  • Nice Ride
Smooth riding and easy gear shifting, this might be my favorite bike ever!!

  • Definitely satisfied with purchase
Okay so. This was my very first bike that I've had since I was about 10. So a very long time ago. I decided to buy this bike as a beginner bike. I intended to use it for simple commuter use. Getting to and from school, and around the neighborhood. When the bike was first delivered, yes there was some small hole punctures in the box but nothing was damaged inside. It took me about 20minutes to put the bike together with the tools provided in the box plus one extra wrench and ratchet in my tool box. Plus some hex keys and a screwdriver. Afterwards, the only thing that needed to be done was setting the derailleur to where the shifts would be dialed in. Then set my brakes, and fill my tires with air. After that it was ready to ride. I was very happy with my purchase after my first ride, and I've pretty much been riding alot ever since. At this point I think I'm in about 75 miles. I'm learning to take good care of it and do regular cleaning and maintenance. I usually store my bike indoors 100% of the time. And that'll only change in the future because there will be times where I will need to lock it outside at school. This bike hasn't really given me any issues yet. After doing some looking around, I can now say that in comparison to other name brand road bikes. This one is definitely on the heavy side, but it's nothing to pick up for me. I'd guess that it's near 30lbs total. My average speed, based off my tracking app, is about 13 mph. I live in a mostly flat area and it's easy to get to 20 mph. And on any slight decline, I can get to 24~25 mph. My normal pace when I'm really trying to get somewhere is about 2.5 miles every 12~13 min. So from my perspective, this bike is fast. I currently plan on riding it until my legs develop more and then I'll save up to buy a giant or a specialized or anything else that's in that arena. I do recommend overall. Just be carefull with what size you pick for your body. I've gotten used to it now but I used to feel like my bike needed to be at least 1in shorter. Otherwise just treat it and take care of it like it's a 5,000 bike. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Size: 49 cm
I have anther cheapish Amazon bike, the Giordano libero 1.6. I bought this bike because my girlfriend lives in a different city and I wanted a bike there since I visit for weeks at a time. This bike is great!!! Don't believe the complaints about the seat, it's very comfortable. The breaks are also much better than my other bike. One thing I recommend after assembly before riding is taking a paper towel and holding it against the rims while spinning the wheels; this will remove tiny aluminum shavings that may be the reason why people have complained about the breaks because these breaks are great. I didn't notice the aluminum shavings when assembling, but when I spun the wheel the paper towel became silvery and it took a few spins on each rim to get them completely cleaned off. You don't want those shavings costing your break pads. I'd say this bike is better than my libero 1.6 in every way except one: the bikes gears don't go as high, so on a flat straightaway I feel like I need one higher grear to really push myself. If you already do 100+ miles per week, you might want to look into replacing the cassette. Luckily for me my girlfriend lives in a city with tons of hills, so it's not an issue. I can't comment on the pedals because I never installed the provided pedals and instead put on some SPD clip in pedals. If you aren't clipping in, the highest gear is probably high enough. The bike arrived quickly with all the tools needed to assemble it. The provided 4mm hex wrench was a bit loose, so I used my own to avoid stripping the break pad screws. Assembly was faster than I expected and the rest wheel and breaks didn't need any adjusting. It took me about a half hour with the help of YouTube videos to get the rear derailleur tuned perfectly, but it really is perfect now. ... show more

  • Great Value Here
This is a great buy for those at the entry level wanting to get into cycling. I didn't really know if cycling was really for me, but I've been having a blast since my first time out on the Vilano Shadow 3.0. Now I ride 2 to 3 times a week, and am glad I made decision to buy this bike. The brakes are strong, integrated gears shift really well (i think i do this more than i should lol), and making adjustments is fairly simple. Which brings me to my one knock, and that is I probably would prefer a larger size. I have the 57cm, trust when I say anyone over 6ft is going to spend significant time tweaking this bike to get a good fit. That said, it can be done if you have the time for it. If you meet this criteria, its definitely a buy in my book. ... show more

  • Perfect Beginner Bike
Size: 49 cm
This is my first road bike so let's keep that perspective. I got the bike for $379 and did take it in for a tune up after I assembled it, but the shop said it really only needed to replace a frayed brake line and true the front tire. $30 tops. In 6 months I have put over 500 miles on it and competed in a sprint triathlon. I've gotten two flat tires but only after hitting MAJOR potholes while trying to look at my phone instead of the road. Oops. In the tri I averaged 17.6 mph on a hilly course and hot day, so probably could reach 18.5 on a flat course and with some effort. I bring it up and down 3 flights of stairs pretty regularly and it's not too heavy for me (a pretty small female). I like the shifters and it's a pretty comfortable ride. I'm 5'6" and went with the 49cm. Photo is blurry but blame the photographer on that 😭 The bike has been a great first road bike and I will probably only replace when I decide to commit to longer triathlons and want a bike with better speed potential (and am willing to spend the $$$) ... show more
