This switch has tons of features, so many that navigating the setup menus can be confusing. But it functions perfectly well as a dumb switch without any configuration at all. The main reason I bought this switch is that it has a built-in DHCP server. Unfortunately I've been having a problem with that. I have many devices on my local network, and I assign reserved IP's to all of them based on the MAC address. But for some reason, the DHCP server does not recognize and assign the reserved IP to two of my devices, instead assigning an IP from the free pool. Except for those two devices, all other devices receive the correct IP. I am still working on this issue. I have triple-checked the MAC addresses I am providing and they are correct. ... show more

I've purchased many TP-Link products over the years from routers to switches to access points. They are well made and a good bargain. My only complaint over the years has been that the hardware versions change very frequently and the firmware versions don't apply to much of the older hardware. This is especially an issue if you are trying to manage the devices by the TP-Link Omada app. If TP-Link would fix this issue, then they would climb even further up the value chain. ... show more

    • Great price/performance ratio for a managed PoE+ switch
Capacity: 24 Port PoE+, 4 SFP Slots, 384W
The switch serves nicely as a substitute for the pricier enterprise manged switches in its class. The SDN looks promising, but the site is not at a scale where it would apply. Need some help with documentation from XANDREX and he/she was quite helpful in that regard.

    • Very loud fan noise

The switch is great, performance wise. But the fan noise is a deal breaker. It won't turn off even when the switch is idle. Make sure you plan on putting this switch away, far away, in a remote closet. The fan is so loud it makes it unbearable if used in an office environment.

My husband was a network engineer with advanced certifications. We were waiting for our Starlink gear to come in and he was in the process of switching our home networks to TP-Link products using the Omada controller to include several outdoor APs (for our barns, game cams, etc.) because we would finally have the internet speeds to support a full network. Sadly, he passed away before the Starlink kit showed up and wasn’t finished building out the network. When I got the satellite internet up and running, I tried to use the switches from the previous network build but wasn’t getting anywhere. After doing some online research, ordered this, plugged it in to the network and now all the APs are working. I have no idea how to do anything else in home networking, LOL, but am happy with the speed and reliability provided. We have two ceiling mount APs and three or four of the outdoor APs with multiple Apple TVs, Wi-Fi cameras, various personal devices, weather station, etc. and all receive good signal and fast speeds using this setup. ... show more

This switch works well, though my UAP-AC-LITE would not power on with the PoE. Works with Omada controller. The fan does have a very noticeable whine.

I have a large number of network jacks and 6 POE security cameras hooked up to this switch and it has performed flawlessly. I was primarily looking for a standard gigabit switch that also had a good amount of POE capacity to add more cameras in the future and this fit the bill at a very reasonable price point versus some of the name brand competitors. I agree with other reviews that it was a bit load when it first booted up, but it then adjusted the fan speed down twice to a pretty reasonable level. You would likely be able to hear it if it were in a closet in your room, but I would expect that would always be the case for a relatively large capacity POE switch. ... show more

I'd give this 5/5 stars if it wasn't for a defective power brick that made me question my ability to plug things in correctly. Once the replacement arrived..... TP-Link's configuration is the best of both worlds. It is super simple to get started and working, but then there is a whole world of options available to power users who want to dive deep when they know what they want.
