  • Excellent All-around Dashcam
I have been using dashcams for many years. I was excited to see how good this N4 Pro with HDR and the Starvis 2 sensor is. After using this product extensively, I was more than satisfied. It was much better than any other dashcams I have tried. This is a very great dashcam all around. Here are some pros I found of this dashcam: 1. It is boxed and packaged very neatly and cleanly. 2. Installation was very easy. 3. I could touch & feel the quality of a well-made product and it also looks fabulous. 4. Brilliant image quality that is crystal-clear. Bright colors and captured everything clearly. 5. Voice command was convenient and handy. I really love this feature. 6. Starvis 2 image sensor and HDR worked well at night and low light situations to capture fine details including license plates. 7. Dashcam body seems very sturdy and durable. 8. Easy to connect to a phone and view recordings. 9. Physical buttons make it easy to navigate and customize. I especially like the side orange button that makes it so easy lock recordings whenever you need to. 10. Three channels virtually make this camera a 360 degree camera without blind spots. 11. The beep sounds are not annoying as other cameras. Very satisfying signature “locking” sound. 12. Customer service is very responsive and assures 100% satisfaction with their products. With all the high tech features in this camera, I could tell Vantrue has one of the leading technologies in this industry. And most of all, I was surprised by the superb quality in this dashcam. All the latest tech plus the quality and reliability really makes this dashcam shine. ... show more

  • Comparing Vantrue N4 Pro and Vantrue N2 Pro dashboard cameras
I've owned and used the “Vantrue N2 Pro Uber Dual Dashcam” for 6 years. My review of the “Vantrue N4 Pro 3 Channel 4K WiFi Dashcam” most likely will compare these two dashboard cameras. 1. Installation. Installation is relatively simple, but there are a few important details to be aware of. Unlike N2, N4 is not placed on a suction cup but is glued to an electrostatic film. The N4 camera holds very securely, unlike the N2, which could come off if the car were left in the open sun for a long time. The camera is wide-angle, and the viewing angle is about 160 degrees, so before starting installation, you need to check that nothing gets into the lens. In my Subaru Forester, in addition to EZ-pass and tint in the upper part of the windshield, there is also an EyeSight camera that takes up a lot of space under the rearview mirror. The third important detail is that the cable for the rearview camera is connected from above. You should keep 1.5–2 inches of space between the camera and the ceiling of the car; otherwise, you will have to use the “USB-C Adapter Side Bend Right Angle Type C Male to Female Adapter.” The N4 is equipped with a rearview camera. I expected that installing a long cable between it and the main camera and installation would be complicated. As a result, installing the rearview camera was very easy and took about 15 minutes, about half of the time I spent installing the main camera. I regret I didn't install a backward camera sooner. As far as I know, the N2 doesn't support a back camera. 2. Setup and use. This device is one that you install once and have no more worries about. I hope that neither I nor anyone else reading this will ever have to use the video for other purposes, such as watching it with a lawyer. There are several differences between using the N4 and the N2. I set up my new N4 slightly differently. I decided to no longer record videos in the salon. However, in N2, it was useful since, in addition to the salon picture, the road circumstances on the left, right, and behind you are visible on the camera recording from the interior. The N4 has an even better view in the salon, but I don’t need it with the back camera together. My friends who work for Uber and Lyft strongly disagree with my thinking. For them, audio and video from the salon, especially in the dark, are two of the most important functions. My setup includes GPS coordinates, which can be crucial in some situations. I had to buy a GPS module for N2 separately. The N4 has a built-in GPS module. The camera’s screen turns off after 3 minutes. Sometimes I need to check the position setting, but the constant video playing on the camera is distracting. Removing the N4 from the bracket is much easier; the position setting will not change, and the picture will be the same when you set it back. N4 features voice control, enabling users to conveniently activate or deactivate video or audio recordings with a single command, offering practicality. The ability to capture images or short videos using voice commands is a valuable addition. While the camera offers numerous voice control options, I intend to utilize only those six commands. 