He was excited every morning to see what tea he would get to enjoy. The chai varieties are especially good. There are a few flavors in here we hope to buy individually because they were so good! Vadham introduced me to what tea is supposed to taste like and I was in shock!! It's fantastic! I realized, as they say, most of the tea we grew up with in the US is stale and old -- all the boxes teas, Lipton, etc. I hated tea because it always tasted like wet, stale leaves to me. Vadham tea is a revelation! The fresh smell is incredible and the flavor, when brewed is something I've never had before -- rich, complex, satisfying, amazing. I sent gift packs to my family so they could share the taste. I'm also very happy the company sources their tea from farmers who share in the profits. This is a truly fantastic line of products and the founder of the company seems to have both a good sense of responsible/ethical practices and the supply line to source these teas fresh and get them to consumers while still fresh. Okay, let me be honest here: I am NOT YET a tea snob and I am still learning about teas, especially Indian Teas, but I am fairly knowledgeable about Chinese Teas so remember what I am accustomed to while you read my review. The Tea that I ordered came the next day and it came in resealable, lined, paper packaging envelopes which is perfect for tea because it keeps the light out. When I first received this tea I opened one of the black Darjeeling packages and unconsciously compared the colors and leaves to Chinese Teas and made an immediate, and incorrect, judgement that these teas were low quality. I returned the tea to its packaging, tossed them in my pantry, and forgot about them until just the other day. I was looking for some Dancong and upon realizing I had drank all of my beloved Oolong Tea, I decided to try the black Darjeeling tea that I had preciously opened. FANTASTIC! That's what I can say about the black Darjeeling Tea that I brewed. The tea was clean in the mouth, very delicate, slightly floral and sweet, with no unpleasant after taste. I brewed the tea western style in a ceramic pot and added about 3.5 grams of tea to just over 8 ounces of water bringing the temp to right at 200 degrees. I have tried many teas over the years but nothing prepared me for these. A little background. Right now, I cannot indulge as I'd like to with fine tea ao I've been making do. I have a hard time "spoiling " myself, preferring to do for others before me. I got this set to give away at a company party since I wanted to do something special for a fellow tea lover and I had heard high praise for these teas. However, due to a shipping error, these arrived the day after the party! There I was with this amazing set and no one to give it to. I could drink it without feeling guilty and I set about making my first cup of Saffron Chai. The Saffron Chai is without a doubt the best tea I have ever had. It hits the correct balance of robust black tea flavor and delicate spices. Everything blends perfectly and works to transform into a unique, yet comforting, taste that transported me into a mini vacation. The other two teas were also exquisite and all of them were gone all too soon. The tins are marvelous for little treasures and very well made. As soon as I can, I plan on indulging in many more cups of this amazing tea. Kudos to the person who came up with this blend. ... show more
