  • It works!
This bad boy is like a grappling hook. As long as there is something on the bottom for it to snag, it holds great!

  • Great Little Anchor
Bought this for my Kayak and inflatable SUP. So far so good, seems to be well built (think most of this style are from the same factory) with a nice rope and bag. The buoy is foam, so will see how it lasts, but better than a plastic ball. I used it on the Sacramento river in a decent current (maybe 2 mph) with gravel bottom, held no problem. With all your water toys, lay them out to dry so they stay nice, the rope will now dry in the bag if you leave it packed. ... show more

  • Decent
Holds a perception outlaw 11.5 fishing kayak with a mild breeze. Any decent wind and you will drift slightly but not very much. Only reason for the four stars is the mechanism that locks it open/shut is a little unreliable. Usually stayed locked open but when you wanted to store it shut one of the arms would sometimes pop out of the lock. Not a huge deal but a problem nonetheless ... show more

  • Nice and Sturdy Anchor
Great anchor that I use on my kayak. I needed one so I could take wildlife photos from my kayak without drifting. It does the job.

  • Looks good, but don't rig it the way the listing shows
I just received it today and have not had a chance to use it yet. However, it looks very well made, and I like that it can be locked in both the open and closed position, and especially that it has a hole at the base of the anchor, so it can be rigged as a "break away" anchor. I often fish in a river with many snags -- mostly trees but sometimes rocks. Instead of rigging this in the manner shown in the ad listing, I tied the knot to the small hole at the base of the anchor and use a zip tie to secure the rope at the hole at the top of the anchor (third photo). When I get a snag, the zip tie will break, and I can pull the anchor up from the opposite direction of the snag. If this is not clear search on Google or YouTube on how to rig a "grappling kayak break away anchor" to prevent snags. Also, if you use this method, one probably should not lock the grapples open. I also like that it has a buoy. In an emergency, or when hooked up on a large fish, you may have to detach the anchor from your kayak. Then the buoy allows you to come back and retrieve it. I am adding this update a few days later after having a chance to use it on my canoe. I was amazed at how well this light weight anchor held the canoe on a day with about a ten MPH wind. It really saved the day for us. I was fishing with my two grandsons and planned to troll using an electric trolling motor. After getting to the lake, we discovered the trolling motor was broken. It was not a long paddle to get to where we wanted to fish, but without the anchor, we would have had to paddle back to the good fishing spot every ten minutes. ... show more

  • Perfect little anchor!
I was looking for something just enough to be able to stay in one spot with my paddleboard. This is perfect! I don't fish, but sometimes I just want to float without drifting away. This is just enough to be able to do yoga on my board. The versatility would also make it great for floating in place in a tube as well. I want to try it on my parents pedal boat but haven't tried that yet. It's not too heavy to be burdensome, but just heavy enough. The anchor is solid metal and folds up nicely in itself so it fits in a tiny little storage bag. The bobber is a nice touch to always be able to see where the rope is in the water. Great quality thick rope too! ... show more

  • Perfect for kayaking!
This is a great anchor! It's sturdy and feels well made, but isn't too overly heavy. The twist lock works really well, it's able to be clipped on easily but isn't loose so it doesn't fall out. It's secure and easy to use. I really like that it comes with everything right out of the box, including the carry bag and carabiner. It's a good size, and it fits in the carry bag well for easy travel and storage. I appreciate that this uses a carabiner so it's easy to clip onto whichever kayak I want to use, I don't have to tie it on and then retie it every time I want to switch it out or move it, and it means it's easy to transport and store without the anchor attached. ... show more

  • Great for kayak or lightweight jon boat
I got this to keep on the kayak for when I want to tie up for a bit. I use it on a deep water creek out to the intercoastal and it loses a star for the short rope it comes with. To get proper bite you either need a sunk log or rock to bite into or no deeper than 7 or 8 feet to get the right angle on the anchor to grab in sandy bottom. But it does its job for what I need, at a little higher price than you can get for one at the local blue store. ... show more
