BeanKOneal Universal Garage Door Keypad I tried for a couple of hours to program this remote to no avail. Finally got it to program & work my Sears door motor Model 139.53600 / Liftmaster 41A3066. Sears Remote Model 139.53718 It didn't program correctly or work because I used the DIP switch settings from my original operable car visor remote. It has 8 dip switches. After a couple of frustrating hrs, checking & rechecking my dip switch settings, I almost gave up & thought I'd have to return it. I climbed a ladder to check the Craftsman main motor dip switches which happened to be a 9 DIP switch. I cleared the Universal keypad of all previous codes and put in the 9 DIP switch codes. (following the written Universal Keypad instructions precisely) It installed it perfectly & the remote keypad now works with my 25-30 yr old Craftsman 1/2 HP garage door opener, along with my original car visor remote control. (which had only 8 dip switches) - the first switch from the main motor evidently wasn't used or needed on the remotes they sold with the garage door opener unit. In small letters on the bottom of the programming instructions was the following helpful instructions: "if your programming process is messed up or your pin is messed up, you can press and hold Buttons "1" and "#" on the keypad for 5 seconds and it will restore factory settings." I cleared the codes EACH TIME after putting in a couple wrong "Opener I.D 2 digit codes and it worked on the third try. Compatibility list & Opener ID codes are included in the precise instructions. (only a couple words spelled wrong..Example: they wrote TEXT each time instead of TEST, No biggie, I understood the instructional sentences clearly. This opener is stated to work with most "Colored Learn button" Garage door openers as well as most popular DIP switch Garage Door openers. 1993 to present. Very clear Instructions are given for all types of motor opener code settings. Make sure you pick the correct procedure. Also lighted keys for night operation. Works w/9V battery installed. I needed a remote that would work my garage door (Chamberlain belt drive) and my friend's garage (Genie 7055). To me, programming garage door remotes is daunting - for my particular issue, there is very little information out there that spells it out in no uncertain terms. This was the only remote I could find that seemed to be truly universal, as most remotes that I can find will either work with Chamberlain or Genie, but not both. The cons first: The remote does not seem very sturdy - it is very lightweight. The clip rattles and wiggles and doesn't feel like it fits securely, although I would not be able to remove it easily and I think it would actually take good effort to get it off again. Also, the instructions are... quite hard to follow. The directions are separated by garage door type, but they are also split into parts with no indication of which parts are supposed to go to which section. That is my only REAL complaint. There is a video on this page that shows someone programming the remote that helped me figure out the instructions. The pros, and the reason I give it 5 stars and not 4: If you know which type of garage door opener you have and manage to find the sections in the instructions that apply to you - this thing is INSANELY easy to program. I spent more time trying to find the darn learn button than I did actually programming the remote. This took a task I was OVERWHELMED with trying to figure out and made it a 5 minute project (total, between both houses). I spent three days trying to research my stupid garage door openers (neither are new and one is very difficult to access. I can't possibly be the only one with this problem). ... show more

Our community has an entrance and exit gate operated by the older dip switch style remotes. Needed a 3 button remote to operate the two gates (each coded differently) and my chamberlain garage door with the learn button. The problem with this remote is that the dip switch code does NOT get stored and only works for the final dip settings so even if you properly code two different gates, it will only use to last code set for both buttons.
