  • Good battery with good support
Style: 48V 20Ah 0-1500W(LG4800 Cell)
I purchased this battery in July 2022, writing this review in February 2023. I have ridden ~1500mi on this battery so far, entirely over summer and fall 2022 (around 100mi a week). Range depends on a lot of factors about your own bike, but for my bike (1500W, 29x2.25in medium-fast rolling tires, ~85lb without me) and my route (5mi of relatively flat bike path/some roads and 5mi of pretty significant hills to and from each day) I get about 23-28mi of range. I have the 20Ah 48V 1000W model and paid extra for the genuine LG cells. I pull 33A (my controller's maximum) continuously going up hills with no issue. Charging from dead-full takes around 6-8hr but it's best to keep your battery from going completely flat if you can help it, your cells will last longer. I usually charge from around 20-40% and it takes less time. The bike has fallen a couple of times, and the battery has broken off its mount and skid across the pavement a couple times, which has scratched the housing but the battery is functionally fine. When purchasing, I asked them to clarify if the battery were waterproof or not, they said it is resistant to light showers/drizzling but to use a waterproof cover for anything more. I had a major issue and a minor issue with the battery and UPP made it right both times and at no cost to me. After ~800mi, the connector had gotten hot and melted, shifting the contacts resulting in no power getting to the bike. This was my fault, as I was not switching off the battery before installing/uninstalling, which caused arcing and carbon buildup in the connector which caused heat through a bad contact. Always switch off the battery with the red power switch before installing/uninstalling it. I contacted UPP and requested a replacement connector and told them that I could solder it in myself so shipping for a repair wasn't necessary. They sent me an entire lower housing+mount, which had a new lock and keys, new mount for the bike, and of course, the connector. I installed this and have had trouble free riding since, and no carbon buildup after learning about switching it off. I do not know if/what they would've charged if it needed to be repaired by them, I didn't ask. I offered to do it myself from the start. With the battery open for repairs, I inspected, and it seems nicely built. Granted I am not a battery construction expert but am familiar with electronics. There is paper insulation covering the cells to protect them from the metal BMS/other items in the housing, but I put some extra plastic insulation around some corners that looked a little under-protected but this probably wasn't necessary. The included charger died on me within a few weeks of purchase, I emailed UPP and they replaced it after I showed them a multimeter reading of the charger's output (being nothing). The replacement charger has been trouble-free since. The charger gets very warm so try to leave it on a hard surface, not carpet. The battery doesn't heat up during charges. With purchase of the battery, they sent me a complimentary waterproof cover which I had to request over email. After a few months of on-off almost every day, it has started to tear and fall apart. I didn't request a new one and just ordered another (for maybe $12?) and consider it a consumable item especially if you leave it sitting in the summer sun. I have ridden in a few downpours and it seems to keep water off the battery. I'm very content with the battery and UPP has helped me every time I had an issue. The connector issue was due to my error in usage, but they still sent me a replacement. The charger was replaced free of charge and has been working fine since. If I were to build another bike I'd buy from UPP again, but I'd probably get the rack-mount battery instead of the downtube but that's just preference, I imagine they're functionally the same. ... show more

  • Excellent quality battery
Style: 48V 24Ah 0-1500W
I replaced the battery that came with my ebike with this one, and the difference is significant -- above and beyond the ampere hour increase. The included charger is both quieter and smarter (the fan automatically shuts off when charging is complete). I was lucky to get 15 miles at top speed using the 15AH battery that came with the bike. Using this 24AH battery, I got over 40 miles at 80-100% output (i.e. over 40 miles at speeds between 16 and 25 mph). Not only that, but it had more than 25% charge remaining after those 40 miles too. My ebike's top speed even increased by about 1 mph. In short, it was a very costly upgrade, but wow: it's a great product. ... show more

