    • Solid 2m and 70cm dual band base antenna
Very pleased with this base antenna. Did not want a behemoth antenna for my roof, rather a more subtle antenna that works well. It looks great with a modest 3 foot mast and am getting outstanding SWR in both 70cm and 2m bands. Also getting very respectable results with GMRS frequencies (462-467) 1.5 to 1.7 SWR. Just a note that MURS frequencies (151 -154) will see higher SWR's (3.5 - 6.5 on my radio). Not a negative as this antenna is not tuned for MURS. Just wanted to point that out for the curious. Date: 8/2/2024 Many of the reviews with low marks say that the threads for the radials were poor. I did not find this to be the case. I'm a hobbyist machinist and would be satisfied with the quality of the threads. The SO-239 female socket is a very snug fit which I consider a good thing. A less snug fit would not have good electrical contact. The antenna was purchased on the recommendation of another HAM operator. Just received today, much sooner than expected and I have not installed it yet so no information on performance. I'm not knocking anything off because I haven't tried it yet.     • Very easy to assemble.
Seems very sturdy and well made. It works great. Update: I went to relocate the antenna after three months in service, and one of the nuts galled to the threads. The threaded rod twisted off with very little effort (pathetic, skinny metric crap). I drilled the holes a little larger to accept a 2" muffler clamp and now the clamp is as strong as it always should have been. The antenna continues to work great. This antenna is already tuned in the Box it actually works in the hand bands as well as the gmrs portion of 70 cm and I'm talking flat SWR absolutely perfect

    • Everyone on the local net says I sound great!
I'm trying to keep my HAM hobby affordable, and this antenna paired with an Anytone AT778UV made for a great upgrade from my first radio, a Baofeng UV5R. People said they couldn't hear me very well on the repeater with the HT, but with this antenna and my 25 watt radio they read me loud and clear.
