Don’t listen to these bad reviews, most of them are inexperienced fisherman, it does not get rid of backlash completely, but if you know how to cast with a casting reel then you will not have any problems

I had always been weary of bait casting reels - always used mine primarily for trolling or bottom fishing, minimally used for casting due to the fear of the occasional back-lash. This reel has no backlash, the current technology is a game changer for bait casters. Reel is also more sleek (lower profile) and lightweight, making it easy to fish. ... show more

    • Great Reel! (but overpriced)
This is a very nice reel. I have used baitcasters for over 50 years and have owned over 50 reels in that time (my first ones weren't free spool). This is the best reel I have ever owned (but I have never paid $250 for a reel before). This reel casts farther than any reel (including spinning reels) I have ever owned! It is not "backlash proof" and it does have to be adjusted properly and "thumbed" when the lure hits the water. The $195 version seems to perform the same as this reel so I could have saved $50. ... show more

Believe the hype! I used my 150 DC the first time today in a strong wind. This reel is smooth long and backlashes are almost non existent in the worst circumstances. Stop looking... buy it! Update...I now own five of these reels and I love them. Don't be an idiot and try casting with no thumbing at all. If you lightly thumb the reel it will cast better than any reel you will ever buy. DO NOT adjust the reel as it comes factory adjusted for the spool. You DO NOT need to adjust it for each bait. Just use the guide for the four settings for the types of line you use and this will be the best reel you ever owned. ... show more
