This works for what I intended it for, to peek into the dark corners of our rural property at night from our home deck. It works well for this type of use. I can easily see all 6 acres of our property with the IR on this camera and far out past our property line. The photos I added to this review were taken 980ft from where I was standing with this camera to the side of the house in the photo, according to g maps measurement. The photos/videos that this camera produces have a ton of digital noise lines, but the image on the actual screen looks pretty good while your looking through it. The item is fine if you dont expect much from the photos/videos it takes. About what I was expecting for "night vision" in this price range. ... show more

Not a monocular device or scope. the screen is tiny YET it must be held away from your face to view it. FAR Too distant for my senior eyes to comfortably use for sure. That screen at a distance makes you exposed and lit up so you are not covert in any way since the bright light of the screen is like a flashlight shining on your face at night. This defeats the purpose in many applications since the animal or person would easily see you glowing. Then you cant pan out so the field of view is very tiny and it is hard to stay ON a viewed object or animal. The image gets blurry as you change distance and it must be manually refocused. Even the menu on the tiny screen is so small it is difficult if not impossible to navigate the menus. I am returning this to amazon because it was advertised as a monocular scope and really it is not useful for that purpose as well as difficult to use and focus. Its like using a telescope to view something close up You can not stay on the target or maybe not even find the target at all. ... show more

First off, the night vision adpect DOES work; you can see in the dark. However, I've not yet tried it outside of my house, sp I don't know how well it will do out to greater distances. Still, while it does work within the confines of a home, the viewing window is far too narrow; it's like looking through a cardboard tube and trying to figure out what it is you're actually looking at because everything is "full size". I'm not very familiar with IR use in general, but I'm going to have to find something with closer capabilities, under 20', because this works but not for my situations. ... show more
