🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Velowave Electric Mountain Bike garners high praise for its quick and enjoyable performance, sturdy build, and easy assembly, making it an attractive choice for both new and experienced riders. Customers appreciate the inclusion of assembly tools and find the bike to be really fast, easily exceeding its suggested top speed. While offering a plush ride, the lack of full suspension is noted but viewed as a fair trade-off considering the bike's affordability.

Pros

  • 🚲 Exceptionally well-packaged and arrives in perfect condition
  • 🔧 Easy assembly with included tools
  • ⚡ Offers a fast and powerful riding experience
  • 🚴 Handles various terrains with ease
  • 🔋 Long battery life with a strong powerband in all assist modes

Cons

  • 🔩 Some included tools may not be of the best quality for heavy torque
  • 🛣️ Lacks full suspension, which can make for a bumpy ride on rough terrains
  • 🏋️ Front fork has limited adjustments and may not suit very heavy riders

Should I Buy It?

If you’re looking for an affordable electric mountain bike that performs well and is beginner-friendly, the Velowave Electric Mountain Bike is a solid option. Despite its lack of full suspension, its speed, build quality, and battery life make it a worthwhile investment for casual rides and altitude adventures alike.

  • good value for the low price
Color: Sliver Style: Standard
very well packaged /boxed . easy to assemble. very well made frame ,very comfortable .just went over first 100 miles using as a commuter to work . has amazing power in all modes. only problem i have had is that rear brake "pulsed" roughly when applied. i found the rotor thickness varied from about 1.8 millimeter to about 2.18 millimeters . i purchased a shimano 180, 6 bolt rotor and that was perfect fit and cured problem .also be aware that some components like the fork and calipers are unbranded as with many of these bikes in this price range, one has to hope that repair and maintenance parts will be available in the future.but over all for the price i think this is an excellent lower cost bike that is very well made and a pleasure to ride.the larger diameter 27.5 wheels with the quality tires absorb terrain smoothly and secure feeling .handle bar layout is great with the wide handle bars simple but effective computer screen .the walk mode is a real plus in tough terrain . the throttle mode is very quick to 20 mph and the 5 level pedal assist quickly to 28mph . ... show more

  • An Excellent eBike!
Color: Sliver Style: Standard
First off, the seller is incredible! I ordered my bike Monday evening (08/09) and received it early in the afternoon on Thursday (08/12). It was literally less than 72 hours from purchase to delivery and well ahead of the date promised. Fantastic! Also, hats off to the first batch of reviewers that were able to convince me this was the bike I needed. Here is my experience, so far: The bike came exceptionally well packaged and in perfect condition. The packaging was thick and moulded to the shape of the bike. All loose pieces and moving parts were tightly strapped in place, and there was not a single blemish anywhere. Plan a good 30 minutes to carefully unpack, because it is really secure in the box. To my surprise, there was also a package with all the tools needed to finish assembly of the bike. I don't have many tools, so this was really appreciated. I found the assembly to be quite easy. I watched the video a few times and then followed the printed instructions step-by-step. It's just the handlebar, front wheel, battery, and pedals that need to be installed. Other than having to make a couple attempts at aligning the front brake (I didn't tighten the wheel nuts evenly the first time), it was a ridiculously simple project. The battery still showed 48 volts when I powered on the bike, so I put air in the tires, oiled the chain, and the bike was ready to ride! Nothing needed adjusting and it even shifted perfectly smooth out of the box! Also, the bike is gorgeous when assembled and does not scream eBike, which is very important to me. My first ride was a quick 5 miles around the neighborhood. This bike is fast and I mean really fast. I found the 25mph "top speed" to be more of a suggestion... 30 was easy to achieve in my out of the box test using PAS 5 and 7th gear. Then I took it to the lakefront bike path for another ridiculously fun 25 mile ride. This bike is a beast! I'm a casual weekend rider, but found myself repeatedly (and respectfully) passing the skinny tire pro guys like they were standing still! The motor is smooth and surprisingly quiet with a strong powerband in all PAS modes. I was easily able to maintain 17-19 mph in PAS 1 and 22-23 mpg in PAS 3. I didn't use PAS 4/5 during this longer ride, because I wanted to save battery life. I'm an active rider and pedal the entire ride, so I only briefly tested the throttle. It works well and tops out at 20 mph. It will quickly get you home if you get tired or your knees give out. I added an upgraded seat and suspension post which, coupled with the front suspension, makes for a surprisingly plush ride. I'd also recommend ordering a water bottle holder, rear rack, and bag to complete your purchase. In summary, great seller and great bike! I highly recommend this Velowave to anyone looking for a bike that looks and performs as well as those costing hundreds more. Edit 09/16/2021 Still loving this bike!! I thought I'd give a quick update on the range/battery life I'm getting. I have yet to kill the battery on a single ride. My latest trip was 33 miles on PAS 1 and the battery was still going strong. Battery indicator down 1 bar and voltage showed about 46.5. ... show more

  • Good bike at the price point.
Color: Green Style: Standard
I've worked in bike shops, and have a good grasp on bike mechanics. I bought two of these bikes for my kids. One child is a teen and the fit is well. The other is 11, and is a bit too short for the bike. He does know how to ride e bikes, and is getting comfortable as I closely watch him for his safety. The bikes seem well built, and are well packaged for shipment. Getting them out of their boxes seems to be easiest done by cutting the box bottom and lifting the box up over the contents. I chose the other route and struggled to pull the bikes out through the top of the box. This isn't fun when you're alone and trying to minimize chips or scratches to the bike. Setup was easy, although I've built several hundred bikes out of the box. The bikes included tools, but I would be suspect of the tri-sided allenwrench. The size isn't true, and will strip out your hex headed bolts if you torque them too much. The bike includes a headlight which is a nice bonus. Adding a flashing red tail light would have been a better addition for safety, but I'll keep the headlight. Front fork suspension is OK. My 100lb child is compressing the fork about 50% on all around rides without any real off road riding. I haven't messed with the front fork, but it is a no name with limited adjustment. My guess is my 200lb body would easily bottom out the fork if I wanted to play on the trails. The brakes are cable/mechanical accuated disc brakes with 180mm discs. They seem to work well with the weight of the rider. The brakes on both bikes have a grinding sensation and a squeal, and I hope this will dissipate as the brakes are broken in. The brakes are cable actuated, and the cables stretched a lot while I was building the bikes. If you don't know how to adjust these brakes, please visit a bike shop to have them brakes adjusted after the cables stretch. Charging of the batteries was simple. The frame is large enough to add a water bottle cage with easy access. The power lags a bit, but is predictable when engaged. The bikes are fun to ride and bring a whole new dimension to mountain biking. ... show more
