Let me tell you, it’s a game-changer! the zoom range is super versatile so i can easily switch between magnifications depending on the situation. the night vision is seriously impressive; i can see pretty much everything clear as day. the HD clarity is top-notch too. everything looks sharp and detailed, even when i zoom in all the way. the scope feels really sturdy. the eyepiece is a bit tight but you'll get used to it quick. it felt a bit uncomfortable because it's also heavy at first, but after a few times using it, i got used to it pretty quick if you’re into night hunting or shooting, i highly recommend checking it out. it’s quickly become one of my favorite pieces of gear that offers great performance and clarity. ... show more

    • Very good IR scope for a low price
I was able to dial this in perfectly and it meets my needs for protecting chickens from foxes. One thing I want to call out that isn't anywhere in the product description is that this uses a standard rechargeable 18650 battery. Another reviewer mentioned this and it is why I bought this model instead of some of the other similar ones available on Amazon. You can easily take a few extra 18650 batteries out in the woods with you and just swap them out if the first one dies. You do lose your date and time settings by swapping the battery, but the crosshair offset is saved so the scope is still dead on after a battery switch. You can just attach this to an existing scope, and that's what I did at first, but I didn't like it that way. I think you're better off just using it stand alone. As an attachment on an existing scope it has two very big limitations - first is that if the thing you are aiming at is in focus then the crosshairs of the primary scope are NOT in focus, so you still end up having to use the digital crosshairs. Second is that this is not a small scope, and when you attach it to another standard sized scope the eyepiece ends up being nearly in line with the butt of the gun, it's a real stretch to actually get your eye lined up on something that far back. If your gun doesn't have picatinny rails already (mine didn't) it's no big deal, you can get a dovetail to picatinny adapter here on Amazon for like $9 and then you can easily mount this scope to a standard .22 for dealing with night nuisances. Remember this is a budget scope, so keep your expectations in line with that. Spending less than $300 for an IR scope you should not expect the same quality of optics that you would get from a similarly priced non-IR scope. The image isn't crystal clear, and yes digital crosshairs are inferior to real ones because they won't be perfectly centered once you dial them in. But those are small things. The image is clear enough for me to get a nice grouping, and it is certainly up to the task I intend to put it to. ... show more

    • Entry+ Level digital optic + USAGE UPDATE!
Just got it in a night or two ago, still playing with it, so far I have noted the dioper is a little sketchy, almost like it isn't really there, but it turns, the main focus is great, allows you to really dial in close, even with the 2x magnifier attached, no scope attached or attempted as of yet, need a mono rail forend or to set something else up to carry and distribute it's weight, came with 4 sizes to adapt to scope eyepieces, 90 degeee angle USB charging cable, suspect may be a data transfer cable as well, haven't gotten that far either, put the included 32GB ScanDisk in from Japan (on the product backing = cool, took it out carefully to keep it, kinda neato), and with the 2x or just running the unit solo lense (2x magnifyer removed) +1.6 mag. camera SLR and the software and the device hardware, etc. it all work pretty good together, overall it is a good unit and alternative to way more expensive options on the market, this is somewhat of a stomper red-dot NV digital scope, I did a little fast mounting with the included Picatinney 1913 rail, which it came attached to already, and merely bolted it to one my uppers and turned it on and started pressing buttons per the included instruction card, which is pretty straight forward, it came in a REALLY nice box, tight foam formed with a slip cover, way cool packaging, some nice stuff, truly, and good to keep the scope in when not mounted/in use - total THANKS! It comes with one 2200mAh 18650 battery, can charge from wall AC with a recharger or a battery pack, or from USB 5V, say like a laptop, etc. + the controls are straight forward, rotate (while mounted) the focus dial to the right for longer range clarity, to the left to bring the focus back in closer, the dial is smooth with just enough resistance also, you can take photos with this, record with this, it has day and night modes, the 850IR extends VERY FAR, I could easly see on it's 3 brightness settings out to 100 yards - EASY, clearly at that!, the IR is focusable, and works well, can focus into a spotlight at various levels... so, some other things I have noted, the push botton pad on unit is in a good spot to run it with your left hand, memorize the button layout and you are golden, you can keep your eyes on the target/s, also noted I can do a walk through and see through this scope at the same time, it is slim enough to keep both eyes open and have at a glance to see through it or for target aquisition, it is by no means "pro", but it is good++, for multiple applications, so remember that, but then again also remember I just got this thing in and I am learning it, but so far it is pretty cool, it has 4 different reticles, the typical EoTech reticle-ish, a compressed "X" with center dot, a box shaped reticle, this one is pretty neat, not sure the MOA measurements on this one yet though other than the center red dot is again 2 MOA, will hit manufacturers website to jot