  • Blurry!!!! Says made in Japan?????
Style: 3-12x40
I read another review that stated what I see. Mine is worse that they described when it comes to being blurry at higher magnification. This thing is horrible above 6-7 power. A $49 vortex is a rock star compared to this. I can actually see the red and blue layers of light separate from the image.

  • Budget LPVO thats actually worth it
Style: 1-4x24
To start, ive had decent experience and exposure to optics from your amazon laser/ red dot combo 50$ scopes to your Vortex Razor Gen IIs and Trijicon Tenmiles. If you're in any position such as myself where you cant throw down the latest and greatest for your optic of choice, but you refuse to cripple yourself with potentially lifesaving gear by using cheap, unreliable crap, than look no further in my opinion. Packaging is 10/10, Trijicon, while lacking in innovative products these days, still retains the quality of their optics that made their name worthwhile and well known. They cut no corners for even their lower priced items and are packaged the exact same as something like Credo or an ACOG. The glass clarity of the Ascent 1x24 is immaculate. It appears to approach a true 1x magnification, not similar to something such as a Vortex Crossfire or anything else within this range, and can at times mimic a red dot for 0-25 yard shots. The 2nd Focal Plane reticle is crisp and clear, and the BDC lines up well with its intended uses. As well the windage and elevation turrets track excellently and are crisp and precise. The drawback to the Ascent as an LPVO is its comparable to a baseline Honda Civic. It doesnt have alot of nice features, such as external windage/ elevation turrets, a FFP or illuminated reticle, nor is it the most powerful optic picking up only up to 4x magnification, which is also held back in the Field of view when compared to a prism optic of the same magnification such as the ACOG. But what it lacks in features it makes up for in simplicity and quality. By sacrificing all of the features, Trijicon was able to invest more into the baseline quality of the optic, such as the finish and glass clarity, the tight controls, and no nonsense adjustment knobs. This makes the Ascent extremely simple and reliable. To wrap up, if you're building on a budget, but you also hate poor quality parts, this is a solid addition. (The finish also doesn't reflect IR to whom it may concern) ... show more

Focus problems especially fro 9x-12x. At 12x didn't take a shot because it was so blurry. I never did get the cross hairs and the target to both be in focus at the same time, at ant power setting.
