Description

This Vestil welded steel floor jack post (also called a basement floor jack) has a red oxide coating, a screw turning bar, and dual-lock pins, and it extends telescopically for temporarily leveling, bracing, and stabilizing floor beams and joists during construction or repairs. The floor jack post can be adjusted and set to any height within the given range, allowing it to be used in applications with different height requirements. Welded steel provides strength. A turning bar and screw bolt are used to adjust the floor jack post's height, and two dual-lock pins secure the floor jack post at the desired height. When opening the product, the pins can be found inside the tube secured in a cardboard casing. The floor jack post has a diameter of 3". Both end plates are pre-drilled and measure 3-1/2 x 6 inches. The floor jack post should be installed on a concrete floor or concrete footing, with either end up. Basement floor jacks, or jack posts, temporarily secure floor beams and joists in construction and industrial applications; they should not be used as permanent supports in new construction. Floor jack posts are typically made of steel for strength. They consist of an adjustable post and two end plates. The height of a floor jack post is adjusted using a screw and the post is held at the desired height with a series of pins. The bottom end plate must be installed on a concrete floor or concrete footing. Bolts must be used to secure each end plate to the structure the post is supporting, and a floor jack post's end plates may or may not have pre-drilled holes for these bolts. • Worked great, excellent value
Size: Pack of 1
Bought two to support a bunch of 18ft 4x12 beams that need to be removed. All the parts were present (they were in a sealed bag inside one of the tubes), and had no real issue with the included turning bar. One thing I didnt notice in the pictures was that in addition to the 4 large holes on each mounting plate, the top plate also had two smaller holes that we used to secure to the beam with #9 structural screws. It was perfect for keeping the beams on the posts after they were cut through. I'll probably never have another use for these things, but they did what they were supposed to do, and I cant imagine anything better in this price range. The only issue with the purchase was due to the size and weight of these posts, the end of one of the boxes seemed to have given way during shipping. This wasnt really a problem thought because they stored the parts inside the tubes and everything was still there. ... show more

  • The best medium-duty post I have been able to find
Size: Pack of 1
Really the best you can get in temporary medium duty support jacks. I was unable to find anything decent at the big box stores. Here is why they stand out for me. 1. The top plate rotates but does not come off. The bottom plate is welded. Makes getting it into position a breeze. Also, no chance you will lose them. 2. The top and bottom plates are way thicker what you usually find in the big box stores. 3. The pins have a recessed part on each end. Quick to adjust the height as needed, yet don't slide out. ... show more

  • Easy to use and very sturdy
Size: Pack of 1
I needed to replace the pillars on my deck and this unit fit my needs. I am very pleased with how well it worked. My deck, which overhangs my walkout basement, is 20 feet by 40 feet and has six pillars holding up the deck. Several of these 6x6 cedar pillars showed signs of rot from getting too wet for 30 years so I needed a jack to hold up the support beam while I replaced the pillars. This item worked perfectly. I'm thinking of buying a second one. ... show more

  • Very Impressive
Size: Pack of 1
I'm impressed. We had a tricky situation where a wall we added to an old house was sagging just enough to make a bathroom door stick. But right under where it needed added support there is an old hole, about five feet deep, that used to be used as a cellar. This product was perfect. We put a bad in the bottom of the hole and jacked the beam up just enough. Compared to other products, this one was heavy steel. Plus, and very important for what we did, the top plate is able to rotate to stay in place on the beam as you screw it up. Clever pins to set the height, too. No nuts to lose. They use steel pins, machined down just in from each in so that the weight of the pipe holds them in the holes. And they give you two of them. I know they say they are not for permanent use or for lifting, but a lot of people use them for it, and I think that's largely a liability thing to avoid blame when people use them for things they can't do properly. But they are capable of lifting and of being left in place. It's hard to imaging them failing in any reasonable use. I solved our problem, and so much cheaper than a foundation company. ... show more

  • Great product.
Size: Pack of 1
I can't believe I was able to get this heavy product (actually bought two) sent to my house in two days for about the same price as the big box retailers and this manufacturer's product was actually a higher quality than theirs as well. It is study, strong and stable. I needed them to support the roof while replacing a French door with a larger door which required removing the header. ... show more

  • Jack post
Size: Pack of 1
I bought two of these to replace the columns on my porch (11). Used them to lift the roof enough to slide out the old and slide in the new. Worked great although the 6" tool enclosed would never have given me enough leverage to turn the top and raise the roof. So I used a tool from a car spare tire jack which worked perfectly. I attached a 1' square piece of plywood to the bottom and a 8" x 8" piece of pine to the top for added stability and more surface area. Took another 1' sq. piece of plywood and tacked a piece of carpet to it so as not to damage the paint when raising the roof. ... show more

  • Great for supporting roof joists.
Size: Pack of 1
Purchased 2 then a 3rd. We were a bit skeptical after reading some of the other reviews. All arrived well packaged, with heavy banding. No missing parts. Used to support roof joists to replace support beams. These did the trick. I would recommend these to anyone needing to support roof joists or floor joists. Now trying to figure what to do with these 3 big heavy tools now that our project is complete. ... show more