it all down/copy, etc., and it has a cross with center bi-circled dot, the dots on all reticles are red and represent 2 MOA, overall it is pretty neat and can be mounted 1913 railed or by other means with adapters that you can imagine and conjure up, say like a tripod for whatever watching... girls in bikini's skinny dipping on the beach - I dunno, just what came to mind, anyhow... the price is not bad at all for what you are getting, I mean, $240.00 US and ya in the game, it may be digital, it may use different parts, and work differently, but it does work, and pretty well at that with what it is and how it is laid out, with a little practice, ya be on targets in no time. I will try both day and night modes, record results, snap some photos, play with the zoom and mount them here soon, day or two, or three... million, busy life, lots to always get done... welp, it passes my tests and wants, the rear diopter issue, it's there, another buyer also stated, but I am able to dial it in clear, and yes, at almost 51 year old eyes I also have to move my head back about 6 inches to read the small little screen objects but by doing so the lense cut allows the little symbols and writing to BECOME MUCH BIGGER, etc. Oh well, better than not seeing them at all cuz then this NV would be 100% useless to me to begin with, but as of now, it is not and is a welcome addition to my kits. Actually, gonna buy another and compare the 2, and eventually pass one of them on. : ) 03-18-2024 Sun. St. Patty's Day: ... I have been playing with this off and on as life allows since I received it. Buy it. Ya cannot beat it, especially with the options it includes, it is a smooth operator after you initially get used to it. I am walking through drills tapping plates anywhere from =10 yards to 100 EASY, using multiple calibers - this thing is easy to use once you get the button placements and functions somewhat memorized and used to, and you can memory feel them in the dark while also viewing the screen. The dioper = IS FOR THE SCREEN, NOT THE OBJECTIVE LENSES, VIEWING, ETC. I have run the 2x magnifier and also removed it easily - 2 screws (+ inverted the cage which holds it to make bolt access easier), and just used the 1.6 digital SLR capabilities, with and without the IR, at various of its 3 levels - which level 2, as per say usual with such devices, is the best, you can see very negliglble IR amplification between 2 and 3, though it is there and is noticeable, but also note it will drain the battery faster, guess it depends on what you are doing with it at the time as with most things. I've been running the eyepiece during night drills without NODs, rarely do I run a helmet, gets in my ways, run comm's though, have to, but that's a diff. arena... bump lid = sure, depends... anyhow... this thing is pretty good, the black/white digital screen is easy enough to read and see through and target aquisition is actually pretty quick and good, the 4 different reticles are interesting, calssic Eo-ish (actual) and then a boxed shape, then a smashed X on the l/R sides and ending in a regular X sight, all with 2 MOA red dots, surrounded in red, when I get the actual time to run completely through this thing with use, I will post some photos and video's up about this so y'all can check it out and see what purchasers of this unit see = it's pretty good, as stated before, I've used night vision for 3+ decades, lots and lots and LOTS of different models, always the same tech or similar, hey - here's a tip" when hearing Gen 1 Gen 2 Gen 3, just think Gen 1 you can see 100 yards, Gen 2 you can see 200 yards, Gen 3 you can see 300 yards, and Gen 3+ ya never gonna play with, those items are in constant development, hahahaaa... I recall all the rage and hooplah with tech over the decades, quite some (ahem) "interesting" experiences... to state the absolute very least, anyhow... dip your toes in and get it, it's worth the 240 buckaroo's... now as far as settings go, brightness, etc., those types of settings, there is eco mode and then 1 2 and 3, seems to me and how I see (everybody sees differently) I run either the eco or the 1 level of brightness... there is auto-record, time lengths, calendars, not sure if it can save settings past pulling battery in and out, read another reviewer stating they lost time, date, etc. = typical, HOWEVER - apparently their reticle settings and zero's stayed correct = there's some work and frustration sighting it in for certain, still haven't done such past a bore sight at not even 20 feet indoors and the short drills outdoors at night when I can every chance I can get, which has been 3 times thus far... and again, it's pretty-pretty good for what it is and does, and at the price, it is a good deal. Handheld, sure, mounted to ? caliber, you bet, and the 2 screw mount is solid, though just a wee tad bit short for my personal tastes, but I mounted the scope/sight onto a 6.5 Grendel superlight build, scope weighs 17 ounces, and it is light, most the weight is vcentered around the body construction to give strength to the unit, which it does, but ya know if ya drop it just right it is gonna break, most things will, but it is not cheap by any means that I can detect externally, internally, we all shall see now won't we? The main focus is a tad bit fuzzy, just a tiny bit during night time viewing at short close-in distances though you can get it pretty dang close to your actual eye seeing tuning it, just spin it up and right when object comes into focus at whatever distance just slow down and fine tune, the focus turns pretty well, obviously faster when warmed up and slower, little bit stiffer to turn when cold out, which is noticeable... have not had any sort of fogging problems, though have not run this in snow/rain/surf/humidity yet - but