  • Good product
Pattern Name: Drill Style: W/ 1.57'' 11pcs
I've been a fabricator for 43 years. Recently semi retired and have been busier than ever. I have a fab shop and work by myself and drilling has become a pain, literally. I have arthritis in both my wrist and when a bit gets hung up, i pay the price. Got a stair stringer job which required a bunch of holes to be drilled so I read the reviews and decided to take the plunge. I just got finished drilling 92 12mm holes in 1 hour. Ive owned hougen mag drills in the past and, let me tell you, thos little drill works great right out of the box. I like the coolant tank on the side. Delivers coolant thru the middle of the bit. The magnet is strong. Set the drill up on a 1 1/2" wide flange. Cutter are good too. My advice is use the coolant, dont rush the machine and baby your cutters. I see nothing wrong with this machine at all. Awesome price for everything you get. ... show more

  • Great drill!
Pattern Name: Drill Style: W/ 1.57'' 11pcs - Classic
I had always wanted a magnetic drill but felt they were too expensive. This one had good reviews and it came with a set of cutters, all for a good price. I have used it several times and it works great for my needs. A word of caution, the magnet on these has its strongest hold on thick metal and its weakest hold on 1/4 " or less. So consider the magnetic hold of the drill before you buy depending on the material you will be working with. The annular cutters that came with it are metric, also, if you want to use the included chuck to make a pilot hole for the annular cutter or any hole say 1/2" or 3/8" you will need to purchase short drill bits as the drills max height using the chuck is to short for standard bits. ... show more

  • Need to clean or grind galvanized smooth.
Pattern Name: Drill Style: W/ 1.57'' 2pcs - Tapping
This unit works well steel but not as strong on galvanized steel. Must have smooth surface to really bond well.

  • Great value in a Mag Drill Vevor Quality as usual
Pattern Name: Drill Style: W/ 2'' 6pcs
Be apprised this is a long review: First off Read the enclosed operating manual.. I read reviewers that complain about the electro magnet base getting hot. All AC electro magnets get hot when left energized for a prolonged amount of time and it plainly states that in the owners manual if you bother to read it, kind of obvious to me the complainers failed to read it...lol The Veyvor Mag Drill is a quality built unit, just like all their tools are (and I also own their chainsaw grinder) which is on par with the Oregon grinder and in some ways superior to it but at a price point WELL below the cost of an Oregon chain grinder, I was very impressed with it, clean die castings, accurate and superior chain vise and depth stop adjustment (versus the Oregon) as well and that was a prime impetus for buying the Vevor Mag Drill. I sharpen saw chain loops for my arborist customers constantly I might add and I have both the Oregon grinder as well as the Veyvor. Enough said on that. The Vevor Mag Drill has some faults however. The most glaring fault is the exposed drill motor cord which can get in the way when setting the drill up on a vertical surface especially. Additionally, the base is stationary and not rotatable when the magnet is energized so you must align in carefully when drilling a hole with it. The drill is very well assembled and I observe no runout in the spindle what so ever. It's heavy (like all Mag Drills are but the magnetic holding power is great but I would still secure it when drilling in a vertical position, you don't want a 20+ pound machine dropping on your foot. I purchased the upgraded model simply because a large number of holes I drill require second operation tapping so the reverseable and variable speeds are a requirement. I can drill a hole with either a twist drill chucked in the supplied Jacobs style drill chuck, remove the drill and replace it with a tap and start the tap straight and true and then loosed the chuck and remove the machine and finish the tapping with a manual tap driver. The model I purchased also comes with an assortment of HSS Annular cutters but I strongly suggest purchasing a set of carbide tipped annular cutters as well. Carbide tipped cutters will far outlast HSS cutters at least 5 times or more if you plan on boring multiple holes. I would also invest in a tube of Hougen Slick Stick semi solid annular cutter lubricant for vertical operations as the supplied coolant-lubricant bottle cannot be used in the vertical operation and the annular cutters require sufficient lubrication when boring to insure a clean, burr free hole. Finally, for standard boring, machine at 90 degrees to the workpiece, I suggest using the supplied 'coolant' bottle and delivery hose and introduce coolant / lubricant into the hollow spindle and hollow annular cutters and I use a synthetic EP coolant in the coolant bottle, same stuff I use for flood coolant in my machine tools but straight, not dilluted. Finally everything I've listed is available here on Amazon. ... show more

  • RPMs to high
Pattern Name: Drill Style: W/ 1.57'' 11pcs
RPMs way to high for 1/2”+ holes It drilled my first hole ok. Lots of smoke even though I was using oil. Second and subsequent holes I used less pressure and still smoke. Then I noticed the holes were taking a tad longer to drill. Well I guess the bit got burned.

  • Works as it should
Pattern Name: Drill Style: W/ 1.57'' 11pcs
First I'd like to commend the manufacture for packing it correctly. It has a wood bottom and the top and sides were 1/2" thick cardboard. Fantastic. I've been looking at a mag drill for a while since buying a "new" trailer and the thought of drilling a bunch of holes through 1/4 steel with a hand drill was never appealing to me.. I had to drill 18-20 1/2" holes through 1/4 steel (W10x19 I beam) for the side marker lights. I driller a couple of test holes in some scrap 1/4" plate to find the correct size for the lights and found the 21x30mm works for a 1/2" hole. It's not light and drilling horizontal holes is a bit of a challenge but a hell of a lot less fatigue then drilling these by hand. Actual drill time was maybe 15 minutes but with marking the hole and moving from place to place took about 1 hour. No chatter from the bit, it did not fall off, and drilled very nice holes. As others have stated, the magnetic base does get hot and not like kind a warm. Hot like in you could not hold it with a bare hand but with a welding glove you would be ok. I left it on overnight and it was hot. While drilling these holes it got warm but not enough that it was a problem or was hot to the touch. Not a negative just an observation. ... show more
