This is a great Wavemaker. The mounting that it comes in has rubber vibration dampened making it very quiet. It does make noise however kind of like a quiet ringing in your ears. After a while you don't even hear it. I have the w-25 model in a 75g tank 48" long by 18" wide and 22" deep I think and it functions great! I have it set to reef mode on the highest setting and it moves the water beautifully! One thing I would like to note is just how strong the magnets are. When installing the Wavemaker position it where you want it an place the outside magnet on the glass a good distance away from the wave maker and slide them together. If you just slap them together you could pinch your fingers and/or crack your glass. When I first got the wavemaker the impeller made a horrendous noise, almost a grinding/squealing noise. This went away on its own after about two excruciating days. This problem can also be remedied by taking the unit apart and coating the impeller shaft in Vaseline. The mob on the controll unit sets the wave length or rather how quickly a new wave is created while the pink button sets the power. The lowest the power can go is 30% there are 6 increments up to 100%. The mode button from left to right sets continuous, stop and go, sin wave, and lastly random reef mode. I Pushing and holding the mode button will lock it. Pressing and holding the speed/feed button gives you 10 min where it is in a standby state. ALWAYS plug the Wavemaker into the controll unit BEFORE plugging the adapter into the socket not doing so results in a serious electrical arch that is plainly visible and potentially very dangerous. ... show more

The product works as intended, however, it is too powerful to use in most common aquarium sizes. Might be better for a 6ft tank around several hundred gallons. It may work fine in 75 gallon if the tank is bare. It sucks in all plants even at the lowest setting. If they are on opposite side of 4ft tank it will lay all plants on their side. There is no good way to dilute the flow. The suction is as powerful as the flow. The magnet works well, but can damage the device if held in the wrong place (if you grab plastic part while base pulls on the other half of the magnet may rip in half). It can mimic a bare river system well, but is too powerful if you just want flow for a planted tank. ... show more

I’ve had this running for 3-4 years non stop first in a 125 mixed reef and then in a 210. Crazy powerful. Never cleaned or maintained it, about to buy a replacement just because this has lived a good life and by now it’s gotta be leeching something into the tank. I use the wave mode constantly, even when lights are off fish don’t seem to mind they find a rock to sleep in. Great buy and value. ... show more

    • Two great Pumps just make sure to clean them once a month

bought two of these. THOUGHT after 5 weeks they both stopped working because the propeller was spinning but water wasn’t being pushed. I didn’t know you could take these apart and clean them and it is very easy to do! The most important part is the little suck holes on the back of the pump. Once u take apart you’ll see there are 8 little holes on the back I cleaned out by just pushing a tiny drill bit through each hole with my fingers not a drill. They work perfect now just clean once a month and they work great. ... show more

I've had the product for about 6 months and it's malfunctioned. It no longer reduces strength during sleep when lights are off. It also no longer pauses for feeding. It no longer has variable speeds as it just blows on maximum.

    • Powerful, Excellent For The Price, DEFINITELY worth it

The media could not be loaded. I bought the 2100 pump and I absolutely love it, I'm using it in my 36 inch long 50 gallon acrylic saltwater reef tank on M2 mode (goes up to M4) with knob turned all the way up, with a small JVP 110 powerhead on opposite side so both pumps facing right at each other 36" apart to create a gyre effect which helps eliminate dead spots. I'll likely slowly start raising the flow a little with the controller over time as my corals get used to it. It's really quiet, this tank is in my bedroom and I had to put my ear up to it to hear it, my skimmer pump and algae scrubber pump are MUCH louder. The Magnets are extremely powerful, I have 1/2 inch acrylic and it has no trouble at all holding the pump in place, so much better than suction cups! It has replaced three Koralia pumps and has way more power by itself than probably five or more of those pumps, and that's only on M2. I have several SPS (hard Stony corals) which requires high flow, it's right up there with an Ecotech MP40 pump which costs six times what this costs with similar settings (I'm currently using an Ecotech MP40 in another tank so I can easily compare the two) I really like the Feed Mode, you hold the top right feed' button down for three seconds and it shuts the pump off for ten minutes for feeding, before in this particular tank I'd have to unplug three different pumps to do this. I also added a DIY mesh cover to keep my snails and anenomes safe so they don't get chopped up, I've been having to clean it daily with a toothbrush but it's worth keeping my anenomes alive, I use a DIY mesh cover on all my pumps. I probably wouldn't use this pump on a freshwater tank unless it was at least 55 gallons even on the lowest setting, this pump is powerful and would probably be overkill for many freshwater tanks, but if you have a reef tank 40 gallons+ this pump is for you! I probably wouldn't use it in a reef under 40 gallons, it would likely create a sand storm because it's that powerful! I could see myself even using it on a 90-120 gallon softie coral tank too, it's that powerful by itself. I almost purchased the 3400 but man I'm glad I didn't because it definitely would have been too much for a 50 gallon. I've attached a short video with the pump on M2, I tried to get shots mainly of some soft corals so you can see the flow pattern on that setting in a 36 inch long tank. Please excuse the detritus flying around, I had just cleaned the mesh on the pump right before I took the video! ... show more
