I wanted to love this product. Clearly, someone worked hard, but I could not publish even the first book. The tutorials were helpful, but time consuming. Too, the font kept changing despite multiple attempts to fix it. I contacted the author four times and never received a response. A proper title for this software would be Microsoft Word eBook Creator because that is the only input it will accept and its quite particular about what version of Microsoft Word the file was generated in before it will accept it. For it to live up to its name Of Ultimate...it should accept far more input. Microsoft Word is not the only word processor out there. Also it wants a table of contents even if your book does not need it. And it is biased towards EPUB books not the more popular MOBI format. It is crash prone and extremely complex to try to use with a fairly high learning curve. It wants to duplicate the functions of a word processor as well as try to convert the file. All in all too elaborate of a program and not worth the bother. There are plenty of free alternatives out there on the internet to convert your eBook far more easily than this. I tried uploading into it some Microsoft Word and PDF files and they did not work. The program said "successfully converted" but all I had were useless empty files. It does not have an auto start when you put it in the drive. You have to go directly to the directory on the CD and click on the .exe icon for it to load. If you don't know how to do this you will not be able to start the program; it will sit in the drive. I would not purchase this program again and have to write it off as a loss. Its only redeeming value is that the two eBooks, fonts and cover templates have some value. Otherwise it would have gotten one star. ... show more

First of all, I have tried some other programs but none of them have been quite what I was looking for. They each had their own good features but there'd be a rough learning curve or it would only be part of what I needed. UEC was pushing a hundred dollars so I put it on my wish list and it sat. What a mistake. This program is hands down the best one I have ever used. It's my new best friend (aside from the characters in my head). Within half an hour of installation, I had all the tedious title pages and descriptions set up for all 7 of my books. Within 3 hours, I had everything transferred from numerous unorganized documents on MS Word to the UEC program in a fashion that I can easily maneuver through. (All 7 books!) For me, I decided to organize my writing into scenes, instead of chapters, while I go through and make all the final corrections. I can then go back later and move them into proper chapters for publishing. So Easy! Breakdown: User-friendly - 5 stars (see above) Communication for UEC Support - 5 stars (quick and friendly in less than 24 hours) Installation - 5 stars (easy installed from disc on windows 8.1) Features - 5 stars (has what other programs don't... love it!) This product does not come in a box. It comes as just a disc in the mail so don't overlook it. However, this software doesn't need any fancy packaging. It is a steal at this price. With time being so precious to a writer, you will not be dissatisfied. My recommendation is to avoid other programs that offer less. Whether you write fiction or non-fiction, this program will pay for itself in one day. SO WORTH IT. ... show more

Poor product, extremely overpriced, misleading advertising (there is no box and there aren't even any instructions, other than a piece of paper with links on it). Instead of instructions, you'll be directed to sit through a series of explanatory videos, and if those are insufficient you can correspond back and forth with the developer over each little problem that arises. I was fooled by the few positive reviews, although I should have noticed something amiss when so many of them mentioned getting personal help from the developer when problems arose. From the nonexistent impressive-looking box, as shown, to personal insults directed at me for giving a negative review, everything about this product suggests amateurism. At best, this software is overpriced. Apparently few people are buying this product, so far. This is touted as a quality item. I wish it had been, but I'm sorry to say it's not. Edit: MY REVIEW WAS PUBLISHED ONLY A HALF HOUR WHEN NO LESS THAN *SIX* PEOPLE RUSHED OVER TO DISPUTE IT, A COUPLE OF THEM WITH INSULTING COMMENTARY. This is odd, in such an amazingly short interval, considering that as of this writing, there are only 17 positive reviews all total. My advice is to trust the positive reviews at your peril, as they seem to be choreographed to take a strangely personal interest in any honest critique of this merchandise. According to another reviewer, the developer reports negative reviews immediately to everyone on his mailing list, which is another indication of a lack of professionalism.     • Will get the job done and done well, but has some quirks and could be faster to operate

A good piece of software that will get the job done. Simple short cuts are missing, like hitting ctrl&s to save - instead you have to mouse over to the save button. There should also be some basic duplicate functions to make repetitive processes easier. Also, there is a ding alarm every time you save - as if you did something wrong. Not sure why that would be coded to operate that way? Formatting with text and pictures is finicky and some times you can't get it just right. BUT - you will be able to easily make an e book. The video support is great. I think this product will improve with feedback. ... show more
