Picked up my first Lews tournament pro SP over 12 years ago. This is a great reel series by Lews they are work horses. The breaking systems are awesome and the reel cast great. The only issue I have had with this reel is the centrifugal break lock out pins on the inside of the reel failed after 12 hard years of use. I took them out of the reel and the reel and it keeps fishing like a champ. The spool tension knob clicks with adjustment which is a great feature on this reel. I have other lews reels not as old and more pricey, I prefer fishing with this reel over them hands down. I recently purchased 2 more to add to my fishing arsenal. ... show more

I've only thrown this baitcaster for a day. I didn't really want to spend the money on expensive reels. I thought I'd just have a lot of cheap reels. I picked up another budget reel with great reviews at the same times as this one just to see if it was worth the price tag when quickly comparing them as well as compared to my other $60-80 reels. I am seriously blown away. This is by far my favorite reel and I'll be sending the budget reel back and biting the bullet and getting another of these Lew's Tournament MPs and probably a Pro when I can afford it. I never thought I'd be a guy who really cared how a reel felt in my hand, just how it performed, but this reel feels great. I love the matte finish as well as how smooth and quiet it is. It fits well in my medium sized hands. I feel spoiled now. It feels super durable and it is so easy to dial in and use quickly. I can launch this sucker, no problems. Don't hesitate if you can afford it. I can't speak to other Lew's products but I'm definitely a fan of this reel in comparison to the 5 or 6 I've tried in the 50-$200 range. I had purchased a bait-caster reef from a competitor, the breaking system would only work if the tension and magnetic break were set a maximum. Called manufacturer's service depart and went through all the possibilities and was then told to return the reel Reel exchanged with Amazon and and another reel, same make and model, was sent. Same problem, breaking system only worked at maximum setting. Returned this to Amazon and ordered this LEW'S reel. Love this reel. I have a Abu Garcia REVO4 SX-SHSD (8.0:1) but after 1 year of light use, needs to be sent in for repair. LEW'S will be getting my future business. ... show more

Reel is extremely smooth; fast 8.3:1 retrieve which is great for burning spinnerbaits. Large crank handle is a plus with what Lew's calls their "combat grip." I own a few Lew's and they have not disappointed!
