  • Great portrait and event lens for a Z-50
Size: 56mm f1.4 Z
I do a good bit of photography of musicians playing at small venues, capturing both them and people listening. These venues tend to be dimly lit, so a big bit of glass is really helpful. This lens delivers great shots in low light, and really nice blurred backgrounds when wide open. Auto focus seems to be as good as the Nikon kit lenses and everything feels well built. If you're a Z-50 owner with the kit lenses, prepare yourself for a bit more bulk. The laws of physics are pretty strict around what it takes to gather more light, and that means more glass size and more glass weight. All in all, a very good lens at a great price. ... show more

  • Great wide-angle street lens
Size: 20mm f2.8 Z Full Frame
This lens performs wonderfully. It is similar in size and complements the Nikon 40 mm F2 lens.

  • It just works!
Size: 20mm f2.8 Z Full Frame
It sounds like a low bar, but it just works is miles above a lot of other inexpensive third-party lenses. I wouldn't describe the auto focus as fast, but it's more than sufficient for a wide angle lens where the generous depth of field makes sharpness less critical. There's a bit of vignetting, which you might not even notice after you've composed your shot. Editing my photos, I notice there's some color quantizing. (The posted examples are unedited, aside from converting from NEF to JPG, taken on a Nikon Zf.) It's not a macro lens, but the minimum focus distance is generous, allowing you to compose beautiful backgrounds on close subjects. 20mm is a nice focal length in that there's not a lot of distortion and you can get a lot of depth stopping down just a bit. The lens is lightweight, which might feel cheap to some, but if you've got several prime lenses in your bag, you might appreciate. There's no rattle and the focus ring operation is smooth, so I don't have any doubts of the build quality. There's no aperture ring, so there's less complexity. I appreciate the lens hood, if anything just to protect the frontal element when I set the camera down. For travel, this lens has become a go-to for me. It's lightweight, simple, not-to-dear, and 20mm full-frame seems to work for a wide variety of shots. ... show more

  • Great value for excellent performance
Size: 40/2.5 Z Full Frame
Used on Z8, excellent sharp photos and great handling at a great price

  • Excellent value
Size: 20mm f2.8 Z Full Frame
I bought this to supplement my Nikon 24-120MM lens with is my standard shooting choice on my Nikon Z8. Right off the bat the camera is materially lighter to use. This is big as coupled with high quality optical features this lens shoots beautifully. It also has the optical tweaks built into Photoshop and Lightroom. They help dissipate soft corners and other unwanted optical aberrations. Overall an excellent optical performer and well built exceeded what you would expect for the money. Need even shaper pictures, shoot 5.6. ... show more

  • Great Prime Lens
Size: 20mm f2.8 Z Full Frame
YouTube videos are a great source of information for photographers. However, most videos and reviews would have us believe that the sharpest lens, the widest aperture lenses, and most expensive cameras and lenses are the best way to get great pictures. That way of thinking couldn't be more wrong. Look at the greatest photographs ever taken coming from the mid 1900's and you will find inferior cameras and lenses (by today's standards) being used time and time again resulting in awesome photos. It's not the equipment taking great pictures, it's the photographer. That brings me to this lens. There is no need to spend $1,000 for a brand name lens when you can get this one for under $200. It's a great lens. Learn HOW to take pictures and don't dwell on equipment so much. These Viltrox lenses are great. My advice comes from 55 years of shooting. ... show more

  • Great lens
Size: 56mm f1.7 Z
May not be the best build quality or weather seal but it is a great inexpensive lens. Image quality is great and auto focus is similar or equal to Nikon lenses.