  • I own a pedicab that I drive around town for marketing and teach yoga on the beach
Style: 48V 13Ah 0-1000W
I bought this battery with an electric assist since a pedicab is 80 lbs plus when people go on it so it’s been a great thing for my hips and back. It’s just enough and working well I have only had it two weeks after riding it without for 5 yrs. The bike shop put it in for me. So far so good. I just needed to be more clear in charging it and not draining the battery to quickly. Didn’t want to be Stuck anywhere with people with no assist up a hill. Lol. Happy riding peeps :) ... show more

  • USB port not charging
Style: 48V 13Ah 0-1000W
First i want to commend the vendor for speedy delivery.. I received it withing the 3-5 day window they advertised. Also, my review will be very limited for now. As i have just received the unit. the battery was a bit smaller than i expected.. But that is ok, as long as it has the wattage it should have.. I pressed the battery status button on the battery when i received it and i think either one LED lit up for a moment and then went out.. So i presume they shipped it with zero level of charger. I am a little concerned about that.. because i have read lithium batteries should not be held at such a low state of charge.. I did measure the voltage and it indicated there was 49 volts of charge in the battery. Sadly, the USB did not produce any change when i plugged in my iphone charging cable with my iphone attached. my iphone showed there was no charge. This was concerning. Later when i pluged the battery charger into the battery and began charging the ibike battery. I noticed the USB charger was producing a charge to the iphone.. and when i would unblug the battery charger from the ebike battery it would stop.. THis is leading me to believe the wiring of the USB charger was mis wired. I contacted the vendor for help to sort this out. I had bought hte battery so i could charge usb devices while out and about using the battery. I will update this review once i have received a response fromthe vendor and the issue is resolved. I ordered the 48v 13ah battery they sell. I dont have anything else to add yet. I have not yet plluged it into my ebike and tested it on a ride. and see how well it works for me. I have high hopes that the usb charging port problem will get resolved. The manual they provide does not appear to mention the USB charging port and explain the specs on it. such as voltage output and amperage output or total capacity , how much total juice that usb port can put out on a fully charged battery. 8/24/20 update: I have been in email correspondence with reps at Unit Pack Power.. trying to sort out why i was not getting any power to the USB port. My oringianl review that there is no reference to USB port on how it works and how to make it work is not in the manual (perhaps the vendor will add this to the manual in an update) I got an email, apparently form soneone in China, providingme with some answers to my question on the UBB port and how to turn it on and off. Apparently you need to swicht the battey in "on" position tnot only turn the battery output, but also the USB Port. the USB port produces about 1amp of poer and about 13000mAh.s according to the customer support at the china center for the factory. I agreed to increase my star level to 4 stars for now.. I still need to test the battery some to get a better sense of the quality of the battery. . I think the manual needs more work. The customer service, although very quick to respond, was not very good with resolution of the problem . they offereed to send me a replacement battery then later wanted me to remove the negative rating. I can understand them wanting me to provide or to recieve high ratings. And i am very willing to give high ratings if i feel they are warranted. The battery is very new looking and immaculate .. no scratches or anything. it appears they took good gacre to keep the battery prestine. they provided a slick compact charger and some addicgtional cables for conecting to my ebike. The manual had decent size print.. but i coudn't find any reference tothe USB port and how it works and the specs on it.. I am not sure what happenned.. but instead of the battery being delivered to my door it was left down at bottom of stairs. And strangely. my notification from amazon said someone had signed for it. I had not authorised anyone to sign for it and no one from my home was there to sign for it. THis alarmed me and then also it being left at bottom of stairs unattended and not by my front door concerned me. I don't know what happenned to cause that. I will update this review as i get a chance to propertly test the function of the battery on my ebike.. probably in the next week or so ... show more

  • Great battery!
Style: 52V 14.5Ah 0-1000W
I've been using this battery for awhile and it's great! It's the 52v 14.5ah with LG cells. I even opened the case and the build quality is top notch. So yes my next battery will come from them with the higher quality cells. The only thing I don't like is the charger that comes with it, it gets super hot and wished it had fan. ... show more
