Features

  • Faster target acquisition with Di-Optic Aperture

Description

Advanced design, superior sighting and BattleReady(TM) toughness define Troy Industries' Di-Optic Aperture (DOA(R)) Folding Rear BattleSight(TM). These sights provide lightning fast target acquisition and are manufactured to exceed military specs. The optically engineered apertures center your eyes instantly and effortlessly providing a clearer target picture than with round apertures. The sights feature two settings, one for up to 300 meters and a second for up to 500 meters. This versatility makes the DOA ideal for military, law enforcement and home defense applications. These advanced sights have been extensively field-tested and, like all Troy Industries products, are BattleReady.

  • Best Sight You Can Get
Do you have trouble shooting with two eyes open without going cross-eyed trying to concentrate on the front sight post? This actually helps to correct that issue; somehow the shape just works. It is the perfect shape that works well with the A2 style front sight (lining up a circle and a "v" is harder than lining up a "v" with a "v" if that makes sense). You can also flip it to the smaller aperture for more precision or longer range shots. With that said, I've never had to do that, and I've had good accuracy out to 100 yards with the larger aperture. Best rear sight for target acquisition and especially CQB. It's tough, easy to flip up, and attaches securly. I've had one on my duty rifle (which gets banged around a lot) for over seven years without issue. (And no, I didn't get paid to write this- I actually use and depend on this product). Hope that helps- if you get it, practice with it, and I'm pretty sure you'll love it too. ... show more

  • Excellent Sights. (New Version)
As other reviewers have noted there are multiple versions of the rear DOA BUIS. The version I receive from Amazon is the current version. I emailed Troy Industries and confirmed with their CSR that the updated version of the DOA is marked "0-200 and 300-600" "The apertures are marked 0-200M and 300-600M on the new sights. Lot NE-16676 was manufactured in April 2013." Reference the Lot # on your sight (on the bottom) if the number is later than mine listed above you can gauge when it was manufactured. Product Review: These sights are unmatched in quality and performance. They are extremely sturdy and hold zero perfectly. They are most expensive than most sights but I made this purchase expecting to keep them for generations. DOA Review: Initially I was skeptical of the DOA sights (Di-optic Aperture) and even considered returning them for the standard ring sight but I am very glad that I did not. The close range 0-200M range aperture is undoubtedly better. The square shape allows my eye to very naturally center the FSP perfectly. The 4 points in the rear sight are easy to connect and determine perfect center. As someone who had issues centering the FSP in a standard circle sight this was an amazing upgrade allowing for MUCH faster target acquisition. The medium/long range sight 300-600M was even more confusing initially. Think of it as a pistol sight, you need to line the FSP up perfectly with the notch in the rear sight. I was skeptical at first but after hitting the range it felt extremely natural. I really like having an unobstructed view of the target with the open style aperture. Quality product all around. ... show more

  • My new favorite rear sight
The quality of the products that Troy puts out is just phenomenal. This sight (along with the front) is rock solid. I opted not to go with the Tritium version just because I have a weapon light on my rifle anyway - didn't see the point of spending that much extra just for Tritium inserts. However if you do not have a weapon light (and actually shoot at night) that would be a viable option. I would recommend these sights over the Magpul MBUS sights and day. The saying, "You get what you pay for" really holds true with these. Sure, if you just plink and target shoot those would be great, but if you do anything beyond that you need something you can count on no matter what. I do not have a problem torture testing my weapons, so I went ahead and deployed my folding sights, and let my rifle take a tumble down a 200ft ravine. Sights are not damaged at all and are holding zero. My only complaint is I had to adjust the aperture almost all the way to the right to zero it in which seemed a little odd, but not a big deal. BY THE WAY: these sights and the front sights are not designed to fit over top of your rail to mount. They have to be slid onto the muzzle end of your rail, or on the rear end of your upper receiver. they will not flex to fit over the rail - so keep that in mind. I saw a few reviews saying they wouldn't fit. THEY DO FIT, they need to be slid onto the rail. ... show more

  • Solid lockup, solid attachment, great quality.
Great piece, solid and reliable. I put it on a flat top 16" middy, and it is everything that is expected from Troy Ind. I figure when you're looking at sights for your gun, why would you settle? Don't cheap out and go for some of the lower cost sights, I have the absolute confidence in this piece. I trust that it would come up in the same position time after time even if it has been bumped or dropped, it is a complete tier above most of the flip ups out there. I know there are people that don't trust anything but fixed sights, but once you see how solid this thing is I think you will want to give it a try on an optics ready receiver. Cons are only on my specific order. The piece was not the same as the one pictured. After some investigation I got word from Troy that they were in the process of launching the new model and some sites were not yet updated. So while the picture was the old gen, I received the new one. So I guess I can't really complain but it would still be nice to get amazon updated. Also there was a small chip on the base of mine, purely cosmetic so I elected to keep it and the seller gave me a discount. Still it would have been noticeable upon inspection and for the price I would expect that it would have been caught. ... show more

  • Great idea for a rear sight aperture, great design, except that you can't see it when your age exceeds 20!
I love the idea of the white tick marks for helping center the front sight in the diamond reticle, but unless you're below 20 years old you won't be able to see the shape of the diamond, or the white lines! My son can use the sight but I cannot. I don't have poor eyesight, I have 20/15 in my right eye that cannot see this sight, but at over 40 years old I can assure you the aiming with this rear sight will be guess-work, at best. If I could see the edges of the aperture or the lines, I would rate it a 5 star, but since the diamond frame is so narrow/thin and cannot be used reliably for middle aged guys I rated it down to a 4. The long range aperture is all but useless for me, it is a smaller thickness profile and the edges disappear. I love the idea of this sight and believe it would help tremendously in rapid targe acquisition and alignment even for long range, but I can't see it no matter where I install it on my receiver! ... show more
