The tamper is welded to the handle and not bolted. It cost more but worth it. Bolts will eventually brake causing damage to the handle as well as the holes becoming distorted. Does a great job of compacting the soil.

Received from Amazon Prime very quickly. Have used it in some home improvements projects in back filling (Compacting) some excavations and setting the grade for a small area for brick pavers. It worked well and not overly heavy. I will have for years to come....

Nice heft, good length of handle, nice sized plate. Soil and asphalt don't stand a chance. You got something that needs flattening, this is your baby. Hmmm, I wonder how this would work with boneless chicken breasts... This is a good unit.

Cost more than same size tampers but you get what you pay for. This seems to be one of the only tampers built as one piece. That means no wobble or breaking at the connecting point.

The tamper is necessary to pack down the dirt in the earth bags to make them uniform and easy to work with. Nice right and length of handle.

    • It’s as strong as steel
This was a great tool my last one had a wooden handle and it worked great but the handle was not strong. This all steel unit is working well and should hold up to the riggers of the job.
