  • Solar Game Changer
Color: Midnight Black
The solar charging is a game changer. They may not be the greatest headphones on the market for sound quality or ANC, but the fact that you never reach for your headphones only to realise they are not charged is priceless. I would perhaps like them to be a bit better for using whilst running etc. (sweaty situations) as obviously they come into their own when used our in the sunshine. ... show more

  • Bad headphones, dishonest media coverage
Color: Sand Gold
TL;DR: They are very uncomfortable and sound pretty bad. Giving a negative review to make sure others don't fall for the same trap. I bought these headphones since it had some positive coverage from a couple of publications and I wanted to try something different from the mainstream options--which I regret. I'm returning these ASAP. Media coverage wise: - The writer for the review on WIRED gave these headphones 8/10 and said it is a "a fine listen" yet gave the Bose QC45 a 7/10. I don't know how you can remotely come up with that conclusion unless your target sound signature is that of the Beats Solo or some budget SkullCandy headphones. - The ad on Amazon quotes both TechRadar and WhatHiFi separately but note that they are both owned by Future Plc (you can also tell because the nav bar on the top are literally the same with different colors). Also the quote on the Amazon page conveniently omits the prefix to the phrase "Urbanista believes it has found" before quoting "a way to offer audio lovers "virtually infinite” playtime while helping the environment at the same time." After trying out these headphones--the Urbanista Los Angeles seem like they were designed by someone who hasn't daily driven any of the mainstream options (e.g. Sony, Bose, Sennheiser) before building their own headphones nor daily driven their own Los Angeles headphones. Sound quality is subjective but I found these to sound very muddy. They sounded veiled and lack clarity. For reference I prefer the harman curve and generally favor sound signatures found in Sony (non-XB) and Master & Dynamic headphones. Comfort wise, it hurts to wear these. I'm not expecting Bose QC45 levels of comfort (which is what my s/o uses daily), but whats the point of having exceptional battery life if no one can wear these comfortably for longer than five minutes? The control scheme is unintuitive--the power button is actually the middle button in between two volume up and down buttons . The lone button next the charging port and power/charge indicator is actually a 'feature' button. Why? Also the buttons are unlabeled--figures. I haven't used these long enough for an endurance test but they don't feel particularly high quality nor cheap just okay--though the soft pleather on the head band and ear cups feel and look very cheap in person. The sand gold color looks almost more pink than sand colored. ... show more

  • Awesome concept but so tight!
Color: Sand Gold
These are a great headphone's in terms of, the quality of sound, the noise cancellation is on point, they charge in the sun so they don't to be plugged in to charge them. However, they fit like a vise grip. The pads sit on your ear not over your ears. They were so tight they gave me a headache, and I don’t have a pumpkin head. Sooo close to being perfect. Also, they were not compatible with my Air Mac. ... show more

  • Awesome!
Color: Sand Gold
These are perfect. My other wireless headphones died often. These never do since they are constantly charging in any light.

Color: Sand Gold
You have to manually disconnect from one device to get to another. ANC is not great. Worst of all they crush my head and can’t wear for an hour. I’m not a huge guy either. Returning

  • Wonderful... Except for...
Color: Sand Gold
I wanna say, this is my second pair. The first cracked after 6 months in the band, same as those other pics. I got them replaced and used them every day, at least a couple hours before or after work, maybe a little bit at work if it was slow. The sound quality is better than sound in real life. I've probably had to actually plug these in to charge maybe 6 times in 6 months because of the solar charger. And I personally found them to be fairly comfy, unlike some others, and I have an above average hat size as an American. That's about where the benefits end. They have some connection issues if you don't download the app. For some reason the app needs more permissions than I usually feel comfortable with, which is an entirely different concern but the app is pretty useful for customization. I saw someone talk about dizziness and I have a feeling that's from a particular setting, that detects when you take them off, and it adjusts pressure for sound cancelation. You can turn it off in the app and still use the sound cancelation. But the biggest problem by far is the crack, obviously. What I had assumed was a manufacturing detection in my first pair, I now understand is just a total designed failure. The internal structure support of the band ends PRECISELY where the cracks appear on every set of cracked headphones in the pictures above, as well as my first pair and current pair. They still seem to function and charge, at at least 99% the same efficiency as they did before cracking, so I don't think it affects the solar panel of the band, but it's still a serious design flaw, that I'm sure will result in inability of use within weeks if not day based on the last pair, given that they will likely soon just start falling off my head, or the solar panel may suffer greater depreciations without the band for support. I cannot recommend a product that costs over $100 that doesn't last 6 months TWICE. ... show more

  • TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, broke soon after purchase, 'warranty' seems to be a scam.
Color: Midnight Black
I have gotten nowhere with customer service. They want me to return my broken 'Los Angeles' headphones under warranty through the amazon store where I bought them, which seems to be nearly impossible. The headband seems totally flimsy and broke within a week or so of purchase. This is the first product I have purchased of Urbanista, and by far the most frustrating warranty process for headphones I have had to deal with. 0/10 totally not impressed. ... show more
