There are 2 boxes and everything is well packed. The longer box had some damage but luckily it has great protection inside that didn't cause any damage to the wood. The bed is 95% painted wood. Only the front drawers seem to be made of pressed cardboard, therefore there may be some inperfections as seen in my pictures which do not bother me. Assembly wasn't bad but took me 3 hours part because the room is tight and part being lazy since I did it at night. The instructions were clear and well written. I did not see the Allan Key at first but any Ikea Allen key works and I prefer the one pictured. Make sure you don't overtighten the bolts as noted on the instructions if you use power tools. I used them to screw in the long bolts and finished with a screwdriver. The hardest part is putting the drawers together by yourself. It requires screwing small screws where there's no predrilling and impossible by hand while holding 2 pieces of wood. I had an impact driver which helped. If doing it by hand you need someone to help you. Only 1 part was defective and took about 20 minutes to screw it down. This was one of the drawer guides (1 of 3). The hole was drilled lower not ending straight into the bolt hole causing the collar to turn when the bolt tip touched it and drove me up the walls for 20 minutes. When placing the drawers in, there's no mention but they are meant to be hard to push in, because the nubs prevent them from coming out when you open them. Later Were happy with the bed. We chose this one because of price and we liked the drawers and head/footboards. We used our old ikea mattress for the bottom bed and got a regular twin mattress for the top. ... show more

I'll start off by saying that we came here to purchase this frame after months of waiting for another frame to become available (shipping issues). I'll say that the frame is much more lightweight than I was expecting, but the pieces seem sturdy. Maybe not solid wood sturdy...but honestly who makes furniture like that anymore (which sucks). I build this on my own and did not need a second person to help for any of the steps.. These instructions were pretty easy to follow and well marked. My only note would be to those building this frame in a small room (like I did). When it comes to building to trundle, note that you're building it from back to front so position yourself so that you don't have to then flip it once it's build like I did. My other note would be for those with hardwood floors. The trundle bed doesn't have a stopper so it moves around and it doesn't stay flush with the face of of frame.. I'm thinking of putting some sort of stopper between the "end" if the trundle and the wall so that it's always flush with the frame and it looks like the pictures. Other than that, we'll see how it holds up with my crazy child. ... show more

We upgraded our 7 year old from a small loft bed to this & she absolutely loves it! We have carpet & the trundle rolls great on it. It was not hard to put together either. The only thing is that I wish we were sent some white stickers to cover the screws on the top of the headboard & footboard. I didn't notice them right away in the picture, but it would not have changed my decision on purchasing the bed. The bed is very sturdy & everything came packaged great! ... show more

Bought this bed for my daughter as her first big girl bed. When I looked online, I thought this was a good quality bed. I liked the 3 individual drawers under the trundle vs others I found with 1 large drawer. After assembly, I was disappointed in the quality. It is not real wood but a particle board with laminate. The laminate was damaged in places, posing an injury risk from sharp edges. The laminate was worn and warped in some spots. The screws are visable, not recessed so they can't be covered with a cap. The drawers were not pre-drilled with holes which made assembly a little more difficult. The bed is sturdy I will give it that, but the quality and and overall look are not worth the money. Pictures included to show the poor laminate job. Trundle bed is a little difficult to slide in and out, not something a child could do. Took my husband 2.5 hrs to build, and that may just be because he is a manufacturing engineer. ... show more

The bed is fantastic. The instructions are clear and concise. The parts for the bed is cut on a cnc machine and the fit is perfect, this is not a cheap "cam lock" style and should last for quite some time. Now for the bad. Apparently Amazon only allows the shipper to send one tracking number, so the delivery of the second box took a few extra days. After the purchase it was three weeks before the bed started it's long journey. All in all, I give the manufacturer 5 stars and the seller.....hard to give 2 stars. If you are patient and want a great bed that will last, this is your choice. If you are in a hurry, go somewhere else. ... show more

This bed had so many good reviews claiming it was a quality piece. I’m not sure why anyone would consider this a quality bed. I’d say it’s worse than a cheap IKEA ply board. I’d actually give ikea beds a much higher rating since their paint at least doesn’t come chipped, all the holes come pre-drilled, there’s no noticeable hardwear and instructions are much clearer. If ikea were accepting pick up orders in my area I would of rather bought one of those since they are basically the same price. Cons for this bed- -Lack luster paint that easily scratches -Paint is missing and already looks worn -Hardware that shows and does not match the bed color -instructions for the trundle are lacking and it’s hard to figure out how to assemble correctly - some of the holes are not pre-drilled so you’ll need an electric drill - drawers are very small -overall cheap quality Pros- -made of pine ... show more
