  • Great little coop
***Edit 2024: we are on our second year using these coops and have used them also for grow out pens for broilers (6-8 per coop) and built a separate roof to go over it as other reviews have mentioned, it is not rain proof. We also took the wheels off since we only move it every few months from bed to bed. I don't think it would hold up to being used as a tractor that got moved daily, nor is it heavy enough to keep predators from digging under. Bird netting was not needed, the cats don't care about the coop. Original review 2022: I bought this for my young chickens as a go between the brooder and the big coop. The kit went together quickly and is well made. It's exactly the size to fit on a 4'x8' raised bed, which makes watching and caring for the chickens so much easier then having it on the ground. I put 6 birds in there at 5-6 weeks old, with a small radiant heater inside. It's been close to a month and they love being in the middle of the garden (fresh greens daily). I like that when I'm done using this coop I can easily remove it and store it out of the sun. It will be great to have if we ever need to separate a chicken or rooster from the flock for whatever reason. Things to note: the coop is relatively light weight and does not have a floor. My chickens were able to scratch right down under the edges so I lined the outside with bricks. A weight might help. I also added bird netting to keep the cats off it since the A-frame design is very inviting to climb on. I added a pull string for the coop door so I can open and close it without opening the big door and hung a small feeder and waterer from the center. The nesting boxes that it came with look small (I'm not using them, they come out which is nice) , I'm guessing this would only hold a couple of smaller adult birds or maybe 4-5 bantams. ... show more

  • Do not buy spend your money on something else
Easy to assemble. Was damaged a little in shipping. NOT sturdy at all had to be reinforced by the door cause it immediately fell apart under its own weight when moving it. Also it has to be picked up at a decent angle for the wheels to be really functional. Other then that it works for me at this point. Buy cheap get cheap so can't be terrible upset with it. Edit: after moving it around the yard for a month the thing is falling apart. The sections are just too weak it stops around. The whole thing needs a better frame to stay together. Just too chintzy but still going to roll with it and try to make it work. Another update kids hit it with a rubber dog bone and broke the damn thing don't buy it if you need something durable it's a POS ... show more

  • It's nice, wish it cost less.
I put this together in a few hours by myself. It has been good for our younger hens that cannot go in with the big hens. But I think it is a bit over priced for what it is. The wood is a bit flimsy and dry. Moving it on the wheels will surely cause all your hens to get out. We just "walk it" back and forth to move it to a fresh spot. The sliding vent door on the top of the house is already so dried out we cannot open or shut it anymore. ... show more

  • MEH…
I got this as a quail house and overall the size and design is close to perfect. The item arrived damaged. Communicating with the manufacturer was close to impossible. Phone system down. Instruction manual difficult to pull part numbers from. I repaired the damage myself rather than wait for parts to arrive. Here’s where it all falls apart. The wood is flimsy and extremely prone to cracking so assembly using a low speed on your drill or using a hand tool is essential. It is extremely difficult to assemble alone. It takes 2 people. Just one person it took almost 4 hours. I glued all the peg and hole fittings for added strength. Recommended. The cross brace did not come with predrilled holes and knowing the wood will crack I didn’t know what to do. Ended up rigging it with zip ties. The doors are not secure. A small dog was able to open the house and 5 chicks escaped. I was only able to recover three. Had to replace the latches with spring loaded ones. When moving the house using the rear wheels you can actually hear things cracking and breaking so I haven’t moved it more than 4 feet in any direction over perfectly level ground. I will probably have to invest another 60-80 dollars in metal components to reinforce it to the point where it won’t fall apart whenever I shift it. Sorry for the pun but this is CHEEP-ly built and resulted in the loss of valuable livestock 🤬 ... show more

  • Cute coop very poorly designed!
This is an adorable little coop for small chickens, but it certainly was not tested against rain. There is a tiny strip of plastic that manages to block the seam at the top of the nesting box’s door, but there is no rubberized plastic protecting the seam at the bottom of the nesting box door, and water pours right into their bed. Also because the screen on the main coop door goes all the way up, there in nowhere inside to place their food that will keep it dry, unless it is inside their coop interior away from the nesting box door. The rain has wasted a bunch of their food and bedding. I will be shopping for more rubber shielding to reinforce this coop’s mediocre construction. ... show more

  • Leaks in the rain
Put it together and right away it leaked heavily when it rained. So cheaply made. Wood had a strong, strong smell when it arrived. Waaaaaay too small for even 2 chickens, as soon as I let them out of that thing they stretched their wings and ran around. Really only appropriate as a temporary chicken hospital on sunny days, but way too expensive for that purpose ... show more
