  • Has made substantial difference in a positive way . . .
Flavor Name: Coconut Size: 54 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I was having issues with my hair - it was all over my home, I could put my hand through it and pull out a massive amount each and every time. My stylist was telling me that it was falling out like crazy when she washed it and that it was really dry. I do color it but not frequently and it was more likely from stress and life and not taking proper care of it specifically. My stylist told me she had purchased Coconut Oil from Amazon for her own hair but I didn't know what kind but I knew I wanted to try it, not just for what it is supposed to do for your hair, but also for my skin as well as eating (or drinking) it daily in my food. At first I tried to eat it as a tablespoon as it is suggested on several websites I have read. It was 'oily', yes but had this sort of after 'cling' that I found hard to handle at first. Not the 'hard to handle and I wont try again' sort but the 'hard to handle, It will be better tomorrow, it's growing on me' sort. And it did get better as the days went on. Now I love it. For my hair, I may put 3-4 fingertips dipped in the bowl two times as I have a lot of hair. I put it all over but my ends especially. I sometimes do it in the morning if I am staying home. It has a really yummy pleasant smell too. I don't make my hair greasy but I do saturate it enough so I see the shine all over and that it coats the tresses that were unruly (frizzy parts from coloring or just dry etc.) It has worked very well and now I sometimes put it on when I am going out and let it do its wonders. I have noticed my hair is not falling out as much as it was but I also started taking Magnesium and brushing it daily (which I did not do in the past, I left it natural thinking doing less was good for it.... NOT) IMHO. I love the shine it gives my hair as I used to put products on my hair to specifically give it shine and this is one of the perks with Coconut Oil. I also have found that if I add 1-2 tablespoons everyday to my oatmeal before I cook it and add some nuts and dried berries or raisins after I cook it, it is creamy and delish!! It has always been a little thick and creamy but this definitely made it more creamy in a good way. The extra added flavor of the coconut also was minimal but enough to give it a tiny boost. I have been using the product religiously every day. I dont know if I see any tangible results from the small amount of time I have been using it for nutritional reasons but I do notice how it makes my hair and skin better. I have looked at many brands and types of oil and this had everything I was suggested was the optimal product. I keep some in a a bowl in the fridge and when I want to use it for skin or hair, I take it out to melt and use that. I separated it from the big jar because it is important, (I have read) to not put anything but a clean item in the main jar so as not to contaminate the product or make it have less effective properties. So I only use a large spoon that I wash before and after and I have the bowl in the fridge to dip my fingers in for hair and skin. When you leave it out, it melts, depending on the temperature to either a pure liquid oil or maybe a little is creamy like. Once you pour it in a bowl and place it in the fridge, it will harden again. It's really easy to use on many things, smells great, tastes good once you acquire a taste for it, which I have now and is not expensive in respect to all the good it can do and products it can replace. I like the brand Viva Labs. I would recommend this product and brand. I bought the large one as it lasts a long time, doesn't necessarily go bad quickly and I can separate it as I choose. ... show more

  • A Great Coconut Oil
Flavor Name: Coconut Size: 54 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Background: Coconut oil is considered a saturated small to medium chain fatty oil. It is the only oil (other than palm oil) that digests in the mouth, even before it enters the stomach and provides instant energy for the body to use. Furthermore, it also disintegrates at higher temperature, and unlike Omega-X based unsaturated oils, it is immune to changing with light exposure. As a result, it can form an excellent weight loss oil along with ability to regulate the body temperature and nourish damaged tissues. Also, it has berberine which is known to work against cancerous cells. It also has excellent oxygen pump to prevent carcinogenic growth. Disclaimer - "All these facts are to be proven by the FDA". The Good: 1. Very original smell. It smells like the real coconut oil that I have experienced people make in Thailand and South India. This aroma retention is possibly from being unrefined and cold pressed. 2. The granularity and consistency is again what I have experienced from an actual coconut oil manufacturing facility. Also can confirm the processing being unrefined and cold pressed. 3. A raw coconut oil should be solid at room temperature but melt almost immediately once the frying pan goes above 77F. Also once it melts, it should flow more with water consistency than any other oil's consistency. Again this one does that. 4. Melted coconut oil should retain the same aroma at even higher temperatures. Again this one does that. 5. When cooking in the oil, the oil should make the ingredients glide over the surface. 6. When applying on the skin, it should get absorbed really quickly after a good rubbing without leaving any stains or oily sensation unless it is on hair. This oil is silky smooth. 7. Good reviews by fellow purchasers who have not steered the wrong way. Cons: 1. This is addictive both for cooking and applying to the skin or hair. We use it for almost all the cooking activities. As a result, we tend to use it a lot. 2. There are reviews stating that the oil sometime is in liquid form at less than 77F. 3. Some packaging issues have been experienced with trapping of air by others. Bottomline: This is an excellent product, which has served us well. We don't have any bloating or gases after consuming it. There have been a time when we have just consumed it raw for gut health.
