I've only thrown this baitcaster for a day. I didn't really want to spend the money on expensive reels. I thought I'd just have a lot of cheap reels. I picked up another budget reel with great reviews at the same times as this one just to see if it was worth the price tag when quickly comparing them as well as compared to my other $60-80 reels. I am seriously blown away. This is by far my favorite reel and I'll be sending the budget reel back and biting the bullet and getting another of these Lew's Tournament MPs and probably a Pro when I can afford it. I never thought I'd be a guy who really cared how a reel felt in my hand, just how it performed, but this reel feels great. I love the matte finish as well as how smooth and quiet it is. It fits well in my medium sized hands. I feel spoiled now. It feels super durable and it is so easy to dial in and use quickly. I can launch this sucker, no problems. Don't hesitate if you can afford it. I can't speak to other Lew's products but I'm definitely a fan of this reel in comparison to the 5 or 6 I've tried in the 50-$200 range. I got this to upgrade from a cheap castking bait caster and the action is a lot smoother and it has a nice durable build quality worth the money when on sale imo. I have compared it with my friends shimano and I dont think you can go wrong with either brand. Might not help you catch more fish but you'll feel a lot better doing it. ... show more

My oh my what a wonderful reel. I have used most of Lews casting reels and this one is the best price to performance ratio I have found. Backlashes are basically non-existent even with the brakes set to zero and the spool tension loosened up quite a bit. Casting distance is incredible with 20lb suffix 832 braid. I combined it with a Lews carbon fire medium fast rod and I could not be happier with how this combo has felt and held up over the last 6 months. Great reel for a good price. ... show more
