Ahh! That is what the cap icon is trying to show. "Pull Up To Create Spout" This Triax all synthetic 10-30 oil will get it's workout over the next year in my old Mercury. Not a trim cabin cruiser but the Villager mini-van rebadged from Nissan. It has clocked 316K miles so far and shows no signs of giving in to age nor distance travelled. I worked some with lubricants during my engineering years so had no concerns about using this "Marine Ultra" oil for this vehicle. Synthetic lubricants have been around since the Germans created them during WWII and today are far superior to most lubricants being used in 1995. With further technology improvements and innovations every year there isn't any reason for a lubricant to fail these days. Delivery mechanisms, yes. Contaminants, yes. But the oil itself. Nope. If you could effectively filter the chemical and other contaminants from your engine oil you could keep the same oil in the engine for it's very very long life. This oil Carries the API-SM listing, which supersedes the SN listing advised for my vehicle when it was manufactured. The SM being a later and higher rating than SN, it replaces it fine. No worries there. The only listing reference which surprised me was the JASO MA listing which is the Japanese standard set which seems to primarily relate to additives or friction modifiers. Those are eliminated or limited in the MA rated oil which applies to friction clutches, etc in engine and gearbox combinations sharing a common oil supply. I would usually consider the friction modifiers a good additive but in the detailed description the "MA oils are suitable for all applications." I am not going to worry about the restriction of certain ones there in my engine. The 5 qt. container leaked a bit ( as other reviewers have noted ) so it would seem beneficial for TRIAX to modify something in the cap or container, although a similar looking container which I have from Mobil does't have the extending spout but it does have a foil seal on the jug cap. And never any leakage there. I was surprised that there wasn't something there already, particularly in our age of Tamper-proof or Tamper-evident products. Of course, Amazon could also add a bag to each jug when they pack it but I don't expect that they figured that would be needed, but caution there should always prevail. They did add a bag on a gallon of detergent that I received a few months ago and I am glad they did because that container had a flaw in one side which split, the bag was full of detergent but not everything else in the box, nor many other shipped boxes and items which could have been damaged or destroyed by a soapy condition. ... show more

Although this is sold as a marine oil it worked like a charm in my lawn tractor. It has all the vitamins and minerals modern engines require. IT is offered at a good price point for the quantity and quality of the product ones receives.

This oil contains a high level of zinc for motors without catalytic converters. This marine oil contains additives that protect the engine but will damage cats hence it is ideal for marine motors and classic vehicles that can benefit from zinc.
