  • Venta del Baron Spanish Olive Oil
This is excellent Olive Oil. The brand is very hard to find in stores and is more expensive than other brands on the market. I switched to this brand about one year ago and immediately noticed a difference in the taste of my dressings. I use this mostly in dressings and sauces and have been very satisfied with the taste. There are many questions about whether some brands actually contain 100 percent olive oil or are a blend of other oils. Some of the brands is question are known and familar brands that when tested only contained 30 percent Olive Oil and the rest was Canola oil with flavoring added. So, it is very hard to tell what brand contains 100 percent Olive Oil by the taste. I believe this brand is 100 percent Olive oil and the container lists the lot number and the date it was picked. There is an international movement to regulate the the production of Olive Oil. It seems the Olive Oil from Italy is blended oil even though the containers state virgin Olive Oil. It seems there is a scam going on. The best Olive Oil in testing comes from Spain. You can google the best Olive Oils available and you would be surprised to find out what is going on in this industry. There are other brands that are as good for less money so you need to do your research to make sure your getting what you paid for. The bottom line is this is a very good lilve Oil, but it is expensive. For everyday use I use Patana Olive Oil which is a family run business from Italy or Bariani which is a California Olive Oil, both which are available on Amazon. ... show more

  • Wonderful
I ran across this in Priego de Cordoba at a small shop run by a niece of the producer. When she told me it was the best in the world, I thought it was just salesmanship. When I bought a small bottle (500ml) it's box said it had won best in the world rating for, I think, the last three years. It is outstanding, but the flavor is not for every dish. When I want a good finish for a fresh tomato or other cold small dish, it's what I turn to: very floral, fresh taste. It's also great for finishing fabada or similar, drizzled on toast or in a pesto over anchovies and tomato. Not so much if the dish is Italian as it's so obviously Spanish. It's a bit strong for viniagrette, too, in my opinion. I was so happy to be able to correct my mistake of only buying a half liter when I had the opportunity to buy more. ... show more

  • A great deal for the best EVOO . . .
By far the best tasting EVOO of the many I've tried. As far as buying it in the tin container, the tin holds the equivalent of 5 of the bottles, and priced on Amazon such that the price for the can equals about the price for 3 1/2 bottles, i.e. you in effect get 1 1/2 bottle free, Of course that assumes you use it regularly. You need to have a place to keep the tin also . One caution though, the tin is not very strong, So, especially when the tin is still full, do not pick the can up by holding the sides; if you do and slightly squeeze it the contents will shoot out rapidly, thus wasting some. But other than that, it is an economical way to buy one of the very finest EVOO's available. Highly recommend both the oil itself and buying it in the tin. ... show more

  • A fruity like taste at first
Wow! A fruity like taste at first. Then a floral taste. Then u get hit with a peppery taste, but nothing overpowered. Finishes back to floral tadte. Can't go wrong. Oz for oz a good deal if u wanna spend a little extra for sensational olive oil. I did a lot of research and came across a website that had the top olive oils and this was number 1. I also bought the number 2 rated one and the number 1 in Greece. The number 2 was sensational, but a lot more expensive. Just search for the best olive oil in the world. I think it was the 3rd link down that had this number 1 for 2014-2015. I'm excited to use this for a homemade pesto. Hopefully it will turn out as good as it tastes. Got to cherish excellent food and know ur lucky to being able to spend extra money for the quality. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Flavor, aroma
My first venture into a gourmet oil. I initially thought it could be used for [heat] cooking but no. Still as the daughter of a Spaniard, I ALWAYS find use for a good olive oil. My first introduction to such an oil and it’s going to be hard to go back to cheaper oils.

  • Heavenly
WOW, I love this oil, can't get enough of it. My favorite way of serving it is as a dipping oil for a nice fresh crusty sourdough baguette, with a little sprinkling of salt. It's also fabulous as a finishing oil. Best olive oil I've ever had. Found it by Googling "world's best olive oil" then reading a magazine review the search turned up. Venta del Baron was rated #1 in the world. I was skeptical. Who wouldn't be? But Amazon had it and didn't have any of the runners up, so I decided to give it a try. Intense green olive on the palette with a strong peppery finish, just the way I like olive oil. I'm always on the hunt for good olive oil. Not sure what I'll do if I ever find a better one, probably overdose. ... show more