3. Watch the video. Previously, I had to locate and view videos stored on an SD card removed from my N2. I have never used an HDMI connection. On N4, I connected the dashcam to my phone and reviewed the recorded video. Wi-Fi support is truly a killer feature. The 4K resolution in the N4 compared to 2.5K in the N2 is one of the main advantages of this camera. To fully utilize the benefits of high resolution, you must use an SD card that supports high write speeds, at least 90–100 MB/s. The video clearly shows the license plates of the cars in front and behind you; you can often see the license plates of oncoming cars, the faces of passers-by, and the inscriptions on the signs. I could read the phone number on the front sign of a store from the recorded video. A clear image is recorded at night and in the garage, under artificial but insufficient lighting. The user guide mentions that the latest Sony sensor, STARVIS 2, ensures an exceptionally sharp image. While the specifics of its function are not my concern, the outcome is significantly noticeable. The video quality is remarkably superior, in both daylight and nighttime conditions. 4. What's next? For my N2 camera, I purchased and installed a Hardwire Kit with Circuit Fuses for parking mode video recording, and I plan to do the same for the new N4. I'm still using my old 64GB Samsung SD card. I’m considering replacing it with a larger 256GB or 512GB high-speed memory card. ... show more

  • Excellent build quality, high res video - Value for money
Included Items * Pretty much everything that you need to install is included even a plastic pry tool to hide the cables under the head liner. Included items are - Front camera, rear camera, 20 ft USB-C cable to connect front and rear camera, ~10 ft USB-C cable to connect the front camera to the cigarette lighter power adapter which has an additional USB-C port for charging other device as well, 3M stickers (couple of extra), pry tool, adhesive promoter, cleaning cloth, warning sticker (protected by Vanture dashcam) Build Quality * Excellent build quality * Well packaged Installation * Straight forward installation with clear documentation. All you need to do is connect the front camera to the USB-C power, connect the front and rear camera via USB-C cable. * Installation gets a bit tricky depending on the model of the vehicle and how you want to route and hide your cables. I installed it on a 2023 Sienna. It was easy to hide the front camera power cable by running it though the roof liner, bringing it down behind the a pillar and connecting to the power. However connecting the front and rear took a while since it has be routed through the roof liner all the way to the rear passing through the a, b & c pillars. At some places, it was difficult to pry the plastic cover and hide the cable behind. So the clean installation depends on the type of your vehicle. It took 2-3 hrs for me to install it clean without any cable visible outside. Front Camera * Not a touch screen. Its the only limitation that I see on this. However it makes sense as well since the display is pretty small and it would be hard to work with when you are driving. 4 buttons at the bottom does all the navigation/selection which would be easy with a bit of muscle memory in the long run. Rear Camera * Doesn't have any controls on it. Settings like rear video resolution etc., can be controlled via front camera or app itself App * The best part of this setup is the Vantrue app. Its pretty easy to pair the device with the android mobile app (instructions given in the paper manual was very clear and spot on). * App provides easy access to all the settings. I felt its much easier to change the settings on the mobile app than the front camera buttons since you are working on a mobile device with touch screen. * Settings are easily laid out and the app is easy to navigate between different views (single camera view or all 3 views in one). One thing which is missing is about the description of the settings. Most of them are self explanatory however having a small help description for each setting would be helpful Video quality * Video quality looks great both on the day time as well as the night time low light conditions * Easy to read the license plate on the other cars (only on the 4k resolution). It gets a bit fuzzy on the 1080p resolution. Using a 256 Gig samsung pro endurance card so it shouldn't be a problem for me recording in 4K Final thoughts * Overall its a good purchase. Excellent build and video quality for the price with a good app to support. Will update the review after using it for a while. Have to try it out on different lighting conditions and also to see if it gets hot during the hot summer days. ... show more
