  • Wonderful! I love it!
Size: 20 Quarts - Organic Potting Soil Mix
This compost and company is amazing! It’s so fluffy and light. For anyone confused the gold/shiny stuff in the compost is not metal. I actually emailed the company about it because I was curious about why this was beneficial. This is what they said “ Those gold flakes are actually pieces of vermiculite. Fort Vee contains vermiculite, which is a naturally occurring mineral that we add to increase aeration and drainage. These characteristics help with healthy root development, as well as providing ideal habitat conditions for many living soil organisms. In fact, Fort Vee got it's name when “Fortified with Vermiculite” was shortened to “Fort Vee.” Fort Vee also includes a mix of finely ground granite and basalt, which provide slow-release minerals in your fields for years after transplant.” Just for the reviews that say they found “metal” in their compost. Maybe email the company first and learn about them before giving bad review. My plant starts look amazing as well!! ... show more

  • Great compost!
Size: 20 Quarts - Organic Potting Soil Mix
This compost worked really well for my seed starting. It has good nutrients in it to keep the plants strong till it’s time to plant them out. Regular seed starting mix has no nutrients in it. The only down side is that it is very expensive. I bought two large bags. I could really use about four more bags but it’s cost prohibitive for me at this time. ... show more

  • So far soil is wonderful
Size: 40 Quarts - Organic Potting Soil Mix
Holds water quite well, and is aerated enough that my seedlings love it. I would recommended like some pro-tekt or something of that sort though. My plants are doing great 14 out of 16 seeds sprouted I soil. THAT'S AMAZING

  • Great soil
Size: 40 Quarts - Organic Potting Soil Mix
Helped revive some of my indoor plants that likely were out of nutrition! Also planted some ranunculus corms and they sprouted in 3 days!

  • My seedlings are up and look healthy - What's up with the name on the bag?
Size: 20 Quarts - Organic Tomato Container Mix
Looks, feels and performs like a premium product. I milk jug start and even with a cold snap my cold weather seeds have germinated and look good. The only issue I had is the bad doesn't say "Tomato Mix".

  • Magic Potting soil!
Size: 40 Quarts - Organic Potting Soil Mix
For years we have purchased our tomato and pepper plants from John and Joy Primmer at Wildstone Farm in Pownal, VT where we live. We grew plants from seed but the Primmer's plants were always far taller and stalks thicker and stronger by far from anything we could grow. This spring we asked John what they would recommend for potting soil and they told us Fort Vee by Vermont Compost Company. Year after year Fort Vee is consistently far superior to anything else they found. So we ordered a bag from Gardener's Supply through Amazon. After starting patio tomato seeds in Jiffy Organic starter mix we transplanted three Top Hat patio tomatoes (from Baker Seeds) into paper containers with Fort Vee potting soil and three with PROMIX with Mycorrhizae. The six have been side by side in the same sunlight, water and other conditions and look at the results in the photos! The Frt Vee nourished plants are 50% taller and stalks twice as thick and sturdy. My daughter declared it, “Magic!” But if you listen to podcasts with Karl Hammer founder of Vermont Compost you understand that it is the fruit of a very disciplined, organic in every way, process that bears its fruit in the plants it will support! Fort Vee is not chep and is a bargain at twice the price. ... show more

  • Bare root starts took off in this!
Size: 20 Quarts - Organic Potting Soil Mix
I received an early order of bare root elderberry plants. Within a couple weeks, there were tiny buds and now new branches and full leaves. Also, used this to start garden seeds with great results.
