I really thought that I would like this dock quite a bit because I really wanted to stand my Mac mini vertically and this had additional ports as well. However, I found that it was really inconvenient to access my ports after it was installed. In addition, some cables or devices that jut out of the back too far simply won't fit, or will bend far more than I'm comfortable allowing them to. I am still using this as a stand because it works well for that and allows me to hide my cables behind my monitor from how tall it is. I rotated the Mac mini though so the ports are on top. This makes the ports unusable unless you invest in additional cables to help it reach the top. I think this will be really nice for a niche group of people, but my biggest hindrance was that I simply needed easy access to my ports more than I originally expected. ... show more

I was just a little shocked when I took this very nicely designed Mac mini stand out of the box because the cheap, hard plastic felt was not really what I had expected to find. It clearly says that it is made of plastic in the description, but I somehow missed that and was expecting something with more substance to complement my Mac mini. That said, the design and function seem fine but I just think that at 50+ dollars, this product is not a lot of substance for the money. I’ll say the only cons I have about this product, as per my own experience with it, it does everything I need it to do. 1. Quality of the product build, it’s 100% plastic but I can still see it lasting a long time as it’s probably never going to leave the desk. 2. I wish there was a silver color option instead of just space gray (this is pet peeve) but at the same time warrants to be said. This product not being the same color as my M1 Mac mini is a bit of an annoyance. Also to note. This product does keep all devices connected wether the computer is sleep or restarted. I also don’t currently have an SSD installed to test heat performance so I’m not sure if that would be an issue over time. ... show more

This is exactly what it says, a cradle for your Mac mini. Vertical mound instead of the more widely advertised horizontal one. Plastic? yes, but so what? You expect aluminum for $60? This product fit my Mac M1 perfectly. All ports on the front work well. The SSD compartment holds (for me) a 1 TB drive. It makes my 256 GB Mac worth its weight in $$$$ saved by putting my extra cash into its RAM. The desk space saved by this vertical mount is really nice. But the color is not the same as my mini!! So what? You're not purchasing a three piece suit or a formal gown. The color contrast is acceptable...both in the gray family. (and by the way.....Amazon......there is no camera included with this item!) ... show more

I like the design and usefulness. Having the extra ports facing front is very helpful. My problem with the unit is that the hard drive bay doesn’t work. I’ve tried contacting the seller but have not had any response from Vaydeer. Follow up: The seller contacted me on their own and sent me a new unit which works perfectly. I really appreciate the sellers effort and very much recommend the product I have now. ... show more

I personally like the way this holds the MacMini in a vertical position, rather than the other hubs that has the computer sitting on top horizontally. I added a 2TB SSD to the internal slot that I use for all my Users files. The MacMini I have only came with 250GB, so I only keep the OS and applications on that one. Just be very careful when you assemble this hub. Once you snap the two pieces together you will never get them apart. Luckily, I routed the cables successfully and did not get them pinched, like some other reviewers did. It also adds much appreciated extra USB slots to the front where everything is easily accessible. The power-on light is really bright, so I had to tape over that to dim it down since the computer is in my bedroom. ... show more

    • Poor cable design

Over time I have noticed that the cords for this stand being so short and stiff they have started to short out. Also if you have an external disc drive , it will not work plugging it into the stand you have to plug it directly into the Mac mini. Doing this requires unplugging the stand from the mac mini then plugging the disc drive in. In doing this the other wires are hit which disconnects the monitor or disturbs the connection enough to shut the viewing off. It’s just a pain ... show more

When I first took this out of the box, I was disappointed. The plastic felt pretty cheap and I thought I would just send back. However, I decided to try it out. Once I set it up, it looked fine. The plastic is only obvious if you touch it--on my desk, it looks very similar to my Mac Mini. The color matches well. The design is okay. If you have to plug or unplug things on your Mac, it's inconvenient, but the front facing inputs on the stand itself are convenient. I also like the little lip on the ledge.
