fix the lighting but nothing has added any benefit. I've been using these stair lights right out of the box (they already had a charge) since I received them - less than a week ago - and the only negative that I can point out at this time is that, we have a concrete porch so the best installation I can do is simply to set them on the steps. It's been EXTREMELY windy and thankfully, they haven't blown away! I will have to take them indoors if we have a typical snowy winter since my porch gets inundated with snow. They face the SW exposure and charge up each afternoon and are very bright. I really meant to order (16) since I have (8) steps but since I messed up and only ordered (8), I put the lights on alternate sides and that works. It's bright enough to see each step very clearly despite the fact that our porch is 7.5' wide! I still want another set though just for the symmetry, though it would have been cheaper to get the box of (16). This is a GREAT solution if you need to light your outdoor stairs/steps! ... show more
