Great awning for when you don't need a rack mount. Plenty of clearance for my truck topper hatch and looks to have plenty of clearance for van and suv hatches. Yields a good amount of room. Assembly was straightforward and the included directions were easy to understand. Took about 10 minutes to set up the first time. I can probably cut that in half next time. The only flaw was a broken clip. It didn't seem to affect the performance of the awning, but I didn't want to take any chances so I sent support an email. They returned my email in a timely manner (less than 2 days) and authorized repair parts to be sent. I received a full replacement a few days later that was perfect. Thanks Hasika! ... show more

I got this to cover the side door of my camper van so I can leave it open when it rains. I had to turn it sideways, but it works a treat! The price point can't be beat, especially compared to a permanent awning (>$1000 + installation). It wouldn't hold up in a monsoon downpour, but it's good enough for most rain. It's waterproof, so no leaking. The material seems really flimsy, though, so handle with care. The suction cups and stakes are absolute crap, definitely buy your own. It only takes me about 15 minutes to set up, and that includes using a ladder to get to the roof and tying the corners off on nearby trees. Take down is equally fast and easy. Easy set up. The end attached to the vehicle was via suction cups that I could secure to the side windows. There were also optional guy lines that could be used for attachment if the cups didn't work. Tent poles are the 'stackable' kind, so the height could be adjusted at the opposite end, using/securing the guy lines is highly recommended. The awning came in very handy when a rainstorm rolled in for about 30 minutes, we just reduced the height of the poles and chilled in our chairs underneath until it passed. I could see high/strong winds definitely testing its stability but otherwise very happy w/ the purchase. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The awning works great for my Ram van. I bought the additional suction cup pack Amazon recommended. The awning worked great and is put up quickly. It’s a little finicky in the set up process, but once countered by the strings and stakes supplied, it stayed up for a 3 day weekend no problem ... show more

Stakes for guide wires are cheap junk. Order heavy duty ones to supplement. I made my own guide wires for the poles that brace in 2 directions for moderate winds. I didn’t not use the suction cup connections designed to connect the canopy to the side of the vehicle. They will only work on very clean surfaces. This is not practical. I used the included guide wires to secure it to the vehicle by looping them thru rear wheel spokes and not using the suction cups. This thing will not hold up to strong winds. It will likely lift off. My opinion is in heavy winds it will need to lowered and heavily secured to the ground. Or taken down all together. This thing will catch wind and very possibly damage your vehicle. When I take it camping here in CO. It will be taken down when we leave camp or go to bed for the night. Winds in the mountains can get strong even without storms. Over all 3.7. Good but needs some modifications to the way it’s secured to vehicle and ground. My opinion is it will not do well in strong winds regardless of how it’s secured. ... show more

I took this to a camping trip on the river this weekend and to say it's a piece of junk is an understatement. Assembling it was a joke. The poles on the non-car side do not stick in the ground, so if you have ANY amount of breeze at all, it will blow up and away. There's also no way to secure the canopy to the poles, which makes absolutely NO sense at all. Who designed this **** thing?? This thing acts like a sail once tethered to your car, so in order to keep it standing we had to jerry-rig the entire thing by cutting holes in the cover and in the pole caps and using other supplies we had to secure it to the ground. Also, the rain flap doesn't have any way to tie to the poles, so if you have it down instead up wrapped up (which, it doesn't stay wrapped up anyway), it just blows around knocking anything you have under the canopy to the ground. The tethers on the car side are not secure either. Every time we came back from the river, we would find that the breeze pulled the tethers loose and we kept having to re-tie it to the car. We didn't have weak knots either, in case that's what you're thinking. I wanted so badly to return it (even with all the modifications we made) but by the time the trip was over I was so angry with it I just threw it away. I bought it to try out with my truck camper. It held up well in the heavy rain (though I had to manage it when water collected in it). The poles are sturdy, easy to set up and break down. It folded up easily to fit back into the carry bag. I like it well enough that I would buy it as a gift for camping family members. I will have to add extensions to the poles to make it high enough for my door to open and close if I want to situate the awning at the entrance to the camper. But placed off to the side it was easy to set up. It comes with suction cup attachments that can't work on my rig, but on a smooth surface of an SUV it should work fine.
