The Unitek Tesla to J1772 Charging Adapter is very compact in size and came with a nice cloth storage pouch. With NACS becoming the new US charge standard this adapter is going to be very useful to charge existing J1772 equipped vehicles. I have used this charging adapter to charge my Kia EV6 at a Tesla destination charger. The unit is very compact, measuring just about 5" long and 2-1/4" in diameter, so it can be easily to stowed in the glove box or even the center console. It comes with a soft cloth storage bag that keeps the adapter clean and protected from scratches. It has a very solid, rugged feel; it seems to be very well made. Connections fit perfectly and I like that it latches to both the Tesla plug and the J1772 port in the car. A QR code is included that provides a link to the online user manual. Instructions are simple: Attach the adapter to the plug of the Tesla destination charger, wait 30 seconds, then plug it into the car's charging port. The unit worked well but required cycling the vehicle power to get charging to start. When charging my EV6, it was necessary to do the following work-around. After initially plugging in, the car says, "charging unsuccessful." Leaving the charge cord plugged in and powering the car on then off gets charging to initiate. This is a known issue when charging the EV6 (and some Hyundai and Genesis vehicles) from Tesla destination chargers, and I have experienced the same issue with a different Tesla-to-J1772 adapter, so it is not the fault of this Unitek adapter. Kia offers a TSB update that reportedly fixes this issue (ELE283 for the EV6 Wind AWD), but I haven't had it installed on my car yet. Regardless of the need for the work-around, this adapter worked well, staying cool when charging at about 40 amps for 90 minutes. It is a great accessory to carry in the car for those times when a Tesla destination charger is available. And it is a great value for the price. ... show more
