I was dubious looking at the clearly simulated screen image in the product description, because the other "boogie boards" I have are incapable of lines that thin. But I was curious, so I got one. And, to my surprise, the lines really are that thin. The tradeoff is that they're not as bright, so you need to be in pretty good lighting to read the writing.
