  • Should've take a photo before digging in
From the picture, what I got was pretty darn close to what is shown. The contents are not exact, but they were close enough. I recognized some of the stuff before I bought it because I used to raid the kid's section at our local Asian market (it closed :*( ). Every item is an individually wrapped single serving ("penny candy") of various wafers, crackers, cookies, jellies, fruit candies, gummies, chocolate-covered doodads, lollipops, small pieces of gum & gumballs, and a couple unidentifiable things. What I liked about this box was it really was a nice assortment. Some things were sweet, some salty, and some both. There were no cakes or hard candy (other than 2 lollipops). The chocolate stuff was excellent. Even the cheap stuff in Japan still has a real quality taste, unlike in the US where a lot of cheap chocolate candies or wafers are made with waxy, barely chocolate-tasting gunk. There were a few puffed corn tubes (think one giant cheeto) with powdered cheese on them, not sure what they're called but I have always liked them. There was one thing though, it was like a sweet cookie with strong powdered cheese on it, and it kind of took me by surprise. It was very weird but I loved it. There was a cool "jelly stick" that was grape, kind of like a gummy floating in grape juice. I got a kick out of that one. There was a box of cereal flakes with a very happy cartoon corn cob on the package, covered in delicious chocolate. I'm trying to go from memory because almost everything is gone. There was a coke-flavored gummy that was awesome. Lots of air-puffed wafers, some with sweet and some savory. There were little fish on a bag of puffs, I know they're "fish flavored" but the fish & shrimp stuff is not a strong flavor & they're basically like puffed chips. There was a soda-flavored lollipop you could dip in powder, a hard wafer candy like a sweet-tart, a few small single pieces of gum & gumballs, and a bit of green apple taffy. I made a day of it and ate the leftovers the next day. The fun part was so many different flavors. There were 2 things I didn't like. One looked like a deflated fruit about the size of an olive, the other looked like the same fruit but whole. It smelled okay and I gave it a try, but holy crap it was SALTY. Like, mega-salty. It also had a preserved tang I didn't like it at all. I now believe them to be tiny preserved, salted plums called "kishu umeboshi." Bleagh! Not my thing, but still fun to learn about. For 12 bucks it was a lot of fun. The package came very quickly (only a few days!) and all the stuff was fresh and well within the dates on the package. They were protected well but unfortunately a lot of the crackers and cookies were all broken up. I imagine this happened before they were shipped, not a big deal but just making note of it. I liked 98% of what was in there, and it seemed like there was an effort to make sure it was an interesting assortment. I would definitely buy this one again. ... show more

  • A Box of Happiness
I ordered this as an act of self-compassion for myself. I have always been very curious about Asian products, they mesmerize me so I wanted to gift myself with this. I had this delivered to the middle east and it arrived in one week. I was not expecting it for at least another three weeks so that was a very pleasant surprise. Also the seller shipped it like the next day so that made a difference too. You're not going to get a very big box, it's going to be a small box and the snacks are small but you're getting a ton of variety. To be honest with you, the experience of receiving this from Japan, opening the box and seeing these lovely little packages is worth it enough. I felt so happy and carefully examined everything. It's very exciting. I downloaded a text scan app so I can translate some of the labels. It is exciting to just open something and see what it is. I received a lot of savory snacks which is perfect for me. I have eaten two of the savoury snacks so far. They are delicious. The flavors are definitely more natural and complex than the snack foods that we're used to. I really like that. There are a couple of fish products in the box and I was kind of worried about this but so far I have eaten one and yes it's a fishy product but it's a good fishy flavor and I actually enjoyed it a lot. So I don't think that should deter you. And I think it's about 2 or 3 fishy flavors at most. There are a couple of gelatin based snacks in the box. I don't consume pig gelatin so I might wait and try to figure out the type of gelatin that is in those few small snacks. Other than that, everything is perfect. It arrived in perfect condition, nothing was damaged whatsoever. I think some of the other reviews might have had that experience if the shipping took a long time, international shipping can be rough sometimes. For me it was perfect though. Keep in mind that if you are ordering from the states, it's going to take longer than a week for it to reach you. I might update with more photos, of the actual products. That's definitely something I wanted to see myself before I ordered. But for now, I say, go ahead and order this, it's a wonderful little package. Thanks to the seller for making this possible. I think a lot of us want to visit Japan, and we have a lot of curiosity about the country and the culture and it's really great to be able to experience in this way. Cheers! ... show more

  • Great buy!
Came fast, everything seems to be intact and unbroken. I've noticed some things listed are exchanged for others but it's not too bad. Size is on the smaller side but the treats are pretty good. Overall, great buy!

  • Great Variety!
I saw many reviews saying how their products arrived broken or not in good condition. Mine arrived completely in tact and in great condition! Almost all the snacks were amazing and tasty. Only problem I have with the snacks that were sent is that their were a lot of savory snacks and not enough sweet candy. Everyone reading this needs to understand Rut these are dagashi snacks, which are cheap snacks in Japan similar to penny candy's in the US. So I wasn’t expecting any full size candy or snacks in this package. Mine came with a great variety of snacks and will purchase again! I noticed that the price also fluctuates greatly I ordered mine for $20 and after I received mine the price went down to $10 maybe the price might change depending on the quality of snacks in the box? That might be why I received a great choice of snacks. I’ll be ordering the $10 box and leaving another review to see the difference sin quality Edit: I received my second one, and I am even more impressed with this one than the last one! Better variety and cheaper as well! I am 100% recommending that you give this a try, especially for the price you can’t go wrong ... show more

  • Packaging left a lot to be desired
The candy was cool, but it seemed like a lot of different "penny candies" you'd get at your local Asian supermarket. I bought this for a gift and I am glad I got it first as it just came in a plastic bag. However, it went over well as a gift for a teenage boy
