Bought a new refrigerator but didn't want to pay the extra $400 to buy a refrigerator with an ice machine. Bought this one for about the same price and will definitely outlast the cheap ones that are installed in refrigerators. Downfall is that ice slowly melts causing the unit to make more ice. Absolutely love this little ice maker. Everything installed without a hitch. We bought this considering my hubby and I were buying ice every day at $2.50 a day per bag. With both of us buying 1-2 bags a day, it made sense to us to buy this ice machine. It will have paid for itself in about 4 months or less.... doing the math. We live in Texas, so it's HOT! If you buy this little bad boy, all I recommend is that you keep your filter clean. Don't get frustrated if you get a code, cause it may be something very simple. The manual looks like it was translated to English. I found the legible manual online.. We have extremely hard water where we live. Just have to clean the filter more often than most. Also, if it isn't making ice, what happens is just move the ice away from the flapper. Give the flapper a little tap and it will begin making ice again. It makes ice really fast. We extended our drain line so it goes to my herb garden. Made things easy for watering. Again, we love this, and it is saving us a lot of money. We keep ours on the back porch covered and away from the elements of straight sun. Works like a charm! Don't pay attention to bad reviews cause this is an excellent product and worth every cent! ... show more

I purchased the unit in September 2023 and it’s been in use since then. The positive; it does make ice and would estimate the bin holding the typical volume of a 10lb bag. The negatives: 1) the bin is poorly insulated so the ice readily melts, 2) since the ice melts the cubes are cloudy, not clear, and are partial cubes so don’t have much weight, 3) the ice occasionally has a plastic taste; we added an in-line water filter but the problem remains, 4) due to the poor insulation the inside of the bin grows mold very easily. I previously had another brand that lasted 3 years and cost $100 more; this ice maker isn’t worth the $100 savings. ... show more

I like the fact that is fits under the counter but the ice quality is a little too dense because it falls in sheets that hard to break if they have been in the holding bin for too long. The holding bin is a little too small and should have a light so when you need ice you can see inside the bin.

Ice maker only gravity drains the meltwater, not mentioned in the listing. Nothing about having to buy a separate drain pump in the listing. Ice is very cloudy and not clear. there is no way the bin holds 33Lbs of ice, maybe ten, and not well insulated so there is a lot of melt.

First and foremost, you're going to need to run to the hardware store if you're installing this in your home. I was able to find everything I needed, including a filter. I didn't buy the drain pump because this is located near my back door and my patio is lower than the ice machine, so I let gravity do its job and tape the hose against the machine when I'm not draining it. That's just my Mickey mouse job, I'm not recommending it. The ice machine is pretty awesome. You can customize the size(thickness) and it'll shutoff automatically when it's full, so you never have to worry. If your family goes through a lot of ice, this is a great investment. The pictures of the machine do not do it justice. This is more specifically for a mid cabinet installation where the height of the counter is approximately 1 foot off the ground with a floor drain available. Since I did not have a floor drain available and an outside installation was not recommended, I installed this at the end of my kitchen cabinets using the Amazon 30 x 14 wire shelving unit. This also required fixing a drain tube to run from the ice maker into my sink. For this I used 1 1/2 inch PVC piping with four 90 degree elbows to create the downward track needed to go to my sink and not spill onto the counter. Other than that, the problems that I have with the unit are minimal, and are as follows: 1. Would have preferred a metal ice scoop instead of the plastic 2. Would have preferred the water filter to be mounted to the back of the machine or a corner. 3. The machine was delivered upside down by Fed-Ex. This required a delay in installation to ensure that all available oil in the compressor settled properly. (Not a Seller/MFGR issue, but delivery carrier) The Pros to this machine. on the setting for ice that I am using, I will fill up the ice bay (which is approximately 8 inches deep by 8 inches wide by 18 inches long) twice per day. I use approximately 40 to 60 pounds of ice every Sunday for bottled water at my church for our volunteers. So, this purchase has already saved me time and energy having to go to the store for ice. ... show more
