  • Decent IPS Screen Tablet with Some drawbacks.
Size: VEIKK 1560 Style: 7 Shortcut Keys & Built-in Pen Holder
Pros: IPS Screen is Great (after tweaking settings) Build Quality Pressure Sensitivity Screen Includes Pen Holder Shortcut Keys (after modifying) Cons: Super Glossy Screen Pen Weight Shortcut keys require manually adjustment Screen Adjusting from Default Menu buttons located on the back are not easy to use The VEIKK VK1560 Drawing Monitor is ready to go out of the box, so to speak. After running through a couple driver installations and a couple of PC restarts the monitor is ready to go. First step that I had to take when using the monitor was to turn the brightness way up and adjust the color temperature of the monitor to a more appropriate RGB standard. The colors seemed to have an overall "cooler" color to them out of the box. Next up was the "quick keys" that are installed on the left side of the monitor. After installing the initial drivers that were provided there was no customization options available. After a restart of my PC, I then could adjust those settings. These keys are well built and easy to access when working on the tablet. The scroll wheel was a nice touch for features like zooming in and out. The pen works well and does not require to be charged which is great. But the overall build quality and weight of the pen leaves much to be desired. Yes, the pen responds well and has ample pressure sensitivity, but with the weight of the pen being so light it often felt unnatural when drawing. When I received the monitor it had a screen protector already installed. This is a great added on bonus that I did not expect. The only issue I have with the screen protector is the super glossy finish that it has. If Veikk has ever tried out a Wacom product the screen has an almost rougher feel to it that gives a sort of resistance which is needed when drawing on monitors. I used this unit on an i7 8700 unit with 16gb of RAM and tested using Clip Studio Pro, Paint Tool Sai, and Photoshop as well. Everything worked great, with the exception of Photoshop. For some reason when working on this monitor the edges of lines would look extremely pixelated and I couldn't replicate the quality on the other programs I tried out. But, this may be just a software issue as well. The overall build quality is great. The monitor is quite light but still has enough weight to keep it firmly seated when working. The stand is standard for most of these types of monitors, pull up on lever to adjust the angle of rest and the feet with small rubber grommets keep it firmly attached to the desk. The ports on the back are conveniently placed to come out the side of the unit so you do not get tangled up with wires at the bottom of the unit. Also included is a screen cleaning cloth and an artists glove. Overall this product is good enough to get the job done, beginners and people that are looking to try out graphic tablets may have interest in this product as it is a good product for the price it is at. The IPS screen really does look great with a few tweaks in the default menu. As someone that primarily works on an iPad Pro and Wacom Cintiq this product is worth checking out. I can almost see this being an almost portable budget product for those that don't want to shell out all the extra cash for either of the products I listed above. ... show more

  • Fantastic for new digital artists.
Size: VEIKK 1560 Style: 7 Shortcut Keys & Built-in Pen Holder
So I have been looking towards getting into digital art and graphic design for years now and have had my eye on this particular product for awhile based on the amount of good reviews and the price; I've been wanting to upgrade from a standard drawing tablet that I, quite frankly, don't like using. After getting my tax refund, I placed my order as soon as I could, 1 day shipping and all. I got the next day, opened it, set it up, and tried it in different programs including Photoshop. Worked like a charm the instant I set it up. I've been using this product for about two months now and here is what I can say about it, keep in mind this is from the perspective of a new digital artist who has never had a graphics monitor prior to this: -First off, I have to say it was larger than I was expecting, which in my case was a good thing. I was able to straight up replace my old computer monitor with it. The display is pretty vibrant and can be adjusted using the tablet software and the buttons on the back (I just use the standard defaults, they work fine for me), and the monitor itself can be adjusted to different angles. -There are three cables that go into it: the HDMI cable that plugs into the computer (it comes with a mini HDMI adapter if you need it), the power cable that plugs into the outlet, and a USB cable that also plugs into the computer. -Some people talk about the pen's weight, I think it's just fine personally. It has two buttons, the low button acts as the right click, and the high button toggles between the Pen and Erase tools. It also came with at least three of hard nubs and soft nubs each, along with a circular nub remover in the case. I just use the default hard nub that was in the pen, it works just fine for me, I don't like the feeling of the soft nub on the display personally. There is a little place on the monitor you can put the pen when not in use, where I have it. If you travel with this monitor, I'd probably suggest putting the pen in its case so you don't lose it, you're not gonna be able to really use this thing for anything other than a standard PC monitor without a pen. -Make sure you download the up-to-date drivers for this monitor, otherwise it may not work, or at least not as well as it could. -The hotkeys and dial on the left hand side are pretty cool and can be mapped via the VEIKK software that can be gotten from the website. I currently have them to the defaults, so they are as followed (assuming you have the Photoshop etc hotkeys set to their defaults): From top to bottom, K1 is F5 which hides/shows the brush panel (which I don't really use), K2 is the I key which is the Eyedropper Tool (useful when coloring), K3 is the Space Bar which uses the hand tool (again, I don't really use), K4 is CTRL+C which is copy, K5 is CTRL+V which is paste, K6 is CTRL+S which saves your project (you are doing this frequently, right?), K7 is CTRL+Z which is the undo command (probably the one you'll be using most), and K8 is the dial button and by default toggles between Zoom, Wheel to scroll up/down (you can hold the CTRL key to scroll left/right), and Brush Zoom to change the size of your brush. There is also a fourth option you can add to the dial button if you want to. -While we'll on the subject of the tablet software, there is also a checkbox you can use to turn on/off the Windows Ink function if you're using Windows 10. This allows you to use the 8192 pressure function this tablet has, giving your pen strokes a more dynamic and realistic touch. I love it. -The monitor also came with a drawing glove that you wear on your pen hand to keep your hand from leaving marks on the screen, as well as a cleaning cloth. Keep this display clean and free of debris or spots, otherwise it will affect your drawing. -I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem, but I occasionally have issues with the cursor jumping up to the top of the screen when I'm using the pen. It's not a big enough of a deal for me to look up the solution for it though, but it might be something to be aware of it it's a common problem. -I guess the last thing I'll really say is that this monitor is clearly made for right handed users. That's not a problem for me being a righty and the majority of people are right handed anyway, but southpaws might struggle a little bit. I guess in theory you could just flip it over and reset the orientation of the screen on either the software or in Windows settings, but it's still kind of awkward since the adjustment lever for the monitor is difficult to access in this state and propping it up would be even more awkward. If this is enough of an issue for you, you might consider looking for a monitor specifically made for leftys. That's about the jist of it. For the price, this thing is really amazing and I would definitely recommend it, whether you're a new artist looking to get into digital art like me, or a professional looking for a low cost high value solution compared to the more high end tablets which can range into the thousands price wise. My only regret is that I should've waited a little longer to buy it, very recently the price dropped by around $50 so I could've saved some money, but that's just me, what's done is done and I really have no major grips with my purchase. If I ever have to buy another graphics monitor for whatever reason, this will probably be my first choice. Excellent value, an absolute steal at its price. Try it, you won't be disappointed. ... show more