will eventually... this neat little niche nooked hidden spinel gem of a NV scope WORKS. Combat, I dunno, at distance, sure, better thannothing, and the world moved to digial and thermal a few decades ago, it is just now becoming available to people globally, remember that and use responsibly... so in a sitrep requiring, of course ya gonna run your 100+ gear for speed and setup, and probably go with your PVS or similar setup, or a mini-digital, sure, lots of capabilities around such things and projects, needs, etc., but that cost MONEY - AND A LOT OF IT, I got pieves over 10k easy that are regular gear, for a reason or three million, cuz ya gotta know, it has to be proven... to do it, take the hits and abuse and keep on keeping on even if and when SHTF HARDCORE, and ya ballin' to whatever wherever... though this will come with me as secondary all around beccause of capabilities and weight and size, etc. = backup to mains, so this is MY third stringer out the gates, not on the bench = in the bag... not too bad coming' outta nowhere and I am a very tough customer, have to be, the world is a vampyre... and she loves blood... +/- half the time... in a pinch you could invert it and hemlet mount it due to the picatinney rail, but that is a special setup, not too special, just old skool sort of, it's got a pic rail for firearms, lol, not really a helmet, but it would work though I have not attempted such, maybe will someday = go dig through some old gear over the years, got something I know for sure... all in all with my expereinces, I give this StarStrike a score out of 100 a 96-97 in general overall, because nothing is perfect, the Crystal AI software looks to possibly be updateable, somehow from my research thus far, but I have no contact, etc. to really tracce at the oment, got an idea though know the game and scenery, will call some and ask some ?'s, will provide IF feasable and not a problem for public consumers/consumption. The bottons are good as well, though may rub through with excessive use over time I am certain, nice soft but tactile rubbery short hardcut rubber, quality actually, and the battery charger - C port, wide mouth, and Micro SD Card cover (comes with 32GB straight outta somewhere Asia like - pretty cool card backing as stated before) is a tad issue to keep lol, your eyes on... One thing I am doing is if i desire to run the scope without the 2 mag. and expose the main glass of the unit to outside exposure = dust, dirt, depris, water, etc., is that I am cutting a CRL Bellet resistant Acrylic Level 2 plate for it to protect it, just because I CAN, so neener0neener, have it laying around, but may also be something y'all may want to consider because really you can run this cope with the 2x mag. on and pretty much remove it in an instant IF you torque it just to the right loose holding specs, but the 2x mag. will take damage over time but meh, things are meant to be used. So just get it already, jeze... you kow you want it. : ) So ya know what I am using it for and playing with it for, your expereinces and uses may require and fullfill different aspects of life, sitrep, etc. - but in the end, better to have it then need it and it is easy, light and thus far darn cool - and when shooting I was going between unit and left side red dot offset trying to semi get it all in the ball park, still working on that... others have stated it is hard to align the sight of firearm and scope, which is possible because the reticle is not centered so it can look weird when sighted in at whatever yardages, I dunno, havent taken any distance shots with it yet and gotta dig out the bags of sled to really dig into this thing and see what it can totally do. Hope it helps, for what it's worth, long ramble review = expereinces, that is all, take care and stay up and stay positive! : ) 03-21-2024 Th. = little battery rubber door cover got yanked off as I unplugged unit from USB charger and battery block, merely taped over with some Gorilla Tape and viola! Again for what this is, it IS a really good unit, now, if somebody can design some software for it, I got an idear... checked into the sensor capabilities and such... hmmm... a lil change here and one there and holy super duper viola! Looks like I'll be learning some electronics here very shortly. Temperature WAS in the high 50's-70's even for a day, did not note any fogging after letting unit sit in ambient temp's. to warm up + though do suspect in high humid wet environments unit MAY fog, haven't tried that either, will head down to water soon enough when Spring breaks for 2024and day/night/humidity temp's fluctuate for discrepancies in the unit. I am hard on things, then buy two - if it checks out... and it's checking out just fine. : ) ... show more

I have to admit that I did like the design of this scope but all in all the clarity is not there I tried everything and could not get this product to focus and the reticle was not bright enough to see against any object I tried to look at. The price was great but the product in my opinion is junk and I sent it back and purchased the wraith hd that is a proven night /day vision device as far as the Triton it is a great idea but it needs to be remastered. ... show more

I bought this piece recently as my friends introduced me to this scope and so far, it has exceeded my expectations. The design looks sleek and the many reticle options is a plus. I have no issues with buttons and the night vision works as advertised. The only issue for me is that when I attach it with another rife scope, as opposed to stand-alone, it is not functional as I have to lean all the way back to use the eyepiece stretching my neck a bit much. Overall, this scope is a good one especially from amazon and is truly underrated in my opinion. ... show more
