  • 4.0 out of 5 stars While certainly not the best standing desk out there, I would buy this again.
Color: Light Maple Top/White Legs
I needed a standing desk for work and as much as I wanted an electric one, I was scared by reviews, as it seemed unless you went with a very high end model (>$800) there was a decent chance that the desk would eventually brick, and you'd be screwed. Fearful of purchasing an expensive desk that might not work after a couple of years, I discovered this desk which was manually operated, and I can say that this is a very good desk and I am very happy with my purchase! There are some things to take into consideration. Pros: - Desk looks great! - Raising and Lowering is very easy and straightforward. - You can use the handle on either side of the desk for personal preference - Quality of the raising/lowering mechanism feels very sturdy - Spacious: I have way more room on the desk than needed Cons: - The handle comes out easily and is nothing to rave about, but I suspect this is so that you can easily switch sides if you wish - My desk came with a really bad scratch (about 8-inches). Customer Service was great to work with on this, however, and I was able to get a partial refund, so I really appreciated that - There is a significant wobble to the desk when you have the desk in standing mode. While it's not to the point where the desk doesn't feel sturdy, it's very noticeable when typing. This is especially true when using the desk for the first time. I was very unhappy with the wobble at first, but I will say two things on this: 1) When I started adding things onto the desk, such a monitor, the weight helped reduce the wobble. 2) You also get accustomed to the wobble after a week or two. While it's still noticeable to an extent, it's more like small background noise that I can live with. Other: - I've been seeing negative reviews over how it takes time to crank the desk to the desired height. Honestly, I don't think this is that big a deal. It takes me about 20-30 seconds to get the desk where I want it. In the grand scheme of things, that's not a big deal to me at all and not something I would take away from the rating, especially since I chose a hand-operated standing desk. - Setup is not super easy, and some of the pieces are labeled wrong. I could see others giving a lower rating because of this, but I don't expect any standing desk to have super easy setup, unless you pay a premium price. Final Recap: Overall, this desk is great bang for your buck. I'm happy with my purchase and have no regrets despite some of the cons. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Overall nice budget desk
Color: Black Top/Black Legs
The seller had fast shipping, which I really appreciated. Also, the desk was packaged nicely in protective foam so it arrived in excellent condition. The instructions were easier to follow than Ikea's because each part is labeled with a number and the hardware with a letter (plus they included the wrench you needed to tighten things down). Definitely follow the instructions and don't tighten everything down right away. Even though I was careful I still had one screw that didn't quite line up. However, seems to be holding ok (even though it's 1/2 way in), and it's not in an obvious place, so that's fine. Overall the desk is quite nice. I ordered the solid black and it looks quite classy. I also like how it's got a very basic low profile frame, and I can use three computer monitors side by side (but barely). Unfortunately I'm one screw short because while I was assembling it one fell down the air duct. Oh well. Doesn't seem to compromise the desk's stability at all. I was worried the support bar across the middle would be at a perfect spot to bash my knees on (I'm 5'8"), but was pleasantly surprised that it's just far enough back that I won't have to worry about it. Also, the support bar serves as a great foot rest when sitting. Things I'm not quite as fond of: 1. The surface is so shiny my computer mouse doesn't seem to be tracking the best. 2. The crank bends a tad when you crank due to the level of resistance. Guessing with time this issue may resolve itself? 3. As some of the other reviews have mentioned, it is a bit tall for sitting at. Works ok for me since I have a long torso ... but not ideal. Would I buy it again knowing this? Definitely! It's the best priced stand up desk I could find out there, and it's a vast improvement over my last desk. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Good Value for the Money
Color: Grey Oak Top/Grey Legs
Exactly as expected. Not the easiest to assemble and I did need another person for a couple of steps, but I've assembled a lot of furniture and didn't find it to be terribly difficult, just took a little trial and error before I fully understood how it all went together. I think I had it assembled in about an hour. Definitely do not tighten screws all the way down until the frame is fully assembled; this is SUPER important. I read that in other reviews and in the instructions, so I tightened minimally until the end which worked well for getting things to easily line up with minimal effort. That said, there was one hole in the frame that did not line up at all no matter how much I wiggled things around; it was drilled incorrectly. To fix, I could have just drilled a new hole, but it was an area where there were a few screws serving the same purpose so I found that leaving out the one did not affect the overall stability of the desk and decided to just leave it out rather than go through the trouble. I feel it's important to keep in mind that furniture at this price point will often be manufactured with something a bit "off" and you may have to come up with a fix yourself or exchange it depending on the issue. This has often been my experience, so I'm not knocking off a star for the one badly drilled hole since everything else about this desk is great and I never have high expectations for cheap furniture. All-in-all it's a good value for the $$. It is very easy to crank up and down, takes me less than 30 seconds. I like that the crank is easily removable. The wooden top and metal legs look sleek and nice, better quality materials than what I expected at this price point. It's sturdy, barely moves at all if I intentionally try to shake it. I highly recommend if you need a standing desk. If there are any mechanical failings I will update my review accordingly. I intentionally chose a manual crank to hopefully avoid such issues, so we'll see. *Sliding keyboard tray purchased separately, not included with the desk. ... show more
