I absolutely love this bike, I bought it as an upgrade from the cheap totguard e-bike I started with last year. (31 y/o 5'10 185lbs, moderate/slightly above-average fitness) PROS -Pedal assist feels good the whole time, it feels better to pedal than it does to throttle even with assist modes. I feel like I'm an enhanced rider and not like I'm being 'taken for a ride' (but with throttle you can do that too!) -Way more comfortable than my last bike, I can ride 2-3 hours before my butt gets sore and with one modification (listed in cons) my shoulders don't get sore for the entire ride. -Battery life will last plenty long for casual rides, especially if you stay on assist level 1 or 2 primarily -Looks great, not too gaudy. -Feels safe, I rarely go over ~23mph but I've had no issues with breaks or sharp turns. -It 'feels' really good to ride. You can choose your level of effort while using the motor to dictate your speed in relation to that. -Pedal Assist 1-3 is the sweet spot for me, 15-22mph average while pedaling. CONS -I didn't like the height of the handlebars, so I bought a $15 extension stem and now it's super comfortable on my shoulders. -Replacing the fat tires is very difficult at first, you'll want to buy some tire irons to help with the process -Tires go flat easily, 1 goathead will kill your tire slowly. Bought off-brand self sealing 26x4 tubes and haven't had a flat that using my pocket air compressor with wouldn't fix. (even when I hit a shard of GLASS) (Didn't have to take the tires off again after the first replacement) -Battery doesn't last QUITE long enough for me, if you set it to pedal assist 5 (max) you get about 20 miles or 1 hour out of a charge. If you set the pedal assist to level 1 and use the throttle sparingly you can get >=40 miles on a charge which for me is usually average 14.5 miles an hour and I get about a 3 hour ride (moving time) on that. On days off I really just want to stay out 5+ hours on it cuz it's so fun to ride. I have not attempted a ride using only the throttle (caps at 19.8miles an hour) but I would BET it goes somewhere from 20-30 miles on a charge without pedaling based on experience. -Pedal Assist 4 & 5 are where the bike starts to lose some of its charm. If you want to go super fast for a minute it's fine but the pedaling stops feeling *as* good when you get over 27mph, and it EATS the battery fast to use them. -Bike begins to lose strength at lower battery levels. Once you dip under ~50% you won't be able to reach top speeds anymore. I'd recommend you try to get to your charger around 15-30% I can't get off this thing, I ride 1.5-2 hours every day and I really love it. I recently purchased a 1200w 60AH bike thinking I wanted an upgrade from this one and it's honestly TOO powerful. If you're wondering what the sweet spot is, it's probably the 750W 15-20AH range like this Velowave offers. Maybe consider a second battery and a rear rack to carry it if you're like me and want more range. And you might want to buy two of them so you can bring somebody with you cuz you'll want to be on this thing all the time. ... show more

This bike was an easy assembly (a 14yr old did it in under 45min, alone), and it looks awesome. Acceleration and top speed are amazing, and so is the battery. I've gotten to 34 miles per hour when going all-out on max pedal assist and max gear with a full battery, but this might be because I don't weigh much! Everything was perfect, but then the lock switch that needs to be turned to remove the battery broke clean in half. The lock switch had cracked in two (a cheap plastic piece), and made the battery irremovable. I could still charge it when the battery was in the frame though, so I left it for a few weeks, until one of the wires hooked onto another bike one day at the bike rack, and the wire was yanked out because I hadn't been paying attention. This disconnected the battery, so I had to ride over 3 miles on a dead bike with the resistance of the inactive motor (not reccomended!) So anyway, with no way to remove the battery and reconnect the wire, the e-bike was just a normal bike, until, after a lot of searching, I found a bike shop that was able to work on electric bikes (several refused to help)! They had to take out the entire battery locking mechanism and reconnect the wire, which was a whopping $200+. I should mention that I did reach out to customer service in this whole situation, and they were responsive and tried to be helpful, but just couldn't do much. I asked for a new lock switch piece, which they sent for free, but I just didn't end up needing it when the situation was resolved. So anyway, in the end, a critical and cheap piece broke, a wire was yanked out, and a shop did work on the bike so that it still works with a modification to the battery compartment mechanism. One more thing: the gear change has gotten stuck on me a few times, so when I change gears it sometimes everything locks up and I have to mess with it until it works again! Showed up early,packaging is top notch,not a single mar or bend. It was handled well,so if your box comes beat up,especially where the front wheel rests,I'd document unboxing. Get one. These really are nice. Cannot be be beat. I almost wasted $1000s by buying other brands. Did ALOT of research and came back to velowave. Do yours and you will understand. Outta the box the set up is EZ and on the road in no time. Plenty of power & 5 levels to pick,with thumb throttle. Ebikes are heavy,so beware,this is a large bike,be sure this style fits you. I'm 5'11" 195lbs 56yrs old & in good shape so no problems for me. Brakes are strong, the rear moans,but it's ez to fix. Power is really good,probably too much for a beginner in top level. No problem going 24 in level 5. Levels are well spaced and u can find a sweet spot. Rode it twice to get accustomed, then went in to the basic display and changed 1 parameter which gives power earlier & adds alot of top speed. Battery life suffers,so don't do anything if you want range... Ebikes take a lil getting used to,mainly the pedal assist,it takes about 3/4 to 1 revolution for PA to engage, and has a bit of run on after u stop pedaling, so the bike doesn't slow immediately when u stop pedaling, u have to tap a brake..it took 1 ride for me to adapt. There are fancier bikes for alot more money. Alot. Velowave is a direct seller, not a rebadged bike with a huge mark-up. ... show more
