  • Great fishing rod
Style: Old Model Size: 5'6" - Medium - 1pc
This is one of my favorite rods for its performance. It's small and easy to travel with but can still cast some distance. Casting with one hand with is feels amazing. Strong and sensitive.

  • Great rod!
Style: Old Model Size: 7'6" - Medium Light - 1pc
I fish this rod all the time off the jetty in Corona Del Mar. I’ve caught plenty of mackerel, calico bass, bonito and barracuda on it. Light weight for the length and lots of sensitivity. I had it paired with a Kastking baitcaster but the drag on the Kastking wasn’t stiff enough so I put my Penn Fathom 15 star drag on it. The reel is overpowered for the rod but it does great for what I fish for on the jetty. Would buy again! ... show more

  • Sensitive so you don't have to be.
Style: Old Model Size: 6' - Medium - 1pc - B Handle
This rod handled itself well while reeling in a 14 pound carp. Not once was I worried about the integrity of the rod. Good action and very sensitive rod tip. I love Ugly Stick products.

  • Very Affordable rods where the Plus may outweigh the minus.
Style: Old Model Size: 7' - Medium - 1pc
I break a lot of rods and rod tips and in general am fairly hard on my equipment. These are stout rods. I bought the 7 medium one piece and 7 MH 2 piece. Rod top section where the tip can sometimes break appears to be fiberglass 2 inch portion which will make it stronger so we will see. The rods barely pass as bass rods and are more like catfish rods but I am using for bass. I don't seem to see much difference between the one and two piece. The 2 piece MH is fairly stiff and I am using it as a kayak punch rod. The one piece MH is less of a crank bait rod and more of a chatterbait, spinnerbait or large lipless rod which is nice and will be what I use it for. Rod construction is what you expect from ugly. The plus side to the rods is they appear that they will last a long time. The rods are very inexpensive. The minus side is workable but. The rods are very heavy, possibly twice as heavy as the diawa corssfire or shimano sojurn, but only for certain applications. The second nock are the old school foam grips which really weight the rod down and are a bit larger in diameter that the standard cork. This is why it feels like a catfish rod. I have attempted to sand down the grips on one to see if I can get a better feel for a bass rod. If you buy inexpensive rods because you are hard on them and break a bunch. You have found your rod. ... show more

  • Great Rod
Style: Old Model Size: 5'6" - Medium - 1pc
For the record, I'm not an avid fisherman. I'm a weekend warrior. But I have little place on a lake and do a fair amount of fishing. I own 6 Ugly Stiks - four 5 1/2' with pistol grip, one 6' with pistol grip, and this one. I wouldn't recommend it for a high end reel. There are MUCH better and more expensive rods for that purpose. So my 5 star rating is based on similarly priced rods. It wouldn't be fair to compare it against rods costing 10 times as much. But if your reels are more entry or intermediate level, I would certainly give Ugly Stiks a look. I currently use them with 3 Zebco Bullets, a Zebco Omega, a Zebco One Classic, and an old Penn 209. I use them primarily for dock fishing. They are extremely durable. One of them I've had for years. I've never had a bit of trouble with it. They are by far my favorite rod at their price point. I'm not a fan of cork grips. I love the grips on the Ugly Stiks. They just feel right in my hand. The light colored tip on the black rod really makes it stand out when you get a strike. I've caught some decent sized fish on them and have never thought the rod would break. • Best rod for the price
Style: Old Model Size: 6'6" - Medium Heavy - 2pc
It's got a fast and crisp action and the fiberglass blend still makes the rod feel like it's got life while adding durability. Great bang to buck ratio, and easily one of if not the best rod available at this price point.

Big fan of the ugly stik fishing poles. This one has a heavy backbone to it and can land some big fish with no problem.
