    • pretty cool little skate
bought this a year and a half ago for a commercial ended up not using it. pulled it out a couple days ago for a shot and the telescopic handle lasted about 2 minutes and it fell apart. luckily I was able to rig up a handle and it worked great. even held my rigged up Sony FS5 Mii.

After reading the reviews on this dolly, I wanted to give an objective review. Overall, I'm moderately impressed with this dolly. It's smooth, quiet, and rolls straight (or curves when you need it to). For the money, it was a good buy, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Firstly, the handle is so short it's practically useless, unless you want to bend over while you move the dolly. Also, it's chintzy. Get a good long selfie stick with a tripod screw and you're set. Second, don't expect to control the dolly; once it's set, it will go that direction and only that direction. Trying to use the handle to control the direction was an exercise in futility. It won't happen, certainly not for $40. I will say that this dolly is well constructed, heavy enough to be stable, and, as mentioned previously, it is smooth and quiet on both hard and soft surfaces. The results you get with it are great. It's the perfect size for a moderately sized camcorder. Supposedly this will work for a DSLR, but I think it's too small and too light for even a modest DSLR rig. Your mileage may vary. I'm glad I bought this because I got some Sam Raimi style low angle shots for a short film I'm working on. It was worth the price just for those specific results, but obviously this dolly is good for many shots and projects. ... show more

    • You're better off with a rail-based system
The wheels are pretty stiff (don't roll smoothly). I'm not sure if you can replace them with rollerblade wheels that have smoother bearings. The supplied selfie pole works ok as a push-pull handle but the tripod mount on the bottom doesn't work. With a GoPro attached to a different, high quality selfie pole, the wheels don't roll smoothly enough to get a good dolly shot. I'll probably end up buying some L-Brackets to make a home made track. Can't recommend it. ... show more

    • The extendable arm fell apart before even installing
It will work if I use the extra extendtion arm.The one that came with it was made by Mattel or some other toy company. I am going to mount A $1500. camera on this and the last thing I need is to have something fall off

Helps to add basic camera movements from low angles. I do like the adjustable turn radius. you get what you pay for. and not in a bad way. it’s a cool toy.

    • Stable platform for panning dolly shots.
If you need a stable platform for a dolly shot, this is perfect for small cameras and smartphone mounts. If you need a small dolly for a shot, and have a smooth floor for the wheel to run on, this will work great.
